@talharbash @brianfargo It's going to be a very small video update. Going to show of the inventory screen functionality. Around 1-2 minutes.

Chris Keenan ‏@rangerkeenan5h
@Darth_Trethon @brianfargo It will be earlier in the week.

Yeah, what a "beefy" update

All this hype for a small vid where someone place a gun into a (grid based?) inventory, wow!

For real :

All we got till now where 2 Screenshots and the Gameplay Video (wich was ok i admit)

If they realy want to release this Game in about 5 month they should be able to show more from their
game.

Edgy!

Actually, if they really want to release the Game in about 5 months they should probably focus on finishing it's creation. Showing shit to people on the internet doesn't mean squat.

Actually, it does.
Is taking a few snapshots and posting them to generate hype THAT difficult?

Remember, if they want this KS to be successful they need people to buy the game besides the actual backers.

Poor Cassel.

By all this hype you mean that one tweet by Brian?

Sure, but that's not really how our development cycle works. The fact that we're free of press showings outside of our own schedule means inXile could work with an ideal development schedule, and that means implementing everything and hitting these milestones to go into alpha, but it is implemented without polish. In other words; the game right now does not necessarily look *better* than the video we showed months ago, which was kind of a vertical slice. Now, how would people react if we showed that? You've seen the vertical slice and that's the best representation of gameplay we can give until we're a ways into alpha testing.

This is an ideal way of developing for us, and it's part of the reason inXile could promise such a short development cycle for Wasteland 2, but it's not very good for showing the game. That's an unfortunate trade-off.

That said, there should have been more updates of the other type; just talking design, gameplay details, showing off details. No excuses there: sorry.

Personally I'd love to see what WL2 looks like now, but I understand that a lot of idiots won't get what "work in progress" means and loudly complain, creating a negative impression of WL2 on the net.
This is why we can't have nice things, people are a problem, etc.

Hmmm.. Didn't realize it was like that.

But, as you said, nothing's keeping InXile from doing these other types of updates- so I'd be glad if you could talk them into making more.

Brother None For Tides of Numenera can we hope more regular updates? I don't ask to hit Obsidian levels, but it would be nice to have more than what we got for W2. I don't know how many you could do without spoilers in such a story focused game however.

Not while it's in pre-production, no. There'll probably be more regular smaller signs of life via the tumblr, but full updates will probably be really irregular.
I should probably mention why I think so: unlike WL2 and PE Torment isn't diving into any kind of production, it has a much purer preproduction stage where it's really just writers, artists and system designers. That makes it really hard to find something to talk about. Progress has been pretty good (right now I don't do much more than read what Colin, Adam and Kevin come up with and give feedback, myself, but it's good) but not much you can talk about in any detail.

Brother None any word on when the beta will be released?

Nothing precise. We're in "alpha-ish" state now, I should be getting the game to test in a week or so, then a few others will test along with me, and if that goes well the beta will follow fairly soon. But those are pretty big steps, so we're a ways out still.

Continued stream of high res epic or just damn good concept art will suffice.

But it should be possible for Colin, Kevin and Adam to do some updates about combat system, skills, level advancement, etc. even in pre-production stage, isn't it?

Updates are always nice but i'm not a fan of having plenty, especially if they are time consuming to make.
That W2 gameplay video was excellent and told me almost everything i wanted to know (the camera view/the TB combat/the graphics/the dialog system/the skill system).
Further updates, even if they can be very interesting and enjoyable, could only talk about less important mechanics or be more or less full of spoilers.
I'm happy Inxile concentrate on the game and don't waste time on updates.

Am I the only one who thinks a constant stream of updates throughout production would make a developer look really unprofessional and bad? What I would take away from it is that the developers top priority is sitting on the internet generating hype, rather than working on their damn game. Putting too much emphasis on marketing and not enough emphasis on making good games got the industry into quite a mess these last few years.

The first video sold me. I don't need to see more before the game is released. I'd rather inXile spent the time making the game as good as possible. Although, I expect a bit of coverage in order to build up interest for sales at launch.

Personally I don't need flash or substance in the updates, that's what the finished product is for. It would be cool to see an update every month just telling us how the project is going though.
