Devi didn't back this so she doesn't lose out either.

She did back Dead State, Eternity, and Torment though. Fortunately the latter two are more likely to appeal.

Ok, after reading much of both threads (phew!), it seems that Wasteland 2 is everything what the people in the Project Eternity thread want, and many of the critics in this thread would want things the P:E way (but a bit less so).

Or, in other words: everyone has a game coming suited for them, but they like posting in the opposite forum most.

:)

She'll probably enjoy Dead State more, since she'll be able to relate to all the asexual indoctrinated zombies wandering about.

I wouldn't count on either P:E or Torment going full-on BioWare genderfluid pansexual fictive headmates mode, though no doubt they'll be more careful not to offend professional victims.

How do you know? Both Eternity and Torment:ToN had mature themes as a selling point.Sawyer doesn't see video games as mindless escapism. T:ToN is from the same team as W2 and PE will feature rape ( :P )
The only thing that maybe make her more comfortable is that both games are fantasy so it may be easier for her to disconect with the issue.

Shame on you. A whole game where the gameplay consists of shooting asexual indoctrinated idiots zombies. It will be the worst offender :D

There's not much sexism to speak of in Numenera's setting and Sawyer is a feminist ally. She liked New Vegas.

Apparently, even though i am a tall, straight, white male in the US I am underprivileged on that chart. Guess being mentally ill is good for something! :stupid:

I am -210

Also @Roguey as @Infinitron mentions http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php...20a77e636122229ae9f89&p=17047254#post17047254

yeah I can see Lesi accepting this as totally not sexist.

I don't really think it has to do with privileged or unprivileged, I think the disjoint for Devija comes from how she goes into a videogame: she wants to be entertained, but not challenged, it is escapism, not meant to be thought-provoking. That's how she wishes to consume the genre and as far as I'm concerned, that's fine...but that's not what we're doing. Don't go into Wasteland 2 expecting to be mollycoddled or for the game to go out of its way to not offend you, we're not making a game here where our goal is to hit the widest possible audience and so we're bending over backwards to not offend anyone. It's an unpleasant world and you'll run into unpleasant situations. If you play videogames purely for escapism and power fantasies and hate to run into anything unpleasant (whether it to be political or violence or minorities-related), then the game is probably not for you. As far as I can gauge, that's the real problem Devija has here, so I don't think she's our audience. And that's fine. She can play the kind of games she likes, power-fantasies and escapism that avoid these topics entirely, and we'll make the kind of games we want to make.

Not much of an issue there that I can see. Her preferences are as valid as anyone's, but not every game has to please every person. So this one's not for her. Eh. So it goes.

On the other hand, freedom is emphasized. If someone is being a misogynist dick to you, end the dialog and shoot him (or her) in the face.

I think the :butthurt: here on the codex is because these kind of players craving escapism over challenge far outnumber us, and we get deprived cause publishers, risk aversion and AAA+ budgets. Even in torment it was stated that Sexual Violence will be avoided (in formsprigns IIRC). I think, if such a subplot is integrated correctly with the pain transfer mechanics, potential to be something memorable. Although, it would be better not to include any themes halfheartedly.

Oprah Winfrey: -10 (+40 if you add "influential celebrity" as a +50 Profession)

Short, ugly, fat, straight white male working at McDonald's: +70

Seems an accurate representation of social justice retards' system of measuring privilege. (I've seen this chart before, it's fun to play around with.)

The chart comes from /v/, and was made for mocking the kind of people who go on about privilege. The "If you can't add -30" ,"Saterday", and "Check it daily" parts should give it away as obvious satire.

No shit? Thanks for clearing that up for me. ;)

It almost certainly originated on /n/ or /pol/ rather than /v/, though no one could say for certain.

Have you shown her the Nibovian Wives yet?
No need, I doubt those creatures will even exist in Torment and if they did they would be a "fuck this concept" subversion like Grace.

But you referred to numenera setting, not scope of TToN. You know try to be consistent so that at least you manage to bait a few poor souls into taking you seriously.

I said not much. Even the original complaint says the wives stick out like a sore thumb because sexism's pretty much a non-issue in the setting.

Well clearly very different definitions of much, if your other posts are anything to judge by. But you know, what you lack is consistency. More accomplished stalkers like Infinitron might be able to quote, but weren't you throwing a big hissy fit with boobs showing in DOS? I was pretty sloshed, so could have mistaken. But my point is in multiple cases you get far more :butthurt: with relatively minor stuff.

It isn't just the publishers, though. It's like a lesser form of SJW retardation. When I was on the Eidos forums fighting the good fight for Deus Ex, I can't tell you how many people came to that board after they started releasing screenshots, teasers, etc. that defended the dumbing down because it would appeal to a larger audience. The "logic" being that then more people buy the game, the next game gets a bigger budget, everyone wins because the franchise grows.

These publishers attract this herd of morons who skitter from game to game complaining about anything that isn't packaged for them to get stoned and button mash through.
