That you can't roll up a new level one ranger is lame as hell andTime to reroll! God I wish this game was more :balan.. JUST KIDDING
What is the point of ranged weapons when all enemies get to you in turn 1 and you can't shoot back because they are too close unless you have higher initiative which allows you to hurt them during the first turn, but if they survive they get into close combat anyway and ranged weapons get useless. i think i'll remake the party for melee combat.

I never get that in games like this. What is the point? You will wait out the time anyway, why do I have to wait 6-8 seconds for it. Even if they don't do it instanteniously, it should have a 2 seconds timer at max.Why exactly is there a timer for using skills? This isn't Deux Ex.

If you are fighting with ranged weapons you have to find the right distance first before shooting.
Move away then shoot, easy.

But at least cut the waiting time in half. 8 seconds is too long for every lockpick, healing and stuff.I never get that in games like this. What is the point? There is a thing called Immersion...
It looks like shit, plays like shit, the interface is incredibly fugly, its got too many skills, permadeath without the ability to generate new dudes and chance based skill checks with critical failures makes it a tedious savescum-fest. Steer clear.
this game seemed cool when i kickstarted it but now im playing it and it's really not feelin that great, it's evoking the feelings i got from the new xcom adn they arent good feels
after playing this a little it really strikes me as a game that will get good reviews + loads of people will love it
but i'm not feeling it. the combat is cruddy and solving quests consists of "do you meet a particular skill check? no? ok shoot things" and the skill system is kinda shitty and it has percentage based skill checks w/critical failures that really do encourage savescumming and i ain't even a savescummer
on a scale of the bard's tale to krondor, i give this game a grimrock
...
it's the most fitting analogy in that there are elements of the game that i like and i wish they were put together better and also weren't bogged down by a garbage ass interface, dumb/bad skill system, and design decisions that were considered archaic and shitty in 1992.
It doesn't prevent it since the only thing you're losing is time. Just makes the people engaging in that activity resent the developers even more. It's another way of preventing degenerate gameplay.

I found the dog, put out the burning house, returned the girl's dowry that you find in the cave with the dead raiders and healed the six guys in the doctor/trader place using surgeon. Didn't even have to clear the camp. Oh, and I did manage to convine Sean with Kiss Ass that I'm arresting the indian, dunno if it matters.
Haha, had the same problem until I learned that by pressing space I can de-group my party and move them how I like. Now it's all ambush and shooting galleries. What is the point of ranged weapons when all enemies get to you in turn 1 and you can't shoot back because they are too close unless you have higher initiative which allows you to hurt them during the first turn, but if they survive they get into close combat anyway and ranged weapons get useless. i think i'll remake the party for melee combat.

did they do away with the timed drowning kid in rail nomads and his also timed exploding gf? 'cos that's why they use them (also sucky).I never get that in games like this. What is the point? That'll work out better once JES properly balances how long an adventuring day lasts when playing optimally. Then you either "git gud" or cheat.Perhaps, but I know some people in the Thread Roguey Does Not Visit who feel the same way about limited rest supplies and free resting only in towns.
Playing it and it has got too much of wild west and not enough post apo feel for my tastes. Too much wacky stuff also, even more wacky stuff than fallout 2, while in fallout 2 it was ok, here it feels just silly.
Sadly this will never reach Fallout legacy.
Guys, how does Charisma work? Is there a reason to put a lot into it?
Does it limit the amounts of NPCs you can recruit? I'm now running with 2 NPCs and 2 animals.
