9 gb download, 21 gb install? For a Kickstarter game? What could possibly be taking up that much space?

The thing I'm curious about: how's the performance? Anyone here playing this on a toaster? I've read about all sorts of technical issues you wouldn't expect from a multi-million project by veteran developers, like low framerates even on high-end rigs, only dx9 renderer working properly, screen tearing issues, et cetera... goddamn Unity. Also, if anyone has toyed with the game's assets, what's making it need a whopping 30 GB? A bunch of poorly encoded HD videos or what?

I get pretty good framerates in the levels I've been to (90-100) but I get shocking FPS and microstutter when using the inventory and stuff. I also get this in Pillars of Eternity, so it looks like they never did an optimization pass on their buttons etc.

I need to figure out the other 2 NPC's we can get so I can finally balance/roll my party (so we don't have duplicate skill I am wasting PRECIOUS skill points on).....:M

It's the paperdolls, rendering an entirely new character model, data and the map takes time. Get an SSD if it really bothers you.

Actually clicking the buttons is what causes the microstutter. The 3D rendering gives me less FPS but does not cause any microstutter.

You mean the buttons in the inventory or the button that goes to the inventory?

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Not knowing what's safe to get rid of and what needs to be kept is a big part of these games.

In a game with a "sell junk" button, I don't think that's quite as much the case as you imply.

I thought so too until I needed two junk items to use in Highpool (although I'm not sure if you really have to use them, maybe the quest could be done without them).

To get the juvies to fuck off with hand rocket and some marbles.

Never played beta, read anything about the progress and only watched one gameplay video. I'm about halfway through AG Center. Combat skills with the group are unarmed, blunt and two pistols plus that one shotgun follower. Not very optimal probably, but who cares.

Difficulty is on ranger (hard). My rangers are dying all the time, I have to keep saving/reloading constantly and fights at times feel impossible.

I like the frustration. So far so good, Inxile, so far so good.

Fuck. Rail. Thieves. Seriously, their camp, they have tons of height advantage and there aren't many places to put rangers into tactical spots..

is it a good idea to make a party with good social and wilderness skills and low combat skills? or is this game combat heavy?

So after all the bitching and moaning in the Beta thread the game turned out to be quite good in the end? That's a nice surprise.

Criticism always seem to come a bit later, not a few hours into the game. I think it was the same thing even with Shadowrun Returns. Even Skyrim iirc was well received in the first 2 or 3 days over the critical side of the Internet.

Not that this game is not improved or anything, just saying why not many detractors are posting right now.

FWIW the game hasn't really grabbed me yet. The main reason I keep playing is because I dig the WL1 references (WL1 was one of my favorite RPGs), the gameplay is ho-hum. Especially combat, meh.

All I remember after demoing the beta is a certain "Meh" feeling to it, unlike Dead State, which gripped me immediately. I doubt the full version is any different, but of course I'll await the final hivemind hum after seven playthroughs have been achieved by any of our esteemed soldiers.
