Unlike Larian they don't owe a bunch of money to banks and investors, and the next game is only a Kickstarter away.

So Inxile is debt-free, without even a line of credit for working capital etc while completing the game?

Just curious, I'm sure they will sell more than enough to cover their costs.

The last thing you want is a low budget Torment production.

I finally was able to make a team I was satisfied with. Also made some custom portraits for them.

Yeah, I reloaded and tried other skills too. Apparently it also flips if you use 'animal whisperer' on it.
Did the same thing. I didn't follow it though, fuck that shit.
After a while I got a message saying that the turtle died. Someone spoil this for me. What happens if you follow it?

You get tons of good stuff - I got 2 grenades, 2 tactical armors and assault rifle ammo - on the other hand, a friend of mine got different things, so save before you loot.

Eehh.. They already have a budget as big or bigger than they had with wasteland 2 even without throwing their own money into it. So I don't know if I'd call it a low budget production in that sense, but more money is always better.

Damn, dethroned on steam best selling list by an early access game...
Considering some of these Early Access hobo simulators outsell AAA games, that's not necessarily an indication that WL2 is doing poorly.

Do the Synth parts from the various robots have a function?

The discription claims that someone with skill could get info from them. But no one that I can see at Ranger base wants them.

Lets say, hypothetically, that wasteland 2 sales are drop to zero.

If this is the case, and Brian still need to pay rent and salaries to his employees (and McComb probably cost a fortune - you can't negotiate with pirates!)
Than you need money to do so... (Torment earned - as for now - 4.6 million dollars).
Now, as i understand according to Infinitron math - Inxile invest more than 2 million dollars in Wasteland 2 with their own money.
Which means: They'll probably need that money back to invest back in Torment.
Otherwise, They'll be much more careful (budget wise) while creating Torment.
And the last thing you want to do with Torment is to be careful!

Torment must be surreal as fuck - there's lots of work to be done!

So a few things..

- Torment is using the obsidian engine made for unity that has most of the legwork done from an AI / Game Mechanics stand point. There will be some tweaking and tuning done of course but even having unity as a starting base saved these two companies years of work and budget.. Now with Obsidian drilling unity down even further to that isometric type game.. They have a huge push off point.

- As Infinitron said.. They have already made their money back.. now we just want to see them make that kickstarter money back so they can keep going.

- Their sales will never go to 0 a day.. This game won't be moving millions of units a month or anything.. but they can keep the game up on GoG and Steam for as long as they want at no further cost to them and sales will naturally occur.. Even 5000 a month or 2500 a month for the next year will be a huge amount of profit for what essentially is now passive income (barring bugfixes and patching)

Before they released WL2.. InXile's only passive income was fucking Bards Tale.. and even THAT sold enough copies on a steam sale to add an additional 1 million to WL2.. If they do a steam sale a few months before Torment releases they are gonna be in a sweet spot.

And I still would like someone to explain how to collect an intact pod.
Stop if this is a silly question, but have you tried walking instead of running?
I remember in the beta, Lawson said if you approach slowly you can get to the pods without explosion. The next (real time) day, a hotfix patch was released that removed the ability to walk, so I never found out if that worked.
If you don't know how to walk: go to options and disable "Always Run". Then you walk by default and double click to run.

Unfortunately walking doesn't stop them from exploding and there is no skill that activates them anyway. If you're quick you can run and grab the contents of a crate that's right near a pod then run away again and the pod "calms" down. Maybe a special item is needed ?
FFS

kill it from afar and loot the pod from it's corpse!

So, should I get his Codex?

Well, I'll probably get this anyway, but should I?

I'm trying to get some work done over the weekend and every time I read this thread I want to play WL2. :argh:

So, should I get his Codex?

Well, I'll probably get this anyway, but should I?

It's a little rough around the edges.. I can definitely feel the unity engine when it comes to loading assets or locations.. I would have to say yes though.. The mechanics and gameplay is spot on to what I was hoping for.

I wish PoE would be more similar to this game actually. Oh and DAT C&C.. I'm not far enough in the game to totally judge it though.. but the biggest complaints on meta critic are dice rolls and challenging combat.. so it has to be good according to Codex standards.

Your ignore list.
This game has the worst graphical quality / performance ratio I have ever seen, as well as one of the most abbhorent interfaces ever conceived. It's no wonder the Codex loves it.

Besides, D:OS shits all over this turd.

Curious builds people have posted for their parties.

There were a few rules of thumb I had for my beta group.
- 8 intelligence for everyone. With the amount if levels you get, 4 skill points per level is pretty huge
- Cha, Luck (and usually either Per or Str) as dump stats. Since they aren't linked to skills, you only need one party member with one of them high
- other stats (especially coordination) raised to levels where they give an additional action point or two. No one in my group started with less than 9 AP
- pooled skills on everyone. That's barter and outdoorsman. After rank 4 they become a lot more expensive to raise, so I'd rather spread them out.
- weapons with different ammo types for everyone to make it last longer. You get an assault rifle npc right out of the gate and either a sniper or a shotgun user shortly after. I went with (sniper/shotgun), smg, heavy weapon+melee, energy.
