:x Line of sight in this game is fucked. Enemies are shooting me through giant rocky outcroppings, and I'm consistently failing shots that are in the 90% range.

Both this and D:OS are overrated.
:rpgcodex:
Nah, D:OS is overrated, W2 is accurately rated, people like it but they don't act like it's a solid 10, and most have pointed out it's flaws. D:OS was also popular with the decline crowd, most of which now bitch on every W2/PoE forum about how these games don't look as good, where da bloom and graphix?

I'm still trying to understand how anyone found DOS enjoyable. Let alone codexers
It's an enjoyable, if not forgettable game, opening area was really solid, and probably where a lot of people on the codex formed their opinions. The rest of the game wasn't much though, of course I didn't finish it, got about an 8th of the way through, found the respec and my desire to beat it in order to replay a smoother experience were shot. Just messed around with a bunch of builds a la borderlands 2 and then quit before doing the final puzzle, er, dungeon. . Wasteland 2 on the other hand is supposed to only get better, speaking of which, has anyone beaten the game or LA to comment on the quality of the game as a whole?

how do I perma ban custom portraits? I have a shit-ton of placeholder portraits that respawn whenever I delete them.
And since you guys are still planning on tweaking content, fix intelligence, that last minute change was retarded, pretty much everyone will have 4 int now, which is shit for roleplay/chargen. 1-3-5-7-9 is good formula, why is 2 the bottom for skill points now anyway? Seems like a lot of skill points for a retard to have. A better system still would be to include half-points, but if not that at least return to the previous, better formula.

So, how's the L.A. content ?

Very good. Game really changes it's pace in L.A., was very confused at first by how much it did change, but then adjusted to it's flow.

Essentially, the game says "Ok, do these rather confusing tasks, which don't really have a clear solution. Bye" Then sets you free on the world, there is nothing like a ranger citadel, no Vargas or anything. Everything is dangerous, and you will get close to the brink of death, A LOT. The designers have really worked on getting that "You're nobody." feeling in the world and it's working very well, to be honest, the whole "easy" feel of Arizona was obviously an intentional set-up to throw the player into the deep end with California. Also, all the areas are very open, much more than Arizona, in fact, you'll find at first you can't visit most of the Major Areas, so you'll have to stick to the small minor ones, which have vendors and feel like small towns.
(not really a spoiler, but this details the pace changes)

I will also say the various LA cults are all kinds of awesome. I think you guys will really start to see the game's personality come into full form in the second half.

My favorite so far are the Mannarites, it's run by Kenneth from 30 Rock.

The biggest gripe I have so far (not too far in the game...) is that once I leave and re-enter Highpool (and I guess it's the same for all maps) after clearing it out from hazards, I have to trudge through the empty terrain to get to up the dam and from there back to the world map. Was kinda hoping there'd be a similiar mechanic to how Fallout handled its map entries there. Not really a biggie though.

Having good fun with the game again after a few months pause from the beta stuff.

There's a shortcut in Highpool that allows you to bypass that empty terrain. It becomes available
after mayor's elections.

Delete them from the folder or save them some place else is what I can suggest right now...

Any idea about the portrait issue I posted earlier? :(

BTW, someone has uploaded a collection of custom avatars here: https://imgur.com/a/QYyax#0
Most are crap/tryhard, but I liked some of them.

Guys, how should one use perception? Sometimes I discover things even if my Perception character is not the leader. But there's of course the option to press the number corresponding to the skill to search for something. So, do I need to be pressing this button? Or is this a more passive skill apart from the situations in which a right-click uses it?

30 hours in and I have to agree with those who say D:OS is much better. Combat in Wasteland 2 is just so fucking boring, I'm just slogging my way through. And the storyfaggotry doesn't make up for it.

Is it just me, or Angela in the Citadel is basicly a cheat mode for those who have problems with the difficulty? I can take a lvl14 ranger with me, right from the beginning? I won't take her with me until I arrive to an unbeatable opposition.
She's more or less intended as a "newbie assist" character. :)

I haven't taken any companions outside of my 4 rangers.. I don't like their builds.. I'm worried they will betray or leave me after I give them items and I am worried they will make the game too easy.

Will I miss excessive amounts of content by ignoring them?

D:OS definitely has better tactical combat but it's also extremely unbalanced and abusable.. I am sure this game is too but I haven't gotten far enough to completely roll everything over..

D:OS needs a patch to make it actually challenging or nerf some of the more abusable spells.. The plot is a bag of dicks on D:OS.. sorry so it needs to have it's other ducks in a row.. I am really enjoying the WL2 storyfaggotry

if you select a character with the perception skill, click LMB on it and there should be a circle around thecharacter, it's a passive skill and the circle shows its range.

No, they don't even talk much. Just give a sentence or two per map. At least so far where I am.

Mercamp in the citadel said they buy used clothes at a premium, but I forgot who she said buys it. Is it the quartermaster in the cage? I hope not, because he only buys the stuff for 8 scrap.

I've been enjoying myself. Played till 1 AM and didn't notice. Have rerolled a few times, still having fun. The M16 is a beast gun.

Been playing for about 6 hours. I cleared AG Center and entered Highpool. Definitely enjoying it a lot so far!

Activate the skill via the hotkey. You see the circle around your character appear. I just leave it that way, and the perception skill will be active all time, no matter which character is selected. If you travel through terrain, and that character notices something (inside the perception cicle), you see the item pop up on the ground. The other method is when you select your character and right click on items and you get a discription about it (if there are any traps on it for example).

At least this is how I think it works.

You can pick up a surgeon/comp sci character in ag center. No field medic, but you can train it. Don't know if she's still available if you don't save it first.

Ahhh good to know. That's 2 skills I don't have to pick. Does she have any fighting skills?
She has handgun lvl1 IIRC, she will do decent if you give her a few points in that skill. But prepaire that without high leadership skill on one of your characters, she will constanly go rogue and act alone during fights (and put the whole team in danger).

I'm in Highpool (first choice) and the game is great so far. I'm having a blast.

Combat so far is actually pretty good unlike stated here from a few. It has different weapon types which are all differently useful depeniding on the situation. Cover is there, destructible cover is there, crouching is there and difficulty at Ranger level is challenging so far. Weapon customization, different skills, leveling and char creation is fun (but I miss perks, too), good dialog, lot's of stuff to do, reacting environment, very good atmosphere... the list goes on.

Sometimes the ui is abit cumbersome and the cam rotation is bit annoying because you must use it to see everything. Graphics are good but it looks grainy like in a rendered movie and it would have been really nice if you could see the armor you and the npcs are wearing. Reloading the weapons in the inventory is clumsy, too.

But weaknesses are very minor for me and every other great game has this sort of minor flaws. Nothing is perfect.

If the game keeps his momentum it is a real classic!

Finished Damonta so I think I've played enough to write some coherent first impressions:

-Combat is a billion times better than it was in whatever Beta version I played, where it was absolutely horrible. Combat in areas with lots of cover against human opponents with guns is still by far the best, fighting melee robots and animals can still get tedious.
-Dialogue varies. Typically, every single dialogue goes on longer than necessary although with some characters there's a lot of personality in it and it's fun to read.
-The water mechanic on the world map is really stupid and presents no danger at all, usually just meaning you have to make a pointless 3-second detour to the nearest Oasis. Better than nothing, I guess.
-I did Highpool here (it was good) whereas I did AG Center in the beta. Absolutely hated the AG Center, has it been significantly improved from the beta?
-GRENADES ARE INSANE
-Map design varies a lot. Some maps - Highpool, Canyon of Titan, etc. - are really tightly designed and filled with interesting things, whereas other maps - Damonta, some parts of the Prison - feel too spacious, with a lot of areas that don't really have anything.
-The game still feels a little too combat heavy. I know it's a combat-based game and you were never meant to be able to do Fallout-style diplomatic options, but it still starts to grate after a while when turning a corner inevitably results in a huge army to fight.
-I really like Animal Whisperer and Computer Science. It would be cool if Animal Whisperer got hostile animals to join you in the fight (like Computer Science does for robots) rather than just run.
-The canyon of Titan was really really impressive. Huge map, lots of side-routes, lots of different ways to handle the events you come across.
-The dialogue skills (the -ass ones) feel kinda useless. I tried to keep an even spread across the three skills, which meant that I was under-levelled for every single dialogue option I came across. So I decided to focus on Kiss-Ass, and it seems like every dialogue option I come across is either Hard-ass, Smart-ass or Kiss-ass level 99999 required.

Overall, it's (much) better than I thought it would be from the Early Access and I'm legit enjoying it so far.

Unarmed is great if you build it correctly. I have a 10 strength melee tank whose sole job it is to run up to things and punch them repeatedly. I can't wait to get some of the higher damage unarmed weapons, because Im criting like mad with this guy with just gloves on.

I am loving the game.

I only have one major problem with game so far:

REVOLVERS CAN'T FUCKING JAM. IT IS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE.

Also, I modified my weapons to get the jam rate down to 2% - and I'll be fucked if it doesn't seem to happen a shit load of the time.
