Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
True, armor is more of a burden than boon in most situations. I was debating selling that shit too but kept it in the end. It's still somewhat useful against melee, shotgun and SMG wielding mobs. But yeah, the whole system leaves a lot to be desired. It absolutely needs to work like the damage threshold of the energy weapons, only the other way around, where damage greatly increases if you're not wearing any.

My requested tribute is to FedEx three containers of sludge back to the Mad Monks. Naturally, a raider with a monk escort is stationed near one of the sludge barrels, claiming it's his container of sludge and that I shouldn't touch it.
Yeah, happened to me too. Problem is due to the linearity of the area and previous experience with the quests in this game most players won't expect there are actually extra quest items to be had and they don't have to fight tooth and claw over this particular one. I didn't have a high enough Ass skill either, entered combat and my monk turned on me. Had to kill him and proceed all the way to the Temple without him. Only then I found out there are like 3 extra containers further on.

So yeah. Is there any way to sort members portraits? I did the Angel quest with Fletcher and unfortunately it picked the one member that was furthest ahead for kidnapping. Then I got back and it said your group is full when trying to rejoin. Um what?
So I kicked Brother Thomas the fuck out, nope. Reloaded, kicked bro Thomas the fuck out, triggered Fletcher's return and got my groupmate back. Except now she's in a fucked up order. Any way to fix that?

EDIT: and another fucking bug. Hoo boy LA sure is a buggy piece of shit. Probably why Joystiq complained. Groupmate that got taken lost weapons.

It's not a bug, jesus fucking christ. It's stored in a safe. Why the fuck would anyone jail someone with their weapons?

I just got a pretty crazy bug. I won a fight with some Gila Monsters, and as the battle concluded, my Monk escort sprouted a vendor icon above his head and the game started lagging like crazy. Saving/reloading fixed it.

Well having to unlock a safe to get your weapons back is still a bug.

Not a vendor icon, ambush icon. The game cannot into ambush in real time therefore it slows down. Happed to me once too.

Rather a simple omission.

If you could get high-value armor in the early game, then it would be briefly useful, but you can't. The heaviest armors, as they become available, barely keep up with the Armor Penetration values enemies simultaneously begin to sport. Shaving a couple of points off of attacks that deal 20-30 (then 30-40, then 40-50) damage in exchange for being slow as fuck and dangerously vulnerable to energy weapons is a really horrible implementation of armor.

Isn't the 5 Armor available as soon as you enter the Citadel ? Combat Armor was it called ? Can't remember... but I could buy at least 2 of them immediately after Ag Center and Highpool. I didn't, because I went for the M16, but I could.

I agree with the complaints re: armor. The system is broken. My guys are still wearing leather jackets and bullet proof shirts becuse heavier armor is simply not worth the damage protection considering what you pay in speed. It really, REALLY needs to be rebalanced. Someone should get sea/bro none's attention about it.

Yeah, and 4 armor with no movement penalty.

By the time you get to the Citadel, Combat Armor (which is hideously expensive for that point in the game) will shave 10-20% of the damage off most attacks at best, for some of your characters, unless you want half or more of your team to be practically immobile. It'll shave more in fights that don't matter anyway, such as against the very low-HP random raider encounters. The Tac Vest will shave maybe 5-15%, and I'm being generous with that 15.

That glorious 10-20% is the high water mark, and it plummets from there since enemy weapon damage (and AP) continues to skyrocket, while the damage reduction from high Armor remains the same linear deductive value.

I'll give you that, it's marginally useful between the Citadel and the Canyon, for a very steep price. Actually, it becomes near-useless before the Canyon in several areas.

Furthermore, and this becomes noticeable in the Canyon with certain pistols and sniper rifles, weapons with 1 more Armor Penetration but slightly worse stats are priced significantly higher than their counterpart weapons with slightly better other stats (damage/range/magazine/jam %), but 1 less Armor Penetration than they. This would make sense in a system that was designed properly.

I wonder why no game makes proper armor. like: kevlar vest takes no more than 2 bullets before being completely ruined, also doesn't stop 7.62 at all. plate carriers only stop bullets up to 5.56 etc. how hard would that be to implement? it's just a check for caliber hitting the armor and a counter

The last patch made all junk items invisible unless you switch to the junk tab. Retarded, i know.

It was a quick fix to hide the six hundred and ninety-nine billion junk items that accumulate on some vendors.

Why their inventories don't refresh and simply delete junk and certain other things you couldn't possibly want back (like more than 3-4 copies of identical weapons) is beyond me. Buyback is great, but aside from clutter I worry about destabilizing the game when some vendor has fifty Teddy Ruxpins and a million other kinds of junk in his inventory.

It probably has something to do with the fact that participating in a shoot-out in a video game is fun whereas doing so in real-life is...not particularly fun.

There's a lot more to fix than just the armor mechanics. The entire progression/scaling system is fucked, from HP bloat to Damage bloat to Armor bloat and whatnot, it's all completely screwed and over the top and once in LA, it's nothing but godlike beings fighting other godlike beings, each requiring 3 to 5 rockets in the face to kill and whatnot.

Edit:
Fair but difficult means you have a good system. Mobs should use the EXACT same rules as the player do, with same restrictions and limitations.
Once you feel you need to hard code specific cheats to handle your mob stats and equipment and generate fake loot tables just to make sure your players don't notice your own cheats, you should realize your entire game mechanics are fucked...

You can make it very unfun for the characters involved, and yet very fun for the player. I'm pretty sure the dudes in XCOM did NOT find fighting aliens that much fun.

When I saw the armor values I assumed it was %-DR i.e. 1 armor removes 10% of incoming damage, 10 armor removes 100%, so a Scorpitron can only be killed with energy weapons and 10-pen rockets and grenades and such, not unlike the one in the original, and your end-game characters are also immune to practically everything but the most penetrative weapons and energy weapons, also like the original Wasteland experience.

That it's flat DT is hilarious. Flat DT is better if it's actually balanced..

It worked on some level: if you manually flagged something as junk, it would then show up at Junk tab.

I'm stuck because I have no idea how to trigger the rad suit upgrade in LA.

I've delivered the litter then I fucked around quite a bit, going to random distress calls etc. because i had already completed towns/quest while I was looking for litter. Then I've killed the scorpitron, thinking that was the trigger.

Still nothing is happening, radio dude won't call.

So what's the deal with the safes and doors protected by passwords in this game? Is it some kind of inXile's easter egg? I opened the doors with Night Terror by

trying blindly various passwords from Wasteland 1 walkthrough and one of them was a hit :D

and you get the password for the safe in the Infected Village from the sheriff. But other than that? I've found four or five more passlocked safes and doors (safe in Damonta in the room with a dead guy and a painting, safe in Los Feliz, in the building, the doors to the sewers from the salt dealing place) with no idea what the password is or even if there's a way to find it out in-game.
