While I don't mind the multiplayer (just as in DOS), I just can't make a use of it. I have only one friend who is into cRPGs, but it is impossible to sync our gaming time. Even if we start a game together, I'm sure one of us will drop out after a time, because people have other stuff to do. We even play differently. When I get stuck, I like to take my time, trying to figure out stuff. He rather looks after a walkthrough, juts to progress faster.

Are there really a lot of people out there who can play RPGs together, when this is the most time consuming genre? Or do the just drop in for an hour and drop out? Sorry, but I'm not playing games like that.

All the talk about multiplayer exclusive content and cinematic feel doesn't inspire optimism. I'm not going to fagstart it, but if it turns out to be good, I might buy it, when it releases in 2025.

He's founding his own studio and has hinted that he wants to lead a project again.
I have a hunch that the "studio" that he's founding (if that's really what he asked a name for) at this point may be more like a brand name that he's adopting for his personal endeavours. "Wasteland 3, developed in association with Chris Avellone's Puzzlewell Studios."

He's said that he can't work full-time on a game until his family issues are resolved.

Where are you getting this from? What did I miss?

After all the drama on Inxile, the Codex must be tagged as the laughing stock of the internet if we make another fundraiser for that studio.
Is that supposed to be a reason not to do it?
Coincidentally, the thread about the cancelled inXile Gamescom interview was removed.
LOL! Is that real? What a punch of pussies! If you fucked up Codex, at least stick to your fuckup.

It was removed to restore cooperation with inXile in time for our crowdfunding campaign.

Gotta say, I'm very excited for all the drama Wasteland 3 will provide.

Fargo trully is the hype man, he's gonna crowd-fund his fourth game having only released one shitty game. Oh well, at least the screenshots seem great.

I ask myself who gave Tim Schafer towards the 3.3 million dollar after his masturbation sock incident. And as long as T:ToN is not published i will give only towards this fig:

Cool! Could we have that razer kind of in-game monolith?

Screenshots and concept look great, but I honestly can't support another crowdfunding campaign while they still have two games unreleased.

I played D:OS with my wife every day after work. She's also classic RPG fan. So it's really welcome feature for us.

Well having a gamer significant other is a huge adventage, but apart from that, it is difficult to pull a party together.

The lack of modding support is the first instance of an outright cut feature compared to WL2: DC. Wonder how many more there will be.

No one gave a shit about WL2 modding support pre and post tool release, same thing happened to D:OS, despite its mod tools, and PoE despite its lack of them.

The modding scene for KS rpg's is non existent, dont ask me why.

So Unity then?
Game is not going to look half as good as the pics released without incinerating my graphics card.

At this point he doesn't care about his core clientele that helped him found Wasteland 2. He showed that many times already by developing console versions, shitting on the Codex and bullying small indie studios by sending them C&D letters but now he can afford to do so because he has the resources and apologists like you J_C . He wanted to add MP and social shit earlier but had to drop it because his core clientele didn't like it, now he's doing it again but this time we're too small of a group compared to his whole clientele.

Nowhere is written about social shit.

BF: We'll be using a modified and updated version of the Wasteland 2 engine, which will provide a significant visual upgrade from Wasteland 2. Unity has come a long way since we first started using it and we've just gotten better at using it. Additionally, we’re utilizing the Pillars of Eternity conversation editor again, which is the same we used in Torment, which allows our writers to quickly mock-up and step through branching conversations.

It is a good information. It means we will have a tree dialogue system. And them building up from the old engine and having only 50 hour long game rather suggest this time we will get a heavy C&C game. Game will have a much bigger budget than W2, so apart from spending it on this shitty MP, it is possible it will go towards C&C.

That said, we’re still focused on the single-player experience, the multiplayer builds upon it but does not replace the experience, so if you want to play it much like you did Wasteland 2, you absolutely can.

Hope he tells the truth.

One thing we're looking to do better is to dial up the reactivity even more and have more wide-scale decisions. We had a fair number of those in Wasteland 2 but the fans wanted even more of those life-or-death world-changing choices, and so we want to make sure we capture that. This’ll be supported by a more reactive central hub, and tied to it the Ranger Base that will be part of your story and narrative decision, though not a base you’ll be micro-managing throughout the game. On the more mechanical side we're making combat more tactical, faster and adding more depth. Vehicles are part of that, as are combat skills your Ranger team will have to manipulate the battlefield.

This sounds good.

inXile said to expect vehicles, environmental dangers and a revamped, more fluid action system
They went full Divinity:)

As for the vehicles, your ranger uses an upgradeable vehicle for travel. You can use it to store goods, explore and survive. You can even use it as cover in combat.

Some more details on the involvement of the Stasis guys:

Also very interesting is that inXile has been working on the project with Nic and Chris Bischoff, the main guys at Stasis studio The Brotherhood, who created the "prototype screens" seen below. "We’re big fans of STASIS and we know the Brotherhood have a great talent for isometric games. It was a no-brainer to have our team collaborate with them for prototype content for Wasteland 3," Fargo explained. "We’ll continue to work with them as we move into full production, their artistic insights and inspirations have been helpful throughout this process."

Now the question is if this means they will actually be truly involved or is it MCA "I design 1-2 NPCs where both then get cut in half" kind of involvement.

Fargo is a business man, he knows how to rev up the marketing machine. There is no way this campaign won't be successfull, Fig or not.

Despite the popular myth, late versions of Unity have no real performance issues, if you know what you're doing. Also Unreal is not a "first person" engine, not anymore at least. The game sounds like the sum of a lot of things that Fargo had in his head. Considering he is not a game designer, even though the "press" treats him like that, this sounds like a proper catastrophe. Keep in mind that if all the ideas get implemented perfectly, it will still suck if it has exclusive multiplayer content. At least Larian allows you to control all of your party and roleplay between the characters.
