Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Different players look for different things in games, and clashes often arises between those who believe some RPG is the greatest because of its writing while other drive it to the ground with its shitty combat. I'm sure we all have some examples in mind, and I was curious about the proportion of players falling in each broad category (two choices allowed, since some of us may be multiclassing).

So what is your greatest vice ? Do you revel in combat ? Do you need storytelling to get it off ? Do you have an obsessive-compulsive map clearing disorder ? Tell us about it, and about the games that best tickled your fancy.

I can be anything depending on the game aside from a completionist/grind fiend. But let me go autistic over systems upon systems and I'll be engaged.

I'm really all of them except grinding, completion and C&C, and even with those I'm a bit into them (IOW if I enjoy the game in other respects, I'll be into those aspects too).

But I suppose if I were forced to min-max, I'm a combatfag and (if I'm ruthlessly honest with myself) graphics whore, with a minor in build systems.

1 Stat/systemsfag. I like it when you can create diverse characters and parties, yet many of them wouldn't work well so there is a significant potential for failure. However, a flaw with systemsfaggotry is that it sometimes strives too much for elegance at the expense of simulation. Better be less like chess, more like a detailed mess.

2 C&C. I don't care all that much for the overarching narrative (as a storyfag would) as a good degree of reactivity. KoDP is very pleasant in this respect, for instance. Text-based gameplay in the style of Suzerain or Alter Ego is just fine.

I'm not completionist and I don't care about graphics (though I do care about UI usability). I also dislike fast-paced action, unless it is grounded in building something up in a detailed fashion, like in Crossout or Elder Scrolls Online PvP.

Explore by a good margin.
Lore would be next. The knowledge of the world around me helps with the fun in exploration.

For anyone that chooses story I would love to know which games stories were that good.

The kind who enjoys cumming on faces.

Combat (Grinding) / Explore

Grinding of course only works when the combat is fun.

This is why I love the SMT games.

Two choices are really too few to me. For starters, I'm both combat and story fag. Yes, yes. But I'm also an explorefag and like to tweak stats, learn different systems to the bone - that's kinda requirement for a combatfag though. Additionaly, I'm a massive graphical whore, skipped quite a few seemenly good games because of their looks.

You forgot to add shipper/romance fag by the way.
