HOLY! FUCKING! SPACEFARING! SHIT!

reading and watching a video here and there had been enough to aknowledge this piece of shit as the piece of shit it is, but with this latest expansion and the patches and the additions and the modules and this and that and so on i braced myself and have it a firsthand try.
i could never, ever, *EVER* have guessed this game could be this absolutely, completely, totally HORRIBLE.

controls are terrible, interface is horrific, vital informations are hidden or extremely hard to reach and its rules and world are retarded. i found 12k credits in a locker (which i could loot right under a guard's eyes) and 400k (enough to feed a city for a lifetime) sitting in an air duct.

don't forget looting that free floating everywhere cargo in space, lack of actuall small ships or even medium ones that you can buy, carriers who didn't carry any fighters and shitload of other things like crafting (crafting in space game lol), scanning stations, drones mumbo jumbo and so on.

and the unclear instructions. "find this item": alright, where am i supposed to start looking? no way to know. "map behind the gate": how? do i need a mapping scanner? do i have to use the in-built long range scanner? is just visiting places enough? there are more gates, should i go deeper?
it's nauseating me, literally, but i just have to play these games...

God fucking dammit!

I thought the Fallout 4 thing was the lowest the Codex would ever sink, but once again I am proven wrong. Actual retards actually defending this fukken shit piece of shit.

This is not "good for what it is". This is not "a good space game lel". It's an unmitigated disaster. Zero redeeming qualities.

Attention anyone who might still be curious:

If there's a Citizen Kane of Gaming, this isn't even the "Max Payne the Movie" of gaming. At least they used proper cameras for that abomination. This is the Manos: The hands of fate of gaming. It's not franchise rape bad. It's just bad. Adding DLC will not fix it. Never.

Ask yourself if DLC would fix Ultima IX. Then remember that this game is at least as buggy, half as charming and twice as illogical.

This is like that thing Blaine was talking about. Some posts are just so retarded that all hope of that person ever saying anything non-retarded dies and the ignore list becomes a viable option.

I'll just post it here:

What space sim would you recommend right now, Codex?

I'm too cheap to buy E: D and looks like this game sucks. So any other recommendation?

I've played X3, and that open source Oolite (Which gets boring, but it's freeware so I won't shit on it)

If you find Oolite boring the same will probably apply to E:D anyway. You could try modded Elite 3 (FFE) with all the graphic packs etc. but combat is rather not much fun. My personal recommendation would be Evochron Legacy. It's cheaper than Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen, it's a modern game, has the best flight model atm and let's has everything E:D has as well (some of it simpler and less good looking).
Alternatives if you are looking for freeform space action with fps: The Precursors (mostly fps on foot, from freebooter bay) and/or I-War 2 (with mods, excellent older game with more focus on story than Elite etc., from gog.com).

wow, Evochron has demo, and IW is cheap, gotta grab em both

looking at Precursors videos I get the impression that the space gameplay isn't as good as the ground gameplay though.

The Evochron demo will mostly let you experience the flight system and daddling around with the ship config menu.
Precursors is indeed more a shooter. But it still gives you that freelancer pilot in space feeling (think in the direction of Firefly or Anachronox). The ship part is more attached on. Most of the time you will be running around on planets.

Kerbal Space Program is the only Space Sim on the market.
Please elaborate. I am genuinely interested on why do you think that games like X3 aren't space sim.

The idea of Firefly the single player game appeals to me.
I have never played Anachronox, btw

The X games and similar games aren't simulating fuck all. The environment and how you travel around it it has only superficial resemblance to actual space travel. It's no more a space sim than Space Invaders is.

Yeah because playing with little green trolls is totes realistic. If you want to be a sperglord you better sperg correct:

The only space sims are things like Celestia, Starry Night or Universe Sandbox, because they simulate space. Herp derp :negative:

Spaceship Shooter is my preferred genre label.

I see old-time fans rejecting Rebirth for being too easy or streamlined but they would not be a flaw on my end, and I am tempted to get this after the Elite Dangerous disaster.

Is it recommended for someone looking for a simple space combat game with eye-candy exploration, or is it still tedious and work-like? I also heard it was buggy and unfinished, and that it just wasn't very good in its own right even for someone looking for a simple easy game. How is it now?

It has eye candy environments, they fixed lots of the problems (toke lots of community mods and patch them together), so try Home of Light (watch an overview on youtube). I still dont like it, due to no purpose of the game beside exploration and fighting scripted enemies, no proper factions, no carrier fighters, small ships are useless, the UI is shit, the trading empire has been simplified but not really improved beside station managers. I wouldve played it if there was dynamic AI in it, the factions, a war, something. Beside exploration and building a trading empire just because.... to kill some scripted enemies, which is beyond retarded cause you spend a lot of time and the end you realize there was no point, but thats x games without mods. There are some nice mods around, but people gave up on it, its pretty broken at core design, which in the end all X games are.

Companybuilder in space with nice environments and no real high end gameplay, or even middle .... Basically if some non game designer would try to make a sandbox space game, this would look like. Lots interesting concepts poorly implemented and no sandbox = X Series.

That is least of its problems.

Controls for your own ship are garbage
Fighting someone in your own ship is garbage
The loop of afterburner no afterburner is worse than just flying around with SETA. (AND THEY BACKTRACKED AND ADDED SETA LOL)
Trading AI is dumb as fuck. They can sometimes stuck on delivering wares and good luck doing anything with your few milion ship
Complete lack of customization like in X3 of your ships. Aside from guns you can't outfit them.
Small and medium ships weren't even available at start but they are now and they are shit.
Shitload of shitty minigames everywhere and pseudo minigames.
Enemies spawn only if you are around some sector. Want to escort your own trader ? Bad luck with you being there enemies will spawn and will bust out your trader. If you won't escort it then trader will safely reach trading spot.

What is worse there is 0 progression. Getting anything now is easy as fuck and there isn't any reason to earn money beside station dump.

I like what they did with stations and graphics but game has severe gameplay issues.

At least X3 is fucking amazing with mods. XRebirth doesn't even have proper mods to fix it.

X-tended overhaul to terran conflict on other hand is best space sim/economy sim i ever played.
