Interesting. Just got teleported an insane distance away from everything. Map can't even track me anymore. Reload time.

Space anomaly. I saw something similar happening on one stream.

Don't think so, I found one of those earlier and it just put me into a different system. This thing fired me far outside the world map and happened just after I'd passed through a gate.

Fuck yeah figured out what was causing controler issues with game.
turns out gameplay time tracker for some ungodly reason messed up control input and DS4Windows didn't hide properly virtual controler which fucked up X4 input response. Pad worked but not full in correct fassion so no macro.

Now i can completely macro that shit :D

edit: close but no cigar. I can do macros now outside of game but game doesn't allow to remap some of the buttons and also doesn't allow for same function to have two buttons attached so i can't remap menu navigation to keyboard because dpad won't be working then. Either way dpad and r1/r2 is small price to pay when i have swipes and every other button to play with ctrl/shift/alt macros.

For example in case of my share button i have:
Share - travel mode toggle
Triangle + Share = long range scanner
Square + Share = Scan mode

edit2: idiot. I could just map those keyboard keys to pad buttons instead my buttons mapped to random keys.

This looks pretty uninspiring. Why are all open-world space games complete shit? Star Control Origins, Star Citizen, Elite: Dangerous, this. Is there even one decent open-world space game out there? The only decent one I can think of is Space Engineers, but that still really doesn't hit all the notes I want in a space game.

harsh circumstances
Pathfinder: Wrath
But is it a space game that can eventually become good through extensive patching? Or is it just shit and I should just give up hope right now and get ready to fire up X2 and 3?

Finally managed to overcome issues with pad mapping and managed to get every single ship function to pad.
I will need to complain on egoforums about remaping.

X3 is decent now , and if you are daring ,dont care of the graphics nor fear interspecies rape there's shores of hazeron http://hazeron.com/, an extremely deep and complex game with fully simulated universe and empire building from towns to spaceships.

Good impressions so far. I love the travel mode and the seamless docking (plus the docking procedure).
Back in the game.

Have you, by any chance, heard about the game called Space Rangers 2?
It is pretty, ahem, "decent".

I've put thousands of hours into X2 and X3s, which is y we bother with X4 in the first place.

It really feels like a sequel to X3. Love how you can dock and walk around and enter and exit ships without a pause. The map also is very reminiscent of previous X games and not like Rebirth. Now to find an antimatter station..

So what are we saying on the gameplay of this? Is this going to be one of the better space sims to come out in a long while? Also, how is the campaign so far? While I like the freedom of space sims, it'd be nice to have a decent driving force too.

EDIT: Fuck it. After watching this

I found out everything I really need to know to tell whether I'll like this game. It looks like a solid X game, and probably even better than X3 with all the additions.

I'm sold.

I bought it. I read a shit-tonne of reviews and found that almnost all of the negative reviews are either trying to run the game on 20 year old laptops or have had only a couple of hours on the game. Granted any issues will be fixed in time, but nothing major stands out. Thanks to DarkUnderlord for pointing out the loads of negative reviews, as they are the first thing I look at when buying a game.

It's been a long, long time since I've played X3, but after stillbirth this leaves a really good first impression. Gotta see how it plays after a couple dozen hours.

This looks like it could be interesting. Extremely janky, but I might give it a try.

Well, spent the last hour or so configuring my controls to create nice balance between my Saitek X52 and minimal mouse and keyboard use. All in all, pretty annoying they don't have a tutorial (it's all mouse and keyboard controls in the tutorial) set up for their default X52 profile (so I can identify joystick and throttle buttons faster and easier), but ultimately I ended up with something that feels WAY better than my X3 setup. This is a testament to the fact that this is a much more viable X game for joystick and throttle setups, which is EXCELLENT! Only thing that really bothers me is that there isn't a (-) and (+) throttle option, but reverse speeds seems so slow that it doesn't really matter.

Setup was fun, but now to start actually playing the game.

Starsector my man. Starsector.
I bought starsector because of this.

Now I'm lost in the controls and interface so fuck you.

I'm going back to getting ganked by 12 year olds in Rust.

Take 30 minutes to learn the controls and UI and then I'll accept your apology.

Got respawned. Slept like 4 hours. Time to continue only 992 hours to hit 1000 hours lol

edit:

I noticed that is some sectors FPS go down a bit. I hit for MSI cpu/gpu use and those sectors seem to have some bugs in rendering like not closed loops or something because FPS goes down while CPU use is 20-30% and GPU use is 40%. So the juice is there. X-rebirth had performance issues but most of the issues came from high gpu use. It means it is something they can patch i think.

This games too expensive and I bought X3 at launch back in the day it was dreadful. So looks like I'm waiting for the "demo" version because Ego ain't getting my shekels until they make the price cheaper. If this ends up being like X3 it won't start getting good until at least the first expansion.

edit: As good as the game looks my reasons for being hesitant is that they're asking AAA pricing. I don't buy AAA games and for good reason. I think Ego has made some very very bad choices in recent years and that alone is why I don't trust them, especially when I've seen them put their games on sale very quickly in the past. That said I think the game looks good and they've moved on from the mess that was Rebirth which is excellent to see. But it'll be really telling after a few months as to how good this game is. I will probably pick it up when its on sale. But I'd still like to try it. I did the exact same thing with Rebirth and managed to avoid loosing $60, same applies here.

Give Hellion a try, it's really good.
