I find it funny that even people on Codex don't understand how turn based combat works. Or pretend to thinking it makes them anything but equal to 99% of idiots outside Codex that make fun of situations like this one.
Uh wut bro? We were talking about how shoving the gun up an enemy's nose still gives a pretty low chance to hit (and in my case a shotgun, that is usually treated to be a "guaranteed" hit at that distance), and you play the "You just don't know how turn based combat works!" card?

Now it makes you look like one of those Bioware/Bethesda fanbois who cannot accept criticism towards their holy grail. Relax bro, it's just game.

I know exactly what I said and you are just showing same stupidness I called you out on. Being that close up does not necessarily mean 100% hit chance, not even in real life.

Xcom EU/EW just put it like that to reduce some RNG and prevent more people from showing themselves as idiots that don't have a clue.

For example in Fallout 4, it is hardest to hit Ghouls that are at melee range pounding on you (this is one of the rare things F4 did well). RNG in Xcom 2 should reflect this.

It's not that hard to understand that shooting at someone who is still and waiting at a position in a TB game doesn't equal to doing the same in real time... Turns depict small time periods where movement happens or at least that's what they should do.
For this reason I always wanted to have a real time "replay" of my fights in TB games. I think it would be really cool.

It is way harder than you think. I went into these discussions with multiple streamers and viewers in Xcom streams and you be surprised how dense these people are.

so all this edginess, from a funny pic i posted? did i said i am against it or for it? yeah, RNG might be ridiculous sometimes, but i dont mind it. It can be done better, improved? Most likely.

Codex... we are so special, but actually we are the same as the others TM, but with less moderation. That's actually the only difference between codex and the rest (imho). We have good moderators that are not SJW or completely batshit insane, well, not all of them :), most likely due to DU, since we do have some "special" snowflakes that will kill this site in a month if they would have the power.

What we were talking about? I am hungry. Bye

The placement of Facilities is the way it is to promote the value of Facility Leads, I'd imagine. If they were easy to reach Facility Leads would be next to worthless.

That changes a lot. I was thinking this only reveals where next facility is without ability to assault them. Let's hope now that I built Skulljack those suckers will spit away that bonus. That would help my early-late game a lot.

And I also made a mistake about Bladestorm. The description says if someone enters, moves or melee attacks ranger then this ability will trigger. It is melee Return Fire.

I am watching MAL and Beaglerush between my own sessions and game is ridiculous at times. First guy recorded a situation where one of enemy troopers in Retaliation Op moves around, forcing civilian to run which set overwatch on offcier who turned around and hit him for 3 hp then civilian turned into Faceless. I also read in comments someone beat Avenger Defence in 2 minutes because one of the turrets he had built missed the shot and somehow destroyed EMP Emitter on the other side of the map. Missing 90% shots are cringeworthy but you could always miss, hit gas tank and kill your own soldier in the process or shoot through the floor he is standing dealing 2 or 3 damage from fall and potentially leaving him without any cover.

Yeah, the Avenger defense is very exploitable with certain setups. Grenades work at pretty long range, and if you trigger avenger defense later (I believe it autotriggers after one of the close-to-end-game plot missions) you can destroy it from the starting location with blaster launchers. Earlier, there's phantom ranger + sniper cheese.

I guess it was designed the way it is to account for new players not understanding the nature of the mission, but even if you don't exploit it I'd argue the constant reinforcements make it easier than the average mission in the game.

I just get Avenger mission early. So many mechas...

I just did Avenger Down last night, got it fairly late in my L/I campaign. My psi magus mind controlled an Andromedon, walked it over to the cliff overlooking the maguffin and 2 shot it  Spent the next ten turns farming kills on my lower ranked troops until I got bored.

Gaem is gud but suffers from the same problem as its forebear in that the challenge nosedives if you're competent enough to keep your roster healthy and tooled up past the first couple months. Mimic beacon breaks the game more than mimetic skin ever did in EW, bring 2 and you cant lose. I'll try it army of four style and ignore beacons and psi completely next time. Or research some mods I guess. Any recommendations?

A shame Firaxis didn't implement and enlarge on the second wave stuff for the sequel, though I suppose they figured modders would fill the gap.

Wait for the DLC to come out and then for someone to make Long War 2 (which if it happens is gonna take a while - important basic shit like has got to be done, then it all has to be rebalanced, etc. etc.). The game as-is is just too limited to one-turn nuking to give it enough for a second playthrough, even more so than vanilla EW, and even with minor patches that only fix the outright broken stuff.

Thanks to you guys who told me how Facility Leads work because that was the main reason I beat the game. It was really awesome how I pulled that facility down as I had Specialist who got Phantom from AWC, she bum-rushed Advent Trooper and hit the 26% chance for Facility Lead. That move won my campaign as I could focus on developing new tech while waiting and watching doomclock with ability to attack two AVATAR sites for 5 points of progress reduction. I have to say this game had really intense moments from early to late game.

The final mission took me 2 and half an hour because it was overloaded with tanky enemies. But I think it is stupid that you win it by focusing on objective while there are still dozens of aliens lingering around "arena" and they disappear in cinematic. It was still great idea to give my ranger wraith suit so he could grapple around stuff, use Run n' Gun and Rapid Fire. He was dealing to final boss 12 to 20 crit damage and immune for first attack + I could always use Psi Op Inspire or Stasis. I brought two Mimic Beacons and didn't use them at all because the amount of cheese I had from Mind Controls of my Psi soldiers, Haywire Protocols and general team composition made this mission really broken. My only mistake was to not take any medkit because Chryssalid poison is really dangerous. Also something was broken in last segment of this level because I couldn't lob grenades far for some reason.

I have to say Gunslinger with 3-shot ability, Lightning Hands, Face-off and other skills makes him very versatile and useful. Ranger is on the other hand broken as I can draw enemy fire away with Untouchable ability and other skills I mentioned. I had a situation in other mission when he used Wraith ability, passed a wall, killed with flanking shot an enemy and ran through another wall back thanks to Implecable. I also took two grenadiers, one focusing on firing grenades and equipped with W.A.R. Suit. I learned that Salvo goes really well with Powered AI Rocket. The other one was more of a support with Shredder, Holo-targetting, Chainshot and ability ensuring he will hit his target. Specialist was really situational; Capacitator Discharge killed Gatekeeper, 3 Archons but other than that his role was to haywire any robotic units or using combat protocol on any stragglers left after other abilites were used or using AWC Chainshot perk. I still think if it would be better to take medic to deal with injuries and any status effects but that unit is usually worthless provided you don't get hit at all.

So in other words I took 2 Grenadiers, Gunslinger, Ranger, Specialist, Psi Operative and each one of them was supporting one other to the point where I could trigger multiple pods. Last fight was all about killing melee enemies and keeping others busy before they could do major damage and having 3 soldiers focused on objective. The story was really nice and I am curious what Fireaxis will bring next.

And Rapid Fire with AP rounds is OP.

WHERES THE PERFORMANCE PATCH

I just want the game to stop loading all the mods onto the ram at once, I want to be able to use my PC after I close the fucking game.

The game has been out for a month now and the only patch we've had was a """""""""""""""""""""hotfix""""""""""""""" 2 weeks after release that actually made the game run worse, what the fuck are they doing.

Making DLC, why would they spend time on stuff they aren't paid for? :')

Haha. I'll use em.

Mostly, looking forward to the optimization. I kinda lost the will to play after the hot "fix" slowed my framerate even more.

I don't get the point of this expansion. I have nothing against customization DLC, but I never felt the urge in having my XCOM operative look like they were the vilains from Batman.
