The release date looks like a deliberate take-that against Gear Tactics (four days before!)

The Humans+Aliens does make sense. Just consider the typical "evil alien overlord" scenario, where the enemy troops themselves are largely slaves. That's nothing new, really, and found across genres (HL2, anyone?).

But I'm still not sure if I'm interested, since XCOM 2 pretty much killed my excitement for anything that is more like it and less like classic X-COM.

He's not wrong, Ethereals were at the top of the alien hierarchy in the original X-COM.

Muton interrogation:

This humanoid creature is physically powerful and intelligent. They have a particular appetite for consuming raw flesh of any kind, which they need for sustenance like earth based carnivores. They appear to rely on telepathic commands from a race known as Ethereals. Once separated from this telepathic link their mental system appears to break down and they die. The cybernetic implants are used to enhance their combat performance. They are clearly the foot soldiers for a higher intelligence.

Ethereal interrogation:

This being has awesome mental powers which allow for telepathic communication and telekinetic abilities. The apparently weak physical abilities of this creature are sustained by its mental powers. We do not understand how these telekinetic powers work, since they seem to defy the laws of physics as we know them. They are extremely dangerous in any combat situation, where they rely on their mental powers for combat. They rarely appear on Earth since they seem to rely on other races to pursue their objectives.

Xeno scum wasn't required to kill them then, there's no reason to work with xeno scum now.

X-COM aliums were mutated cross-bred hybrid cyborg abominations engineered for warfare by their ethereal overlords. It was kool. This anti-racism taskforce is the opposite of kool.

If we are living in the bad timeline, this means that X-COM 3 has been scrapped... And this is just an mashing together of the assets and combat prototype to make some form of return on the investment...

Pathfinder: Wrath
When I saw this on Steam I knew that Codex feathers will get ruffled

"WE ARE NOT KILLING THE ALIEN ANYMORE? DIVERSITY?"

:liberals:

Game looks OK I guess for 8 USD game (it costs 8 USD with the 50% discount and Steam Regional Pricing)? Probably will be a decent 15 - 20 hours game from the look of it. Having aliens with different abilities is a nice change of pace. Hopefully, missions are designed around actually using them instead of just a gimmick and we ended up still shooting most things anyway.

Yeah, tiresome diversity schtick is tiresome - but the gameplay does look quite interesting. Will they be able to pull it off? Let's see!
the trailer had diversity stacked on diversity. It was awesome. Not enough to just be a whamen nogger/asian, now you can get whamen snake nogger/blasians...fucking incline. We should never be fighting for nationalistic reasons anyway, we should accept our alien friends into the fold so they can join the true fight against the white nazis. I think Firafax is just starting to see the light is all, and adjusting the games goals to be more enlightened with more modern sensibilities.
