Continuation of the steep decline of the 2000s, the first half of the decade is godawful, though in the latter half devs breaking free from the core industry with Kickstarter as well as the rise in prominence of indie dev in general really saved it.
Also, the decade where soy-drinkers (gamers and devs both) rose to prominence - where the games of the 2000s were decline, at least stylistically and thematically they were still cool. Now everything is about the delusional superiority of women, anime cringe galore, meme concepts (e.g goat simulator), "games as art" which typically involves removing player involvement and intelligence, as well as going for a minimalist art style. Even Halo, Silent Hill 2, Gears of War and Shadow of The Colossus are less lame conceptually than the new age of soy, jesus.
Popamole of course remains and as prominent as ever from the 2000s so it really was a shit decade.
Disappointing as usual how many votes we have in here for Skyrim and plenty other worthless garbage for brainlets. Yep, I say this while including a vote for Fallout 4, which while decline, if you can't see how it is 10x better than Skyrim then you're a bit dim. But I will spell it out for you - things like no regen health, more complex dungeons, ammo management and other resource management in the absence of anything in Skyrim, hardcore mode - basically, FO4 while dumb at least follows fundamental, crucial game design concepts unlike braindead Skyrim. Also even simple things like being able to jump while sprinting, attack while airborne, or a favorites mechanic that isn't the worst thing ever goes a long way.
There's also lots of people arguably bending (what should be) the rules or incorrect entries here, e.g
Lemming42 put Far Cry 3 down as 2013 when it was 2012. Probably because there is fuck all of value in 2013 but he has to save face with his claim that the 2010s are incline lol.
