Initial thoughts while watching the trailer:

They couldn't have gone any safer than vikings, especially plagiarizing the protagonist from that bullshit soap opera.

Assassin's Creed: White Supremacy? Seriously I can't think of a way even Ubisoft could manage to shoehorn blacks in this setting.

Can't wait for the strong independent blonde vikings kicking ass shoulder to shoulder with the men.

This is a historical moment in gaming where the barbarious pirates who were the horror of Christian Europe will be presented as servants of Social Justice.

The gameplay will probably be shit.

I just want my Prince of Persia 2008 sequel
You and me both man!

If I had to choose between Origins or Odyssey, which one would you guys recommend. The most important thing is that there is as little boat/ship combat as possible.
Origins, don't go anywhere near the trash i.e Odyssey.
Just play Origins, only play Origins. Play the Hidden Ones dlc as well.

As least this game will have barbarians.
You will be free to roleplay a barbarian, in a socially conscious, politically correct and environmentally sustainable way, with due respect to the diversity of cultures, religions and beliefs of others.

Yay, another huge, beautiful and bland open world with boring, repetitive stuff to do in it!

Honestly I was expecting something more like all of northern Europe. Having it all be just in England is...interesting.
Wait, it's not all of Northern Europe in open world? :decline:

How will woman viking do the raping?

This series is clearly targeted at the virgin guys segment of the audience. That's not how the force works.

Will there be an option to side with Wessex and crush the disgusting murderous pagan scum with Alfred the Great for the glory of god?

I always wonder why people expect the AC series to have any sort of historical accuracy. One of the most important element there are the Isu a civilisation (previously called those who came before) which had supercomputer 77k Years ago and used them to simulate the future. Then they found out that the sun will explode so they copied their minds into AIs and used them to influence humanity a race which they created as slaves.
But still, despite the fact that the series extremely dumb lore people are mad about female Vikings.

Because it used to have historical accuracy. Sort of. AC 1 setting was great, a war torn Palestine with foreign soldiers roaming around, violence and corrpution. And there weren't women crusaders (except for one). AC 2 was a beautiful rendition of the italian reinassance. AC III too was somewhat accurate. IV was stupid. Unity accuracy of the revolutionary Paris is something we can all agree was very good.

If by AC4 you mean Black Flag I would say it was pretty good pirate game in terms of atmosphere and soundtrack. I think all AC games really excelled at that. Gameplay has always been AC:s weak-spot. A lot of repetitive game mechanics that's very typical of the series.

lol at people asking why this is in GRPG when it's more of an RPG than the CYOAs already here

It's because of the name, babe. The first AC game wasn't an RPG, it was a retarded power fantasy parkour Dan Brown visual novel. So was every AC game until Odyssey, which is a power fantasy, some jumping and climbing, Dan Brown RPG.

And much butthurt was had, when Odyssey was released.

Angry autistic basement dwellers screeched in unison. Oh why can't I just press the awesomebutton to win any more? Why do I have to make choices? Why are there dialogue options? Why oh why can I choose a gender because according to the lore and the Animu reeeeeeeeeeeeee

One of the things I like about the AC games is the attention to historic detail in the non-story related parts.

They're set in historical periods, so they do at least try to make things look authentic to the untrained eye and the uneducated brain. It's all shit of course and about 0% historically accurate in any way that matters, but the normies think the AC series is basically the same as reading the highschool history curriculum.

It's about as historically accurate as a Dan Brown novel, which is appropriate, because that's what the Ubi excecs had just read when they greenlit the series.

Because it used to have historical accuracy. Sort of.

Yeah, very *sort of*. In fact incredibly sort of. In fact it's easier and shorter just to say it isn't really historically accurate at all, in any meaningful way.

The entire series was based on a second rate Dan Brown and is suffering still because of that decisions - because it was a dumb decision. Turns out, adventures in historical settings are really interesting and Dan Brown is not.

edit: four butthurt Dan Brown autists have rated this post (and apparently the Commissar who found the China button)

I assume he knows a lot about the subject or they wouldn't have hired him.
No, it looks like he got the job because he was someone's friend. Don't get me wrong, he's an expert at a completely different field of study. Just not the Norse. He knows almost nothing about the Norse, and was surprised they used shields to hit people. He also thinks Vikings invented sailing in the 9th century.

Can we make a new forum section for games that aren't actually really RPGs but are just action Games with forced half assed rpg mechanics thrown in as an afterthought? We could literally call it the rpg-lite subforum. I'm betting this game will follow the same decisions all these openworld triple a games have been going with recently so we might as well get ahead of the curve and put it where it belongs

I'm pretty excited for his. The only knowledge I really have from this time period is from "the last kingdom" but it seems like a good historical setting. I'm betting we leave behind our people and go out own kind of mixed way because I don't know if anybody knows this but the Vikings were bad people.

Whoa hold up, it's a completely different story when it's non-RPGs they like. Then different rules apply.
