Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
The comment of the dude in the first village that the wildlife will soon form a party made me chuckle.

Also, are skills passive? Stealth, for example? How does it even work, can I, technically, stand in front of a dude and take cookie out of his hand if I'm skilled enough with stealth? I stole a lot of stuff already and no one seems to care.

Almost all of the skills work in a passive way.
Stealth just lowers NPC detection radius making it possible to get away with stealing or walking away from encounters in the wild.

IMO there's a lot of 'useful' skills but none of them require that much of an investment.
The best investment is still speechcraft for additional reward and quest resolutions.
Followed by weapon skill that you prefer.

The book seller in Krasno has 4 skill books. But they won't work if you have 100 on the respective skill.
And they're very good buys for early game:
- Two books worth total +34 Speechcraft
- +14 Survival
- +13 First Aid

Don't forget you can resale the books to recoup the cash.

You can treat the jew to some cigarettes for a Barter Hat.

Party runs more smoothly now with improved UI and party AI.
Companions automatically adjust their position upon risk of friendly fire now, so that's great.

Fidel is more flexible now with Pistol + Cast Iron Shield. With perks, he can shoot more often in combat, add in +3 DEX from toadstool and 2x sweet cakes and he's a decent and tanky pistol user. Don't forget you can give him SMG in his off hand for Burst damage as well. Switch as needed.

Hex should still be a rifleman IMO, because the monster lore HP vision is now enabled if one of your party member takes it. So definitely give him all the rifle perks and Dragunov eventually to take advantage of the critical chance boost. There's also a way to take advantage of the shield by giving him a pistol / any melee weapon in his off hand. When he needs to run, tell him to switch weapons and he'll pull out his cast iron shield on the back for the massive DT boost.

Eh... can somebody help, I was a bit reckless and failed to answer the questions Ariadne (Mushroom Cult) gave me twice, now she won't talk to me anymore. As far as I understand she is needed to progress in the main quest? How do I go from here, I don't want to lose multiple hours of gameplay.

RK47 The Red Fighter is still a empty location with nothing to do beyond the upgrades. Am I right?

5. Somewhat hidden skill ups and attribute ups
There are three ways to permanently raise your attributes.
  1. Roaring Forest idol - drop 3 cuts of meat as offering on the Idol's Circle for +1 Luck
  2. Roaring Forest caverns - loot a serum from a corpse by a death beast. Do not linger, the area is highly poisonous and the beast has life stealing attacks.
  3. Otradnoye - you need high Luck for this, fish a golden fish and release it. Consume alcohol to boost luck. Prepare for a lot of retries.

there's another one

another serum in dead city - solve the cube riddle at the stalker camp, requires high pickpocket (80+) after that(

btw dead city was so disappointing. such a great atmosphere and "stalker" environment, yet hardly anything to do there.

Have Fidel join the party and talk to the informant in Krasno's casino.
The alternate option is very expensive. Good luck.

Afraid so.
There's the couple from Dan's Factory joining you. They don't seem to have any function except for background NPCs.
Then there's the ammo crafter that can help supply you if you build a work bench.

9iRVW9w.jpg

There's also a radio giving random distress call.

It's just a trader being attacked by random bandits. I got 1000 ruble from the caravan master upon successful rescue.
There's also a barbel that can give +1 STR if you successfully lift 40 kilos. You'll need STR 8 to trigger the Trained buff (+1 STR)

If you add the kitchen area, the slave you rescue will work there, giving you free food.

K2jCAZJ.jpg

But the biggest deal of all is probably getting the rest area and recruiting Alexander. You'll need a high personality (7) for it. He starts at level 13, but his skill and perk default is not so good.

UlwwZng.jpg

As you can see they build him as a melee fighter. So you have very little option but to employ the standard cast iron shield and pistol if you want him not to die alone in the front.
However, he can be fixed by the newly added Oblivion ampoule. In the Krasno sewers, you'll find a trader selling it for 7000 ruble.

Alexander can now be 'fixed'

izDVoIw.png

He can be turned into a automatic rifle killing machine. Or whatever you wish.
13 levels worth of skill points are available to redistribute into 199 weapon skill with leftovers.
I gave him Quick Reactions (free half turn) and Armor of God for perks.
He also doesn't need INT or PER.

I don’t understand what these developers were thinking. Why waste so much effort in a location if there is no real activity in there? The place need proper management activity and quests. Otherwise is pointless. Crossroad Keep in NWN2 was the only stronghold in cRPGs that got it right. Shame.

I think the biggest wtf is when you upgrade it , you lose access until the upgrade is finished.

Red Fighter is touted as
a future economic powerhouse, yet there's very little outside of the ending clip to convey that. Gozhin says Red Fighter will be a big deal, the game ends, and then Red Fighter is a big deal.
Not expecting Sim City here, but helping the town through the earliest development phase would've been nice. Act as the town's representative in a dispute with the farmers, deal with Krasno sending thugs around for a tithe, etc. As it stands the player's impact is limited to their house in the form of superficial upgrades. Otradnoye has so much more going on, like the half dozen zany characters whose visits are randomised, or a questline to decide the town's leader. Not to mention its in a central area of the wastes on the way to other places, whereas Red Fighter is in the middle of nowhere.

Also maybe we can get some bees for those unused bee huts near the house. Waiting patiently for the long awaited bee update.

Mark Richard I think this is the main problem of Atom RPG. The disparity in content between different locations. The more quests they add, the longer the longevity and positive reception. A bigger world with empty locations doesn’t feel big.

Wadup guys! I came to make some posts!

Whens the dlc hitting?
There is a DLC coming?
Gonna do that in the end of May! The announcement will come soon.

Eh... can somebody help, I was a bit reckless and failed to answer the questions Ariadne (Mushroom Cult) gave me twice, now she won't talk to me anymore. As far as I understand she is needed to progress in the main quest? How do I go from here, I don't want to lose multiple hours of gameplay.
You can't really fail the main quest, you just made it a little harder to do. The Mushroom cult simply aims you in the right directions to pass the story, but you can always find those locations on your own or just storm their mushroom house and be done with it.

The Dead City will get a ton more stuff to do in the May DLC. A murder plot, several dungeons, the works. I posted this before, yet I'll say it again. The problem here was we actually needed this whole Dead City map only to host the shroom/AI bunker, it was meant to be tiny. But due to I don't really know what, it became a huge ass map. A huge ass map we never even imagined in our game plan... But now, since it is what it is and it's too late to back down and make it tiny, we're making it full of people. As for red fighter, well, what can I say, it's three times the size of what was planned at first, but we'll add something else with the DLC or after it. It kinda does look pretty barren.

I really think that after all the crippling bugs are fixed, yall start liking DC. If not for the incestual inbreeds then for the giant mole crickets and serial killer.

i'm assuming we are also going to meet a certain legendary stalker, that's supposed to roam abandonded tunnels. funny thing about your game is that almost all things you add are already foreshadowed in npc dialogue. this actually makes the additional content seem more natural, compared to any additions that are just there due to "popular demand". you seem to have a pretty clear idea what you want to do and what your world - apart from the regions we already visited - looks like.

never backed a game before, but if you ever start another campagne i will try to be one of the first backers. you deserve every single buck you get and more.

I can't read 123 pages of forum threads at the moment but I am looking for something to play that resembles F2. Is this the game?

Nah. It doesn't have talking Deathclaws and Tesla armored KGB agents abducting people for experiments to help bring Communist Party back into power. Game world is so stupid that you need to grow food or hunt for animals instead of using Gulag of Eden Creation Kit

Also no Laser or Plasma weapons is such a big loss.

This is the game that feels and looks the most like Fallout 1-2, but improved in many ways, more user friendly too. The character system is basically a 1:1 copy, mostly the same skills and attributes, with the exception of perks which are IMO worse. There's also the addition of crafting (Tinkering skill) which is quite useful in the beginning of the game. The main quest leaves you as free as the quest for the water chip / GECK. The setting is different though, obviously, so that might affect how you like it. The NPCs and writing is pretty good, and it has recently got a polish pass.

By comparison, ATOM is much closer to Fallout than AoD, despite AoD being obviously influenced by it.
