Balancing assault rifles vs pistols is impossible if you want to stay grounded in reality. The only thing pistols are better at is concealment, which can definitely be used to some degree in videogames e.g., smuggling them into casinos in FNV.
But if you're staying grounded in reality, being hit with a bullet from either is going to put a damper on your day.

If you're talking about games with shallow mechanics like Fallout where terrain isn't a factor and combat just boils down to who can do the most DPS(DPT), sure.

JA2 (at least with the 1.13 mod) already had a specific niche for pistols as they cost less AP to ready and fire, too bad the game didn't really encourage high mobility close range playstyles.
Doorkickers is probably the best example of a game where pistols are weaker than automatics but remain viable since that game does in fact encourage high mobility close range playstyles, in addition to letting you use a shield along with a pistol for slower missions. Not turn based but making something with the same fundamentals wouldn't be too hard.

I'm talking about real life where pistols are inferior in every situation except where you can't openly carry a firearm or are in very close quarters
also, antigun(antifun) people severely underestimate how difficult it is to shoot a pistol accurately compared to a rifle.

Would be great if map zoom values saved. Tired zooming out every time.
Larger map window would be handy also (3/4 of screen, not 50%)
And thanks for amazing game, keep up the good work!

2 simple questions - Did I miss a lot of content by not talking to everyone in daytime vs. night? And is it possible and feasible to return later to finish up quests like the snitch quest?

This is a good game. Some minor work is needed on the aesthetics though. Like the font in the character screen is god awful.

The load times of this game are great btw. Further proof that load times have nothing to do with unity and everything to do with bad programmers.

What's the proper way to deal with the three men who think each other is infected with a parasite worm?

I wrote down all their stories and compared them, none of them match up.

Realize they're all superstitious and crazy and make a great team. Seriously, that's what I did. Either that or they're all infected, but I got 109 XP for deciding they were all just being superstitious and paranoid, thus uniting them again as a team.

I think it's Markelov.

Nothing really hints at it before deciding though so...

All their stories have oddities and don't match up, so I'd say either all of them have the sickness or none of them do. Could be wrong. Maybe you're right. But he actually seemed the most normal to me out of the three, hah.

Yeah there's no way I would have came to that conclusion without savescumming so I'll just go with telling them they're superstitious.

well they go full psycho if you tell all have diff stories and as such implie there s a worm. ofc you can think it s all superstition and the psycho thing is just the pressure, but mistaking a dog for a cat or cats? mistaking the whole climate and how the car crashed? at least for me there was two worms there for sure. after that the is another npc that tells a story about this gas lady and she was dead for quite some time it seems, so perhaps it was 3 worms. that said i killed all of them

All three of them also refer to the lady by a different name(Valya, Zina, and Nadia.) Interestingly, I just noticed something when reviewing my notes.

Ivan refers to the old lady as living in a cabin. Both Markelov and Kasparov referred to is as a "ruined gas station" and "dilapidated gas station" respectively. Maybe that was the tell?

I think it's likely that all 3 had the worms. Or were just dumb and not good with details. But probably all had the worm. But I don't know how you guys are killing people, I am punching and kicking still and getting my ass handed to me at every turn. Need to find a decent pistol already :D

When you declare that all three are infected and you're leaving, the reaction that Disco Dan gives is a good confirmation to me.

only the guard has a weapon, the merchant only puches and the guide kills both anyway since he only has a fucking grenade. so as long as you can tank it and do minimal dmg you'll be fine. plus it s a random event so you could had it a lot earlier than me.

Why not use spoiler tags. This forum is the worst for dropping spoilers like it's nothing. I can't even read the Kingmaker thread anymore.
