The QA in question quit soon after to work somewhere less retarded, and the manager was fired about half a year later or so once the CEO realized that the literally only thing she ever did was fellate his ego and tyrannize her subordinates (who were miles more qualified than her). But hey, 7+ years of experience in a leadership position at Ubisoft... And you wonder why they only produce slop. I really, really wish it was a case of greedy suits blidly following market trends. The reality is much worse in that they're just THIS retarded.

THEN you have to figure out how to respond without using words like "fucktard," "moron" or "die in a fire you fucktard moron," since it came from a manager.
The correct way to respond is by quoting the section of the interface design document that specifies how to run and then close the bug with the "Not A Bug' tag. If the manager objects it has to pick a fight with all the people who approved the design doc.

The meta-lesson is that the way you get stuff done in a large corporate environment is by manipulating the unproductive deadwood into fighting with each other instead of interfering with the fraction of the workforce that actually works.

TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the programmers in game studios are still passionate about the work and that's why they're there. (Well that and inertia where moving on once they see the reality of the situation feels like too much effort.) The careerists and Karens are more often in the writing and designing groups and unfortunately, they're the ones who seem to have control.
Nah, design tends to be the most passionate in my experience (until being constantly told "no, that's too much effort" by management kills them inside) and writing is so fucking amateur that concepts like "career" don't even register. All the shitheads are always, ALWAYS in management (and possibly marketing, but marketing has a very small pull so who cares). And you think it's them being nefariously greedy or aiming at a mass market or whatever, but no, they're just stupid. That's the worst thing about it all – they're just colossaly dumb, so dumb that I think if you replaced them with the janitors cleaning up trash in the office, they'd probably do a better job. I personally witnessed a project manager from Ubisoft of 7 years (!!!) being sat down in front of a game.
This is correct. Designers are generally the most passionate as they're the most delusional/naive, and with the most to prove because they don't bring technical skills to the game

It's always the cowardly Producers/Managers whose jobs rely on development being on-time and under-budget that scythe down to the soil any good ideas/design

Only solved by said Producers/Managers being told and authorized to be more risk-taking and invested in the overall quality of the product

Then again, the ones making the judgements on that quality are also retarded, so really the whole thing just needs to crash

meh i dunno, the game looks shit, super safe space boring artstyle and NPC's. For whatever reason already hate that merman character they keep trying to market the game with. Skippity skip.

Did they sack the racist art director guy? or maybe the strategy is to just stay out of the news entirely and silent release with 10/10 shill sites?

They're not skilled enough to work in other fields. Video game customers are the only people who pay full price and accept a product full of bugs that requires a year (or more) of post-release patching.
You might be right but honestly, over the last few years I would say that the issue of bugs is like 4 or 5 down on the list of why games are shit.

Most def. Most of the Codex’ in house favourites were absolutely riddled with bugs at release. Bloodlines had a game-breaking crash after a main quest until patch 1.2 lol. Bad and uninspired game design is so much worse

When they said it was the "final preview" they meant it. That was it.

Also it's still the holiday season/early January. Everything shuts down around this time every year.
They could also by laying low so their recent controversies subside and are forgotten.

Do not suffer simulationist faggotry to thrive
You're mad. In my opinion simulationist approach is more positive than negative most of the time.

I'll tell you why this happens

It's because nobody in modern game dev fights for anything. Yeah we know these people treat making games as a 9-5 day job, but it's worse than that. Nobody actually cares enough to push against the overbearing levels of laziness and pessimism that permeates all western based companies. Nobody believes in the craft or the medium.

Much of this comes from the brutally effective rick and morty esque "we're all gonna die anyway and nothing matterns" Jewish demoralisation propaganda, but a lot is due to lowered testosterone, weak willed women, and incompetent managers/seniors that are only a couple shakes from getting into the c-suite that they're never going to rock the boat.

Thus, 3 classes, and a tiny ass scoped games. Nobody is fighting for more. Every time it gets a bit hairy, they just cut work down. 10 classes? Why not 7? 5? Wow good point, less work for me. ☺️

Fundamentally unfixable on a cultural level. Need a crash to purge all normies so the passionate nerds can rebuild.
Microsoft bought themselves a RPG studio, and new title will be released on GamePass in this financial quarter come hell or high water. All features that won't make a cut will be delivered as DLC.

The goal of Fortune 50 company is to create value for shareholders, not to take risks. Putting your hopes and dreams in one is a bit misguided.

And now the good news - Microsoft does not have patent or monopoly on creating RPG. You are free to buy early access title, support a Kickstarter campaign, and if none of them meet the level of ambition you are expecting - create your own one.

Truly dystopian future will come when all the money and resources of Microsoft will be sufficient to make truly groundbreaking RPG. Or necessary to compete with latest amazing RPG released by Electronic Arts.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.

It clearly comes from American vidya companies growing too fat and lazy with unearned success. In 2010 widely revered gaming gods like Bethesda, Bioware, Blizzard, Valve and others have learned they can push out any undercooked random garbage and it'll be gobbled up by legions of brainless consoom sheep (well Valve grew so torpid they've stopped making anything at all). That's such an unhealthy incentive.

Another factor is the enormous influx of diversity hires obviously, chiefly women writers dominating a mostly male hobby.

All that clay edifice is gonna disintegrate in the next few years, many major publishers will go through bankruptcy or a grounds-up restructuring (starting with Ubisoft, I suspect). After this Chicxulub event only a few entities will survive and everyone will have to learn to make games for the relevant gaming audiences again.

Shillup loves it, we are so back

...I played Veilguard and was disappointed for bunch of reasons...

I suppose, the praise coming from somebody with such views has to amount to something.
Perhaps there would be some redeemable qualities in Avowed, after all?

From his reactions to the Godlike and the games general reactivity, he's not played and Pillars games lol.

Sounds like he's not an RPG gamer at all, just a CoD player who's now stretching his boundaries, and will be impressed by stuff which proper gamers are more than used to.

Despite him almost single-handedly destroying Veilguard's hopes to ever be anything more than a meme he's still a normie, not an RPG nerd. He's still impressed by shallow glitz, can't tolerate any level of jank regardless of how much heart and soul is beating underneath it and thinks Destiny is the best thing since flush toilet.

He's basically TotalBiscuit 2.0, including his propensity to be the sole mainstream reviewer not afraid to blast media darlings (his TLoU 2 review is also great, though it unfortunately failed to make a dent into the game's commercial prospects).

Bloodlines had a game-breaking crash after a main quest until patch 1.2 lol.

But only for one of the seven clans. I mean why would QA test the ugly clan too ;)?

No, for all of them. The boat escape from the cave resulted in a CTD.

https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/560-vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-patch-12/

As far as I know this readme is inaccurate, the crash only happened for Nosferatu players. Tim Cain confirmed this himself!
