That could very well be Daigle since he's established himself as a goon

Though unlike Sawyer, Daigle is a D&D-disrespecting hack who nerfs established creature stats and creates absurd monty haul loot campaigns. Josh disrespects it in an entirely different way. :P

There's going to be a next time? They better bench Amber, actually bench all of them and hire MCA.
Let's not bring MCA into this:

Chris Avellone has played Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear and is "pretty jealous" of its writing
Source: http://www.pcgamesn.com/baldurs-gat...agonspear-being-pretty-jealous-of-its-writing
Seems pretty truthful to me. He must have been jealous of the fact that someone actually got paid to write that.

Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex USB, 2014 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Ouch, it's half way down page 3 on the list of top sellers. The store page is also just a long stream of thumbs down reviews.

Wasn't it on page 5 yesterday? One could say it's an improvement sales-wise. How long for generally accurate steamspy numbers? Like 2 weeks?

EDIT: Never mind, DLC doesn't show up does it?

Codex Year of the Donut Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
430,000 BG:EE players on Steamspy, SoD achievement ratio is 0.5%...now at least 2150 SoD owners.

BTW, using the same technique, we can calculate that Pillars of Eternity: The White March Part 1 has at least 17,780 owners.

Let's assume SoD has sold 3500 units, considering GoG and maybe Beamdog's own sales. Let's also assume every single purchase was done paying full price (were only the regular EEs discounted during the weekend?). Do we have the info on SoD's budget? I don't imagine it was that much, but 70.000USD is still pitiful, for what it's supposed to be ex-Bioware *and* a major classic which markets itself at least in theory.

"Katherine Cross is a Ph.D student in sociology who researches anti-social behavior online"

Translation: Katherine Cross has spent a lot of time in school to pursue a degree in a field that is not really all that competitive. In addition, she likes to spend time on the internet looking for posts that are offensive to her.

Seriously, my dog could get a PhD in sociology. It's probably no harder to get than a business related PhD (of which I could have easily gotten if I wanted to be a student for 5 more years, get paid dog shit during that time, and overall hate my life as a researcher.)

Don't be swayed by the almost-degree. That opinion piece is full of pathetic hand waving of facts contrary to her opinion.

I'm just saying, there's two types of graduate degrees: those you pay for, and those that pay you.

While this does not excuse bad writing, when has Baldur's Gate had good writing? Shit, a part of me feels that all the good parts like Irenicus were the result of Black Isle meddling rather than BioWare seeing the quality of their writing in every other game.

Why is she bringing up the laws in Carolina and Mississippi? Does she honestly think that any one of us support/give a single fuck about those laws? I guess criticizing a game for shitty, fanfic level writing and stupid jabs at GG make us all tranny hating bigots.

Seriously though no one is hating on trannies or cucks or whatever gets your clit buzzing.

Transgenderism and Beamdog's smugness aside, is the game any good? I assume it isn't if people are complaining about the details.

It is better than PoE from what i understand. :M

No thanks to Beamdog of course. Just D&D being superior to the shit Sawyer came up with.
yep, this whole episode actually highlights how superior D&D is compared to whatever abomination Sawyer invented. The fact is despite the SJW shit, the actual game itself is more fun to play than PoE as mentioned earlier in the thread when people were actually still playing the game.

PoE would be the far superior product if they had just used D&D (or pathfineder, D20 whatever) instead of Sawyers shit, but it did not, so instead we are left with this fucking debacle where SJW make a more fun game to actually play--not because they are more talented, but simply because D&D and its systems and itemization, and lore and character development are vastly more fun and superior to anything one is likely to conjure up in a year or two. Not only did Sawyer waste his time making his shitty RPG mechanics, he actually made the game he was working on worse because of it...if he had simply used D&D (or the generic gaming license whatever it is called) he could have saved himself a huge amount of time and effort that could have instead gone to making PoE a fun game to play.

But instead we gamers are left with a bunch of clowns on both sides who don't seem to know what gamers want or even who their audience is, so instead they keep putting out compromised products, and missing the mark and seem confused or befuddled as to why.
Eventually they will likely decide there is no market for CRPG's, or its not worth the effort; yet the answer is so simple and sits there right in front of their face...but frustratingly it continues to be unseen by these overblown blowhards who are seemingly more interested in pushing SJW politics or their own balanced gameplay agenda on people. These fuckers are incompetents, who are full of themselves IMO.

It is, and never have I wanted to quit out of dialogue so quickly. You literally have to go through it, though, when it begins. It's in the city, the sleeping elf or whatever.

On the other hand, you get a pair of glasses that improves detect illusion and lets you interact with some creatures on another plane.

That article in which she praises Amber is hillarious. http://feministing.com/2014/03/27/a...leplaying-game-religions-work-as-moral-tools/

She rants about her "evil traditionalist Catholic family" for a while.
For me, RPGs were where I learned that it was possible to construct a faith not premised on the misogynist, homophobic, and even racist assumptions that informed my father’s vision of Roman Catholicism (a version often validated in the pulpit and made manifest through a glaring lack of female clergy that I questioned long before I even knew what “feminism” was).

And later she talks about her Lawful Good RPG character:
She manifested her virtue not only through charitable works of the traditional sort, but also by counseling safe sex, helping gay townspeople come out, combating the stigma of slut-shaming, and condemning those who would repress or inhibit sexual expression in others. She even carried abortifacients (though she never had occasion to use them).

Later she praises Amber Scott's pathfinder adventure like some would praise Dostoyevsky or Dante, or in a more Codexian example, MCA.

In my opinion, there are few things that made the outcry a lot different for two companies.

The timing, when Firedorn Saga happened, few people outside GG cared about SJWs and almost everyones reaction was "Its just a stupid poem, noone cares.". On the other hand Mizhena Saga comes at the time when there are a lot more people tired with the whole SJW bullshit, with the latest being the Overwatch ass controversy.

Reaction of Obsidian was done much better, instead of attacking or mocking their fans they simply shifted the blame from themselves and said it was authors decision to change and that they also didnt want to change it. I personally think thats bullshit but it was enough for majority of their fans.

Fans, while majority of Obsidian fans are long time followers who are willing to forgive companies mistakes as long they provide them with the games they will enjoy. Beamdog fans are not really their fans but fans of BG, and Beamdog already had a shaky relationship with them due poor releases of EE editions, inserting SJW politics was only the last drop that lead to outrage.

Personally I think Firedorn Saga is far greater wrongdoing. Obsidian shit on their fans due a complain of a random nutjob and for what, a shitty poem no sane person cared about.

As for Mizhena, I dont care about people putting trannies in games or preaching about values of diversity or any other SJW bullshit. Im all for freedom of speech and artistic freedom, if its your game you are free to do anything you want with it. So Im all for that SJW nonsense to stay in the game, but that wont stop me from saying its retarded, saying its poorly written and forced, and that I will not be buying it.

I have the impression that all the backlash Beamdog receives is actually a continuation of that "fight" that started with the PoE drama. In PoE the sjw-extremists won the fight by getting some harmless joke removed. Now, gg-extremists and associates are taking their chances to pay back this "wrong-doing" they received from PoE. I think that's actually the main reason why everything started to get that much out of control.
Beamdog not shutting their mouth wasn't helping either. That's something they have to learn from Obsidian even if it's a hard and an unfair lesson to learn. aVENGER actually was cool enough to just answer technical/gameplay related questions here in a neutral tone.

Beamdog may not have delivered the best expansion people would have loved. Personally I see a lot of technical issues with the EE compared to the original (and mods), mainly the blurred gfx (why, just why?). But I don't think 1-star reviews, a metacritic score of 3.7 and all that shitstorm is something they deserve. It's just completely out of proportion.

Both of you are right, but people who only play CRPGs need to understand what's going on in the rest of world. Of course anyone who has been paying attention to SJW issues knows about this, but a lot of people don't, from the looks of it.

There is basically a social media war going on, at the moment, between SJWs and their enemies within the gaming community. This issue, as said before, has become huge in recent years due to the perceived influence SJWs have on developers. To talk about the Blizzard example a week ago in a bit of detail, they were forced to remove this from their game:

tracer2.jpg

Yeah, that way of standing, right there, offended feminists enough for SJWs to pressure Blizzard into removing it. Anita Sarkeesian personally wrote that the game is sexist, and that's basically the last shit you want to have happen for a company that wants a "politically correct" image in today's social media. Even though Blizzard has gone to shit in recent years, the fact that this massive company, at the heart of Western gaming, is in retreat before SJWs, has a lot of people angry.

But it doesn't end there. Around the same time as Blizzard's fall back, we had this:

http://www.gamezone.com/originals/o...-japan-with-star-ocean-5-and-it-s-not-ok-jzlw

Now we all know how much the animu fans love that shit, so the fact that Western feminists and SJWs are spreading their beliefs to Japanese game developers also has that community angry.

Combine the other recent advances made by SJWs, including http://blogjob.com/oneangrygamer/20...ees-gamers-angry-with-sjws-for-ruining-gaming, http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Mi...DC-Party-With-Scantily-Clad-Women-125707.html, https://gamingreinvented.com/news/dead-or-alive-extreme-3-is-japan-only-because-of-sjws, and you have the idea, in people's heads, that there is a massive attack against media freedom in the West by feminism gone mad, though in a lot of ways, this "new feminism" has more in common with moral censorship than it does with actual liberalism.

Into this war jumps the writer of Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, declared member of the SJW movement, who represents all that people have come to hate about the movement. It's the equivalent of painting a target on your back and saying "LOOK AT ME, GAMERS! SEE WHAT I HAVE DONE WITH YOUR SEXIST FIFTEEN YEAR OLD GAME! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?"

So of course the media jumped right on it. Of course the angry community of gamers took the fight. Of course this all became bigger than little Beamdog ever thought it'd become. They effectively offered themselves up to be the new battle field, and regardless of the fact that the SJW in Siege of Dragonspear is a lot less than that in those other examples, regardless of the fact that this community is a lot smaller than the ones involved in the bigger SJW conflicts... If you build it, they will come.
