I've heard Beamdog are making changes to Baldur's Gate 2 now as well.

1. The Theives Guild will no longer accept you unless you prove you're not transphobic.
2. Jon Irenicus will now be triggered should you make a politically incorrect dialogue choice.
3. Imoen will comment on problematic things you say in dialogue.
4. Playing as a cis-gendered white Elf male, will initiate unique dialogue where NPCs demand you check your privilege.

I gather from it that BGEE1/2 ownership is about 800k, not bad at all tbh, and with some tweaks you could probably keep your small outfit alive for some time to come with other expansions, real follow ups or entirely new adventures in that engine/world.

It would be criminally stupid to fuck something like that up.

Of course on a small scale because unlike SJWs they (regular consumers) don't have the privilege of mainstream media and gaming journalism being on their side to spin the narrative.

Ideologues should learn to pick their battles (as much as it's hard for them to keep their self-indulging narcissism in check), you can't expect other SJWs to bail you out when the game is neither a pretentious 8-bit indie trash or dumb action game with high production values, treading carefully is especially required when you're riding on coattails of a beloved 90s classic with all the feelings of nostalgia involved. Either create your own IP or putt more effort into using the game as your soapbox, lazyness has consequences this time around.

Hell, I even think that, if it isn't that expensive, people would change their gender regularly. Why wouldn't they? It's not like it's not reversible and you get the best of both worlds. If taken to the extreme biological gender wouldn't matter at one point anymore, because it's incidental what you were born as, the lines would blur and the whole setting would have a very interesting, and different, perspective on gender.
