Dynaheir is consoling Viconia because she is a black elf (a Drow) and suppressed by white supremists.

Amber Scott fails to realize that this is because the Drow are an evil race (except for Drizzt of course, who is regarded as a hero despite being a 'nigger' elf). Even Viconia is evil FFS.

Anyway, her SJW bullshit is getting quite entertaining. I can almost hardly wait to find the next gem.

OK, this thread has grown significantly since I last read it, so I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask... aside all the SJW crap I keep seeing discussed here... is this worth buying? Is the plot interesting in any way? Does it fit BG1->BG2? Is combat interesting, engaging and makes sense? Is all dialog cringeworthy?

I'm planning to replay BG1+BG2 and I was thinking about:
a) BG1EE -> SoD -> BG2EE, like intended by Beamdog
b) The originals in the form of BGT -> SoD standalone
c) play BGT only and skip SoD entirely?

General consensus seems to be that it has some good combat encounters, but the story is bland and it's very linear. There is also a lot more cringe worthy dialogue if that's your primary fear.

Edit: Preference wise I'd play BGT.

lulz

Totally can see why they hired her as a writer.

Why did they change Viconia's portrait, btw?

What are those good combat encounters?

Someone who played further than me will have to answer that. I did have a pretty good encounter with a Lich in a side area near the start.

I refunded the game shortly after the first proper area.

Dynaheir = that conservative black mage lady from Dragon Age: Inquisition?
The woman atop the Gnoll fortress that Misnc wants to save & Edwin wants to kill in BG1, but nobody ever talks to because that way you can keep both Minsc and Edwin in the party.
Until Minsc gets pissed and leaves the party to save her by himself.

Other than the SJWing, cringeworthy writing (some of it is so awful it makes your eyes bleed) and bugs it is actually quite alright. Some of the writing is okay too.

The Codex would have probably liked it if Beamdog would have never let Amber Scott taint it with her political agenda and garbage writing.

Currently? No. There are still far too many bugs.

Is the plot interesting in any way?

Not really.

Does it fit BG1->BG2?

They glued it together in a very forced and artificial way.

Is combat interesting, engaging and makes sense?

Didn't play it on hard (encounters are supposed to change according to difficulty), but saw a couple of interesting encounters, that are probably even better on harder difficulties.

Is all dialog cringeworthy?

Not all, but definitely a sizable chunk of it.

To be honest, every single BG character was a stereotype. The big hearted but stupid warrior, the opportunist and smart wizard, the spiteful independent woman, the sultry seductress, the foxy yet innocent thief, the grumpy dwarf etc.

When looking at it from the side it's as if every single conversation in this entire debacle of an expansion is some kind of diversity ad or preachy diatribe.

I liked Keldorn. It's so unusual to get older characters in RPGs...

Of course, his character was literally the old cop ready to retire who just need to do one more job... but that's vidya geam writing for ya.

He was a walking cliche, including the warrior that spends his days away from home while being clueless he's a cuck.

Still, not a badly written character considering all the other npcs in the game.
