Hotfix #13 Now Live!
Version number: 4.1.1.1203230

b45c48e4b68616fcc0a41c6270694bbd2e7b0a78.jpg

Hey Everyone,

We’ve just rolled out a new hotfix for you!

This hotfix addresses the issue with NPC’s running away from you after using the Wild Shape ability, certain NPC’s will no longer rise from the dead after specific dialogs and your game will no longer crash simply because you committed too many crimes.

Thank you for your support tickets, Reddit, Steam, Forum, Discord and social posts about these issues! Your feedback and bug reports are incredibly helpful to us and we value the time you take to play the game and let us know your thoughts.

Thanks for your support!

Changelist:
  • Fixed a threading crash related to physics when loading a level.
  • Fixed a crash on loading a game where you've committed an egregious amount of crimes.
  • Fixed a crash related to textures when loading a level.
  • Fixed a crash when approaching the Owlbear Cave.
  • Fixed broken NPC behavior when saving while NPCs are reacting to your Wild Shape.
  • Fixed pickpocketing not showing the correct items available for "borrowing".
  • Fixed multiple clicks on the same target opening multiple pickpocket windows.
  • Fixed certain NPCs rising from the dead after specific dialogs.
  • Fixed fur on bear models.

First of all, no, you don't need to have the character sheets. You need players
True, I wouldn't even mind joining if I knew how we are gonna go about actually playing.
Go in blind and see where life takes you. It seems like you already don't trust him to dm either way so embrace it and see where it goes. At the least you get to understand him better and can get another DM horror story under your belt.

You're not really "trying" though bro. You posted a random message on a semi-relevant topic, with 0 information about how you plan to run it. Might have more success if you followed my advice and laid out a separate thread for it with the details.

Yep. But if I will DM, I need to known the character sheet. For example, if I get a highly charismatic bard, a magic user with only illusion/charming spells and a rogue, I know that I need to make NPC's and adventures focused in social aspects and stealth. If I get a half giant barbarian, a mage which only knows offensive spells and a war cleric, I know that I need to focus on hack & slash and focus more in making dungeons and monsters and less in NPC's. If I get a lawful good paladin which hates undead in his bakcground and a chaotic evil necromancer, I need to think in a way to make this two PCs work together. I need character sheets to prepare adventures.

DMing is not easy. When I had my 3rd edition group, nobody wanted to DM, so how we solved that problem? Each week one of our guys will DM. The adventure was very sandbox with little to no story overlap and was very chaotic as result. Was extremely fun and interesting.
Victor, I swear sometimes I think you're deliberately trying not to understand what is being said to you.

First of all, no, you don't need to have the character sheets. You need players. How do you get the players if you're willing to DM? Just like any of the other successful DMs here that gathered Codex groups to play, you post up a topic with your idea for the campaign, what ruleset, how it's gonna be played (discord voice + roll20, play-by-post, discord chat... whatever you prefer), what kind of campaign you're planning (oneshot of an existing adventure, sandbox campaign, ...), what times in which timezones are you available, ... all those things that help with:

1) potential players even knowing you're up to something
2) making a decision if they want to play the way you want to play

Then you all get together to do so. I joined in on the idea because I happened to be seeing that topic and I really want to see how you'd play / DM, so I even whipped out a quick charsheet because a) I enjoy thinking up new characters and b) I wanted to encourage you. So no, you haven't really tried anything, you just made a random blurb which if I hadn't followed up myself, wouldn't have gone anywhere because barely anybody even found out that you'd be willing to do it.

What I really want to see is a Lacrymas campaign.

If Larianshill wants to join us, we have a complete party. Atm, I only have a two-shot in my setting. We could play the first part and if the group is strong and all want us to continue, I could make a complete campaign out of it.

I know you are, I'm counting you towards the complete party. Atm, it's you, me, NJClaw, and Sinfully Yours. It's not like I couldn't force Ivaila (because she's the only one who hasn't played the one-shot) to play with us, but I want a Codex group so I can collect the most feedback and forum adoration/hate.

I'd be interested, depending on the timing and other logistical issues.

Any opinions on how background affects your experience?
It doesn't. It's just some inspiration points, and negligible amount of exp. It's nice, but nothing playthrough-defining. From the metagame perspective, the best background is Folk Hero if you're doing a normal, good-aligned playthrough, because all of Folk Hero's milestones are things you would end up doing anyway. Something like Guild Artisan, meanwhile, rewards things you might or might end up doing.
Far more important to the gameplay is the new food mechanic, and I'm not certain how game-changing is this one. I didn't get far - I've ragequit after I lost 20 minutes or progress once the game crashed, and I didn't play it since.

I'll post on the subject of Lacrymas' games tomorrow.

Yes, I'm down. I live in european timezone, and I have a flexible work schedule.

I'm not signaling agreement with the reddit post above but I will say -- and have said for years now -- that Larian is stupid fucking crazy over the barrels. DoS2 was a fucking barrel simulator. Enough with the motherfucking barrels you fucking idiot Belgian cheese-eaters. ENOUGH. Find another fucking mechanic for the love of god almighty. Jesus Mary and Joseph fucking stop it.

There are nearly no barrels in BG3. There are some on the nautiloid, and there's one room filled with barrels, but beyond that, it's pretty clean.

On release it was filled with retarded barrels that were placed all around the map. Are you saying that they removed them or are you just lariantard cultists ?

I mean I get it, it's a video game, but when walking around in ye olden times were there just fucking barrels everywhere, filled with flammable shit? Barrels were expensive and hard to make, that's why people made them for a living.

Having barrels everywhere is dumb. DUMB. Enough already. Environmental reactivity is nice but if you find yourself putting exploding barrels into every combat scenario, you probably need to skip the middle man and create some kind of ability that gives you explosion powers. Why fuck around?
