I'm not allowed to post there anymore, but even as a passive lurker I feel compelled to highlight the genius of the day:

A guy that ACTUALLY attempted to use an angle that is basically "Day/night cycle for the game would be bad because the Underdark at night would be too dark", with the bonus corollary "It would also be dark outside of it, when it's night", which is a very strong "NO SHIT" moment.

The engine has dark/light physics that can affect attack or spot rolls, and Solasta already showed this is intuitive and not hard to grasp for players.
Light spells, and torches, and minor actions, are already implemented to aid this. Would be a needed buff to stealth and invisibility approaches, since due to the way the party is supposed to stay together and the game goes from real time to turn based, the scouting ahead rogue is weaker than in tabletop.

Larian target audience is the funniest audience in any CRPG community... This and the BG1/2 reviews of Larian Cultists made me laugh so hard...

It's a shame they delete the pedophilic porn animations thread in their forum.

Choosing a race based solely on its advantages just isn’t everyone’s cup of tea

My most played race in kingmaker is Dhampir(races unleashed), that race comes with lots of drawbacks, including healing from negative energy only. Not even in mmos I min max with race, I'm playing EverQuest - p99 as an human necromancer which is probably the most sub-optimal race for necros.

To own lariats.

Larian cultists are the funniest RPG community.

I find it shocking how few games go deep into racial diversity, essentially changing the gameplay depending on what race you're playing. One would think that RPG is a genre that could benefit the most out of this kind of approach.

Yep. Races impacts a lot in EQ. Humans can't see at night without magical items/spells, Iksar are hated and Killed on Sight almost everywhere. And classes also impact a lot, if I as an necromancer tries to go into Barbarian main city, I would be KoS by guards too. To reach certain places of the map, I need to use invisibility(and it can break randomly) and there are some NPC's in friendly towns which attack me on sight too.

Meanwhile, in 5E, an Dwarf can become an magic user and multiclass into a cleric/paladin of an Draconborn deity and have the opposite alignment of his deity.

The few racial traits like drow sunlight sensitivity where took away for the sake of homogenization/balance cultism...

Too much work, that's why. Look at Age of Decadence. They worked their butts off just to go deep into stats, skills, and faction reputation affecting the narrative of the game. Same thing in Colony Ship except now they have to also do party in addition to the prior. Now imagine if on top of that Iron Tower had to focus on races too. Yeah. Not feasible; and Iron Tower Studios is one of the few studios out there who knows how to make compelling RPGs.
