BTW, this gay is so gay it even made Obama come out as gay. Facts.
I'm considering buying this game, but judging by this thread it seems only illiterate faggots and drag queens fully enjoy it. Does this game have any redeeming factor, besides good combat? Any trace of good writing or dialog? I read somewhere you confront gods, like Myrkul. How would you compare it to MotB, in terms of ontological deph? Or is it wrong game to look for any of it?

Honestly: Stay the fuck away from it.

Guys, just fucking quick save and reload. It's vydia who gives a fuck, save scum the shit out of all the checks and move on.

Ah the old "Savescum the shit out of it to get the best outcome" vs "It doesn't matter anyway what answer you choose and roll, the outcomes are all the same."

Which way western man?

If your game allows people to save and reload (which most games should) then it needs to be designed around that reality. But that doesn't mean you should just adjust the difficulty around the assumption people will save scum. What it means is that you should do stuff like thresholds for conversation skill checks rather than dice rolls.

It is often an issue when adapting a tabletop game to a computer game.

I might try this https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/661?tab=posts . I am hestiating because idk how stable that is but I did wipe the floor with every encounter in the Underdark so far, and it did somewhat lessen the impact of this otherwise good map. I've been trying to do as little murderhobo as I can, but I don't reload failed checks or wrong decisions so I sometimes end up screwing peaceful options and having to fight anyway.
Is there a difficulty spike at the start of acts 2,3 similar to DoS2 or is it just smooth sailing from there?

But they don't have to be the rules. You could have thresholds

You could. But there is another aspect to dice rolling that is not taken into account yet: Human monkey brain just likes to throw a dice and suceed with it. It's instant gratification, just that 2 seconds of not knowing the outcome of the roll, then the relief or the dissapointment. It's a tale as old as time that humans enjoy dice rolling. Even if it's faux the average player will feel more agency throwing that dice as to something passive like thresholds. So while I agree it marginalizes some of that roleplaying aspect, gaming wise it sure is more fun.

And yes, you might have a +2 in one of your chosen proficiencies. At level 1 that is. But these numbers and bonuses grow with leveled up attributes as your character "grows in expertise" (aka leveling up).
So you are not an expert in reading ancient scriptures at level 1. It means you might once read a book about ancient scripture and there is a slightly better chance you can read those Gith glyphs.

You guys trouble yourselves so much for so little.
Western Civilisation (tm) is at stake, and you call that "so little"!
Nigga, you and Grauken start 10 pages long screeching campaigns whenever someone says anything negative about even the most minor part of the game, like dice system not being perfect for dialogue checks, or tactician being badly balanced.
You are right. Ok, I promise I won't react to even the most inane "Western Civilization is in danger", "our children will become trannies" however suceptible it is to being made fun of.

For the record - I think only poseurs say "Western Civilization", Civilization is only one.

You mean you miss the "gems" like this, showing how much those hacks care about the original? What a tragedy.

I bought myself a sculpture of the most beautiful bard. Me.
It was placed next to Karlach's tent. Maybe it will cheer her up. And help her deal with the fact that I dumped her for Shadowcooch.

The books are the worse in terms of writing.

Dialogs are fairly decent and mostly standard for a game of this type but the books just reek of reddit. It's also obvious they had different writers becuse some are written better than others and the quality is all over the place.

If you think that a level 1 wizard should have a 10% increase in chance to read arcane runes over a level 1 barbarian

Correct me If I'm wrong, but wouldn't that at least require a high INT barbarian? Arcane checks are based on attribute-modificators.
And while you CAN build a high INT barbarian that would boost your Arcane checks, it would be counterproductive to the other tooks at hand that the barbarian class grants the player (Smashing and crashing stuff).

Oh sorry, I misunderstood your point. Nevermind.

BG3 - Have a dialogue option saying that because of your half-elf heritage, you are a bit of a curiosity and people sometimes stare at you.
Also BG3 - A decetive in Baldur's Gate is a small flying elephant-fairy thing. With a pipe and a monocle. I can't ask him what the fuck is he. I guess this is totally normal.

Ah, the classic Larian worldbuilding.

Just wait until you find the FR's equivalent to the Marxist manifesto in the Underdark. :smug:

Assuming i make it that far. For every reddit moment, my enthuasiasm with the game deflates, and i quit better games than this (like Kingdom Come).

There's a ring on a strange ox in the druid grove which gives you +1d4 on all checks while shapeshifted, it works with the Mask of the Shapeshifter, so unconditionally all the time. Not bad.

Lyric Suite Since you still stumble around the Grove, you want might check that out now.

Since i cannot think of anything else to do besides talking to the ox, which i did, i allowed myself to google it, and, i'm a pally, not gonna happen.

Glad to hear this game has some empowering codex representation.
