It's an American fantasy world, owned by an American company, and the game itself only got made due to the purchasing power of American fans. Whether you like it or not, Faerun having the demographics of the modern United States of America simply makes sense.

I find it weird to care about racial demographics in a setting like The Forgotten Realms. This isn't middle-earth where a world leading philologist is carefully tracking genealogies and cultural and linguistic development. It's a setting full of random tropes vomited everywhere so that you can feasibly create any kind of fantasy campaign you want with no restrictions.
D&D and BG3 have a class called Monk, which is literally an east asian kung fu guy. The settings has always had sabers and katanas and other asian shit. Throwing stars even.
You either are unfamiliar with the source material, or are selectively remembering it to defend yourself from the ego death of resolving cognitive dissonance.
