"Hi, I'm Ken Levine, and it took us nearly 6 years to make this popamole shooter. But that's okay, because I'm a game design legend. I can take as much my time as I need to."

Meanwhile, Obsidian's next undisclosed game's release date has been pushed forward 6 months to meet some stupid Holiday deadline, giving the company still an enormous 8 months of overall development time left.

My guess is that they're adding multiplayer, or multiple endings with moral choice crap, or some other useless shit that the publisher wants to be in the game in order to look competitive with other titles. That, or they don't want to compete with a particular game coming out during their original release window (GTA V, Blops 2, etc.)... or it's just PR-speak for "we would have had to cut a ton of content to hit our release date, but our publisher relented and let us have more time." All of them are equally plausible come to think of it.

I hear the multiplayer worked out so well in Bioshock 2. :smug: As to why, I think you're close to the mark but I suspect it's to create more Day 0 DLC they will cut out of the game and price at $30ish extra a few months later.

Project: Eternity Torment: Tides of Numenera Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
I hope that this time, guns will feel like something else than friggin' airsoft/nerfs.
The first two could have been an (somewhat) enjoyable experience if not for that darn feeling.

For now back to Arma II it is.

I was just hypothetically speaking. But you know it could be true.

Probably replacing Big Tits Disney Princess with Felicia Day or Jessica Chodebot in game and need the time to redo the voice acting and add in some sex scenes.

The game is just too ambitious for 512MB RAM.

Yep, Bioshock Infinite sure is revolutionary and ambitious, what with its linear levels, scripted sequences every 10 seconds and AI that majestically runs at you. THE WORLD ISN'T READY FOR IT

Is it wrong to want to see this crash and burn, especially since it's coming from a developer that was once so great?

Multiplayer cut from Bioshock Infinite? I'm not worried, I'm glad. Fucking Kotaku.

That's not the point. It's a symptom of troubles in the project.
And they're sacrificing multiplayer to get the singleplayer out in a timely manner. Since the singleplayer was the only part I was interested in I'm glad they're devoting their efforts toward that, troubles or no.

Another dumb, linear, "cinematic" shooter where some NPC harasses you every 30 seconds, where you can't die, can't lose progress, are told what to do and where to go via intercom and an automap just in case you have been brain damaged, and don't ever have to use your brain. No thanks.

If this is what modern gaming is, I spit on it.

The System Shock games ran on shittier hardware and were superior in every way.
