It's hard if you are a 2011 newfag.

ZOMG I can die in a game. HARDCORE.

Newsflash dear 2011 morons. It's complicated games with complex gameplay that are missing, not dying-every-5-secs shit. You can die in CoD too all the time. It makes it totally oldschool and hard.

I'm an old-school gamer so I'll go play a game like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and that really drives me, the "scraping by" feeling.

An easy 2007 game is oldschool and hardcore now.

I have to say that Ken Levine in one aspect is heads and shoulders above the likes of Bioware:

That’s been a really interesting design challenge, because it eluded me for a long time – and again I guarantee there’ll be someone in the comments section saying “Levine it’s still eluding you, trust me, you’re an idiot.” And that may very well be true, but for me as a gamer this is the piece that was missing. I’m never going to chase [i.e. design the game towards] some gamer who’s unhappy with our game, because the only gamer I can chase who’s not happy with our game is myself.
People on the team, the only people they can chase is themselves. If I start reading comments section and then start chasing every single person there and it’s an opinion that I don’t share… maybe it’ll be the right thing to do in a business sense, but I won’t be able to make that game, the team won’t be able to make that game, because it’s not in our DNA.

The following is true, but not for RPS :smug:

Ken Levine: [chuckles] It’s true though, your audience is very capable of following their truth about the game. They don’t need me for that. I think, I hope the preview process is going to be very entertaining for them, but if they’re making careful purchasing decisions, never rely on a preview process for that, because they don’t need to. I’m 45, I’ve come to a point in my life where I can afford to buy almost any game I want, so I don’t need to dig that deep into reviews – time is more of an issue for me – so I can really just try things, and if I don’t like them I can just say ‘I’m not going to play that any more’, and I’m very, very fortunate to be able to do that. But not everybody’s in that situation, either financially or time-wise, so they should not rely on any preview process. Ever. Not because it’s dishonest, but because they don’t need to: they can go to a much deeper source.

You gotta love that they put a light source on her boobs.
Pfffft.... pervert... you're not concentrating on what she's GOING THROUGH as a CHARACTER.

Levine's Gonna Levine

The corset symbolizes the suffocating power of imperialism, while the cleavage shows the beauty and artistry that can appear opposing repression and pain. (like Guernica, but you can masturbate to it while not feeling guilty).

Levine said:
If you’re a reader on Rock, Paper, Shotgun, you are sophisticated enough to not listen to what Ken Levine says, or not listen to what any [developer] says about any game.

RPS readership is surely the most prestigious and sophisticated PC gamer elite of all. Far above accepting hype.

Whatever I have seen of the gameplay videos, I imagine that utopians here are trying to resurrect some Golden Age of America from back in the days of John C. Calhoun or Van Buren. Basically, the pre-Appomattox US that neo-Confederates idealize as times when "honour rather than money" were pursuits of Americans.

Of course, I might be completely wrong, but this could easily be the plot: Southern partisans and Northern agrarians flee to the skies, cursing Lincoln for turning their government into a broker for corporate lobbyism, so that they can revive a frontier culture, heroics, and honour elsewhere.

More of the same = yawn. Plus, while i think Levin is a decent writer as far as gaming standards go, the Jew is just too strong on this one. Lol the history of Amerikwa is evil 'n shit, no way he's projecting his own racial prejudice here at all, no sir.

Also, bloom. Mother of god, the motherfucking bloom. This is going to be nothing more then Bioshock on clouds.

Going to guess six to seven hours of repetitive console shooter game play and half of that will be cutscenes.

Well, now that Ken Levine isn't merely copying SS2, we'll see if he can into gameplay mechanics on his own.

I want to believe™. It will again probably be a mediocre shooter (now with Skyway 1999 shooter option) with an interesting story, which is fine I guess.
