How the fuck did he put so much money into it (enough to get the t-shirt) when his first adventure game was Machinarium?

Also, I can recommend watching the Frog Fractions, Space Quest and Don't Shit Your Pants LPs on their channel, pretty fun. edit: also, the QWOP LP!

Yeah, that was weird.:D I know I can't come up with a sensible explanation, it just boggles the mind.:S At least he surprised me by not loving this POS game.

When they said 'caught up in the hype', he pointed at himself. The hype for the BA Kickstarter was like a feeding frenzy.

The hype was pretty major - and not just from the point of view of a DF game, or an adventure game, but as a "Hey, we can fund a game we want!" angle. That's a very major component of DF's initial success. Perhaps they have somehow thought it was all due to DF being DF, so anything goes, except it wasn't really that. Just the excitement to be able to fund a game that the gamers would supposedly want.

To wit, to this day, no Kickstarter game has gotten more backers than Broken Age did, I believe. More money yes, but not more people.

Yeah. I just wonder if this very thing was a major cause for DF's eventual "downfall" - mis-attributing the attention and the favour with their KS to being caused purely by DF's merits.

So, it's a 128 pages thread, and I don't trust any non-Codex source. Can someone give me the tl;dr version of if and how and why this game is, or isn't, shit?

It's a heavily over-produced game, with more polish than content.
Part 1 is basically garbage from an adventure game perspective; part 2's puzzles are much better, but the overall narrative is pretty poor, which is too bad because it was the only somewhat interesting thing from part 1.
I can't really recommend it, unless you're playing it with a 3-5 year old kid. It's probably right up their alley (I'm being serious).

The short version: It is an adventure which has a well done story and unique look. Act 1 puzzles are too easy, but Act 2 has very nice puzzles which have just the right difficulty.

Also, the last documentary is up.

It was a hard, but fun ride, it is good to see they wrap up the game and tell us their thoughts about it.

Oh, FFS... Broken Age costed 10M to make?

:retarded:
If I understood correctly from the documentary, he says that they made the game from twice as much as the kickstarter money. So it is 6-7 million, but we knew that already.
