I think KotOR 2 did a good job informing the player of the game world without resorting to amnesia, by having a multitude of descriptive dialogue choices. Even if the player doesn't pick the line that says "Atris you fucking bitch, your gloating tone reminds me of the day you exiled me from the Jedi Order", they still learn something about the world by just reading it.
True.

BTW, are amnesiac protagonists even a thing these days? Feels like it was common enough in the 90s-00s that it became a clichè and is thus avoided today.
The Witcher went with that, if I recall correctly. And Disco Elysium.

His idea for a new game based on that Sci fi book he was talking about seems actually legit good idea. I think Tim still has good ideas he just doesn't quite have the fight in him to stand up for those ideas anymore against retards.

KotOR 2 is the avatar of how not to do dialogue. Repeatedly it gives you choices that you're not informed enough to make, because your character knows a bunch of shit that you the player don't.

Grab the Codex by the pussy Strap Yourselves In Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
I fucking love how KotOR 2 uses dialogue options as exposition. So much more natural than hearing other characters droning on and on about it and you can avoid having it be a part of the conversation entirely.

Do we know anything about Troika's cancelled post-apocalyptic project beyond the tech demo video of the engine? I wanna ask him, but I wanna make sure we know nothing.

Someone has already asked him that and he said he will add it to the list.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
In no part was I referring to external injection of testo, which you somehow inferred from what was said.
Its the only way to maintain high testosterone as you age, and it will continue to get normalized as more and more insecure men blame all their personal failures on low test brah and refuse to age gracefully into being wizened elders.

They did studies that showed men born in the early 1900s had more testosterone in their 70s than 20 year old millenials at the time. So Tim Cain in his 50s or so, whittling x2 big pencils at a time, and pulling the rubber eraser of a third is probably more t'd up than your average GenZ / millenial.

I'm 99% certain you misread something, or believed a lie. I suspect the study said men who are in their 70s, had higher testosterone than men in their 20s, back when they themselves were in their 20s. And who was getting tested for testosterone back then? Athletes, soldiers, sailors. Not "the average guy".
Mind posting proofs?

Oh, that was me. Youtube alerts me when Tim's videos come out, but not when he responds to me personally? Shit platform.

Do you need a scientific paper to see what is readily observable? Do you think the 1940s had anything like this?

Obviously this faggot is an outlier, but he's not alone and people like this skew the average.

Amnesia is the easiest and laziest tool to make a new character in the RPG. KOTOR which has a great twist and Witcher are some examples.

It was tested when they were in their 70s. And no, I don't feel like finding something that I read about 5 years ago. But you should have met my grandfathers. Personally, I think this thread should be dedicated to Tim Cain's big pencil. He should have his own genre/subsection on the hentai porn sites by now.

Why when your talking about lifting, it’s always some fukken pencil neck who starts wanting proofs?

The proof’s in the barbell that explodes skywards from your chest, fukken innit.

I'm asking for proof that the average 70 year old has more testosterone than the average 20 year old, because maaaaaaaaaaaan they used to be so tough back then maaaaaaaaaaaaan

All that drama, and then it turned out that geometric shapes in TOW character creator were basically just arrows pointing up or down.

Nah, they weren't the arrows. He gave up on the geometric shapes concept at some point. It might be nice to think that was due to the Codex's reaction, but more likely it was too weird for normies as well.

The reality is that numeric stats are intuitive not only for nerds, but also for normies. I am sure some gaming magazines tried to get rid of numeric ratings, but most people disliked it.

Another proof that Beamdog is the shittiest company there is and that it's a parasite:

Tim Cain said:
I was approached by Beamdog to make an enhanced edition of Temple. I made an offer that they refused. They made no counter offer. I made a new offer that they refused. Again, no counter offer. I made a final offer that they refused. I demanded a counter offer. They declined. I won’t continue this lopsided negotiation.
(...)
TOEE sits on top of an OS abstraction library called TIG, which should make it easy to port. I’m open to the idea, but at some point, I won’t negotiate when nothing is offered in return.
tl;dr
They wanted to make money off Tim Cain's work, slap their logo everywhere and delete the old version only for a mod that probably already exist and that which they would use.

On a different note:
kanrakucheese
Is it true that you still have the source code to Arcanum/ToEE but can't release it due to some contract nonsense related to the DRM? If true, who do we need to campaign on social media for a chance to get it released?

Timothy Cain
Yes, I have source code for Arcanum and Temple because Troika legally owned that code, so it became mine (and Leon's and Jason's) when we closed. But I contractually cannot release it, and while the contract doesn't give reasons (it simply forbids it), I am sure the use of source code to remove DRM was a contributing factor for the inclusion of that clause.

Recently I recompiled Arcanum on the latest version of Visual Studio, just to see if I could. There were some warnings thrown, but it compiled and ran!

kanrakucheese
Was the contract in question one with Sierra, Atari and/or someone else? People got 3D Movie Maker's source by asking nicely on social media, and I doubt that was as "on hand" as what you have.

Timothy Cain
I am referring to the contract with Sierra. Activision now owns those rights.

and Tim has told about plans for Bloodlines sequel:

Tim Cain said:
Yes, we did. We had two, in fact. One was called Exodus, and the other was called Blood Hunt.

I think if there's a will, there's a way.
So he can't release the sources. But he can contractually hire (for $1) some willing modder to port the game code from c++ to c# for instance.

In which case both outcomes are legal from Tim's perspective:
- if the modder leaks the sources, it's not Tim who did it, and Activision can only come after the modder
- if the modder doesn't leak, but performs his job, the C# version is a reimplementation and can be freely distributed

It's a matter of desire. If he wanted it, it could be done. All he has to do is get some guys from C8 or some other party to sign a contract.

Passive aggressive Canadians. Bioware was similar with employee reviews. When they wanted someone gone, they'd guilt trip them into quitting with negative performance reviews.

It's a real shame he can't release that Arcanum source code. A lot could be done with that.

Maybe it'll get "leaked" like the dark engine source code.

Glad that's he's making those new videos, I'm not sure how much of the information is new but it's good to have them in one place. Noticed he's been somewhat active on reddit for the past year, he's probably bored.

If Zoomers can larp becoming women.
Then Boommers can larp remaining chads.
