I am pretty sure they are going to cancel the multiplayer to work on Witcher 4.

They've put a lot of money into Cyberpunk brand recongnition. Can't imagine them not cashing on it at least with a DLC or two

I see them doing single player DLCs, extended editions and possibly a sequel, but an ambitious multiplayer seems like asking for trouble.

Maybe they will do a few arenas with death match but I don't see them doing more.

From what I've read in the dim mists of the past (so I could be wrong) they had an earlier try at the game (when that really cool CGI teaser with the mantis claw girl came out) but scrapped it, so what we have now may not have been in 8 years of development. More like 3 or 4 probably.

Again, this is one of the complaints about CDPR's working practices - that they bin huge amounts of stuff and start over again quite often. I recall reading that the boss guy claimed it as a virtue, but to me it seems like bad management.
CD Projekt Black was working on the game since 2012 up until 2016 before Red released Blood & Wine. It was mostly pre-production (art and writing). I think it was scrapped (along with everything you saw in the CGI trailer) and the team was abolished.

Then something happened in 2017. Some developers left and started shitting on the studio, blaming Adam Badowski in particular.

I believe this was another reboot, but reboot itself wasn't a problem, but the fact that they were constantly losing people duo to crunches and bad management.

They also said several other things, such as:

instead of promised classes the game will feature only one character;
the engine needs to be reworked to work properly with car and shooting mechanics;
most importantly the game may not be ready to be released even in 2020;

So the current iteration was about 3 years in development (not counting stuff left from previous work) and it really shows.

Despite that CDP wanted to compare themselves to Rockstar, their management is from 90s from Eastern Europe.

This game should be called KiddyPunk 2077 or smth like that. All of the gigs(so far) consist of you helping good guys and punishing evil guys. It feels very naive and patronising like some kind of a lesson in kindergarden

You can't work for a mobster, you can't rob stores and parlours, you can't extort money etc.

Wth?

After dealing with the entirety of crime in Night City by myself I feel like I should be made chief of police tbh.

Also factions, factions are always terrible but some people seem to love them and many developers seem to feel obliged to stick them in their games.

Brofisted your post, but take issue with this. Factions don't make an RPG, but if done well, they can certainly enhance the experience greatly. See Gothic, Gothic 2, Risen, ELEX, VtMB. Cyberpunk could have benefitted greatly from faction play, but never really expected it it considering what I saw in Witcher 3.

It s a great game if you don't overanalyze things

:)

like most AAA.

It's not hard to add a faction's friendship bar that triggers events when filled, it adds tremendous roleplay value. Would take less resources than implementing those useless romance systems, that is for sure.

Started a male Nomad - man, the male voice acting for V is so much better than the female. I feel sorry for the female actress because it feels more like bad direction - she's trying to pump too much emotion into the lines too often, when really VO in games should, I think, be quite neutral in tone, because players' heads are going to read their own emotional tone into the voice acting. The director should have caught that, because she's obviously capable of delivering good lines in places.

Male V voice acting is really cringeworth sometimes. Especially when he tries to sound sad.

Apparently the perk that auto-salvages junk also auto salvages expensive jewellery. Choice and consequence, biyatch.

Although they never let me get ze silly selfie with T-pose man, the dickheads.

that mission was so lame. if they really wanted to be edgy they should have given us a choice to stone a woman for breaking islamic law. sort of like a sharia judge dredd.

I was so angry with the lead up to that mission (the "help the guy assassinate x") that
I took the payoff from the BD producer bitch early on.
I was still fuming from
the SUV in the mission before being such a wallowing piece of shit,
and the devs putting annoying driving obstacle tricks in the way :) The driving is so hit or miss - some vehicles are fine, others are just horrible to drive. I actually prefer the motorbikes.

I did like that I'd heard about the impending event in passing on the radio shortly before though - nice touch. It happens a few times, that you hear about things on the news that happen in-game (another example is the blimp parade being talked about before it happens).

Yeah can we talk about how much better the motorbikes are than anything else? The best bike in the game is cheap as shit (22k) looks awesome and is faster than anything else, as well as being more practical for parking up etc for missions and getting through traffic. There is really no reason to bother with cars in this game.

Oh and also they can be driven easily in 1st person view unlike cars

Also also you get the second best bike in the game for free very early on via a quest so there's that too

Honestly at this point, I would be glad with AI fixes, to police, wanted system implementation and just general NPC and traffic AI working, that would do alot for the game.

That and overall fixes and bughunting and some balance to loot and combat

Other than that, wishful thinking for implementation of more C&C and "RPG"-ish quests, and other shit.

The core main story and side missions already does enough for me to enjoy the game alot. along with the visuals of course.

Yeah the game makes it pretty clear that most of the criminal types the player associates with only do anti-corporate violence, and they hate scavs, raytheons (or whatever the Nomad rejects are called), etc. - generally, those who does violence to ordinary folks. It's very Robin Hood in that respect. I think if the game was full-on RP, you'd be rejected by your friends in the game (but what am I saying? - that would be a rep system! :) )

Still, I suppose it would have been nice to have the option, for those that like that sort of thing. I'm so emotionally stunted that I find myself unable to play bad or evil types in games.

You can access your stash via car boots, so there's that. It's nice to have access to your stash when you find something cool but you can't use it now but you can't keep it in your inventory either because the UI is so godawful you can't tell what's what and there's no way of marking things.

But yeah, love the bikes, top notch immersion driving through the city on them.

Aha but iirc you can also access stash via your bike too, I could be wrong but I think you can

Just started using the radio more. It's interesting how much of it is knock-offs of well-known choons. Particularly the jazz channel - it has (actually quite well-done) knock-offs of some really classic jazz tracks from the likes of Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Chet Baker, etc. Loves me that jazz radio while cruising through Nite City.

I am pretty sure they are going to cancel the multiplayer to work on Witcher 4.

Spent three more hours on it last night and I still had a fantastic time. It s a great game if you don't overanalyze things, like most AAA.

If I were them I'd pour all resources into fixing as much of the game as possible until the first DLC. If that is received well and the game's name gets rehabilitated then you continue with the multiplayer, otherwise you switch to Witcher 4.

It's too early to throw in the towel just yet imo.

Yep, multiplayer would be a waste of time and would piss off a lot of people at this point. I've given the game an objective 6-6.5/10 out of the box but there's definitely an 8/10 here if they sort it out, and they'd claw back some good will if they did that.
