They probably should just scrap the old console version of the games, apparently it looked and played like shit and I think they said they can't make it look better so just scrap it since you refunded everyone and already pissed off everyone else. might as well just concentrate on PC and new consoles or something.

Good example is Planescape Torments Marketing vs the Marketing for such a game now.

I contacted the Music department for Cyberpunk 2077 telling them how they can fix their mess.

back to me in Jan. Composers already working on new projects.

I agree, but I'm pretty sure they can't because of publishing deals already made.

That's why this "assumed" sounds so fishy.
From what I gather both Sony and MS were being their usual greedy selves and decided gambling that 2077 was going to launch in a playable state was worth the risk, and CDPR certainly made no move to dissuade them of this assumption and even promised the game was going to receive a Day 1 patch that would fix the most glaring issues and improve performance significantly.

I assume they knew the game was going to be buggy and not what people were expecting, and that there was going to be complaining, but they thought it was going to end up in a Fallout 76 scenario - lots of refunds but a significant enough retention of playerbase. They likely didn't think CDPR was going to fuck things up this badly, and then mismanage the post-launch PR to this degree, and then attempt to stab them in the back to boot.

Sony giving them the middle finger has less to do with the state of the game itself, and more with CDPR biting the hand that feeds. MS is just following along so they too can pretend to be on the "pro-consumer" side and make CDPR eat a lot of humble pie.

I also think that Sony's certification team knowingly participated in releasing the game in an unplayable state. Whether under pressure from higher up within Sony or not, we'll probably never know. I imagine Sony may even make a show of "investigating internally" why the game was certified and punishing some scapegoat.

The greatest irony is that if the game had been postponed by another 6 months, the blowback would have been much smaller because many PS4s would have been upgraded to PS5s by their owners, and the game itself would have been behaving better on all platforms.

But if that had happened CP77 wouldn't have been released within the financial 2020, a bunch of people wouldn't have gotten their bonuses in the same amounts, and the investors would have been miffed.

After 20h I can say that the game's best feature is the incredible amount of clothing, Cyberpunk 2077 is a better dress-up game than the Sims 4 :positive:
I sometimes look at witcher 3 armorers and think what it would have been if these armors' stats meant something. Imagine how many pieces have never been equipped.

We all know what happened here. The analysts believed that 8 million preorders + launch day sales were worth more than enough to trash your company's reputation.

Because reputation doesn't matter, and the fucking plebs will buy whatever marketing tells them anyways.

I'm not even sure armor does anything in cyberpoonk, at least not on hard. I've boosted up over 300 armor in one shot via upgrades and mods but the same enemies still kill me in 2-4 hits.

It's yo boy Jason Schreier back at again. With another drop of hot news.

OMFG...what a complete asshole. Comparing working an extra 8 hours and getting 150% pay (along with the fact these are already well paid people) with the dystopic theme of the game is complete assholery.

Everyone wanted a slice of that hype pie. The whole "they thought we're going to fix it" line is just CDP staying in Sony/MS good graces. They're already taking flak for last gen releases being what they are, it doesn't cost them anything to take all the flak in exchange for some brownie points.

Actually, I don't even know what the problems with the last gen version are. FPS drops? Crashes? What got all them knickers in a bunch?

That's a misunderstanding of the certification process though, it's on CDPR to delay release if the game is certified by MS and/or Sony but is a bugridden mess. Certification doesn't touch ingame bugs unless they cause issues outside the game itself. If CDPR had got permission to release on the assumption that something 'wrong' would be then fixed that won't be the general state of the game but something very specific which has been flagged up in the certification process (eg the strobing lights issue?).

So the game is poorly optimized, enemies are stupid bullet sponges, stealth is semi unplayable due to bugs, main character talks like it is written by an edgy teenager, open world tech is at least 10 years behind other open world games, driving feels like a bad 2004 racing game.

What exactly are people liking in this game? Even without hype I would have disliked it. Or are people in this thread gobbling CDPR's cock because they are eastern European? Or does the game get drastically better later on?

Some investors might be seeking their pound of flesh, either that or it's an elaborate phishing scam:

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

My name is Mikołaj Orzechowski, I am a Warsaw attorney at law and a CDPR investor. In connection with recent events - and in particular the suspension of the sale of the product CYBERPUNK 2077, we are currently analyzing, together with the law firm's team, the grounds for filing a class action together with filing a notification of the possibility of committing a crime under article 286 of the Civil Code. - misleading in order to obtain a financial benefit. If you are interested in participating in the above, please contact us at mikolaj.orzechowski@4bizzz.com. The contact is absolutely free of charge, my entry is to verify whether to undertake the above activities by yourself or whether there are more people in a situation similar to mine. We are also preparing material, together with one of the Internet portals, about the rights of investors, in case of such a bright, inconsistent with the facts, the attitude of the board - see information about the fact that the game is ready, taking into account several delays in the release, as well as statements in which the said board admits that it did not exercise due diligence in developing the game for the PS4 platform.

I kindly inform you that I will not provide any comments in this thread. Any entries will remain unanswered.

Thank you very much,

with respect,

attorney Mikołaj Orzechowski

Remember when CDPR used to make their games on PC first, then port to consoles later. Remember how that resulted in a good game which then translated to sales. Simultaneous multiplatform development and releases result in nothing but a clusterfuck.

The Witcher 3 armors look like shit, except from the craftable ones

Actually, wasn't Jason that compared, was a Cyberpunk 2077 dev.

I've gotten much further into the game, though, and have been completely overwhelmed by sidequests. There really is quite a bit to do in the open world, even if it most of it comes from sidequests, rather than player interaction with things. Honestly, if CDPR would just fix the idiotic AI of NPCs and Cars, and implement some sort of warrant system where police actually chase you in cars, I think the open world would be fine. Anything they add beyond that would just be bonus.
Man, not being able to get side quests by interacting with NPCs really sucks.
This is literally a "checklist"
At this point, what is the use of an open world?

You have to be in various places in the open world for people to call you and offer you quests, though. Which is kind of dumb, on its own, but probably makes about as much sense as random people in the world just offering you quests.

Side-quests in the open world have always been kind of dumb to begin with. Honestly, I kind of just prefer Cyberpunk's method where people who offer you quests are either police sergeants or gang leaders, and they basically just straight up call you and offer them once you reach a certain level of notoriety.

Probably a pink hair that barely does anything at the studio and is there to push social justice. I work at a large company and we got our share of those...nobody knows what they actually do but they come out during meetings to tell us to support BLM and other pointless shit. And regardless of anything, they still were making good money for the extra effort. Yeah...that's super dystopian.

And Jason is certainly trying to sensationalize the whole thing, so he's still a flaming asshole.

At best, it's some Sunday investor that got a harsh lesson on how value bloat works. At worst, it's a scam targeting Sunday investors.

Either way, nothing will come of it.

Kek. The management cannot even manage the general direction of the game - on rails shooter or immersive sim and team 1 doesn't know what team A does. Peak incompetence. Glassdoor reviews were up to something, who knew.
