I can't confirm it personally but i watched video of a guy that was testing guns with various levels above his level and he could definitely use them. It is apparently 1.5 patch change. Vanilla game definitely had hard req.
You sure that's not a bug in the latest hotfix? I've got the prior 1.5H1 version installed and I get "Action Blocked" if I try to equip items over my level. Could also be a mod, I guess.

P.S. From the original 1.5 patch notes:

The level requirement of melee weapons will now increase with each upgrade. Note: the level of upgraded melee weapons will be adjusted as a result of this change. The equipped items which exceed the level requirement can continue being used but, if unequipped, will have to wait until the required level is reached to be used again.

So yeah, it doesn't sound like removing hard level requirements for weapons was an intended change in 1.5.

Yeah, as others said already, when I tested 1.5 I got a "requirements not met" when trying to use weapons of higher level.
But it is Cyberbug77 we are talking about, so I don't doubt someone was able to use them anyway. :hahano:

Even after more than a year of "fixing" things, the game is still so full of old (and new) bugs that will never get fixed.
The game is still a prime example that having far too many people working on the same things will be contraproductive if your team leads suck at communication/coordination. The game mechanics follow no clear line, at times it feels as if there were competing developers trying to push their vision over someone else's. Especially when they pull some hamfisted "rebalancing" in the patches, as they did e.g. for boxing.
The first opponent (the twins) get literally knocked out in one hit, despite them being much higher level as V. If you hit them while they are idle that is, because at the same time enemies now block 99% of your counter attacks, the only way you were able to beat them before.
Loaded an old save were V was lvl40 with monkey paws and tried the animals chick. Had to replay it 3 times, because she has her guard up all time AND blocks most if the counter attacks now, while killing you in 2 hits. Had to repeatedly strong attack her guard like an idiot until I knocked her over with a crit. Awsome rebalancing there CDPR...
Apparently one dev just lowered early opponent's hp, while the boxing dev was pissed people were only using counter attacks and not playing the way he wanted, so he "fixed" that.
Same way they "rebalanced" car prices, so players would use other cars then before. Except most of them are undriveable because the car dev had an unchecked hardcore simulation fetish.
The Toyota Corolla Mitsu Shion apparently has rear wheels made of ice covered in oil. Even the slightest movement at low speeds makes your rear go off into the scenery. And the V Quadra still has no grip with his 50 cm wide tires and a constant scream of the rev limiter. Who aside from that dev likes that?

Seriously, before CDPR does anything new, they need stronk leaders who slap the pipedreams out of those devs and bring them back in line.
When you allow them to pursue a "clutch simulation" for cars (as stated in the patch notes), I am not surprised this game became such a clusterfuck. :hahano:
Very sad.

Also, I don't know if it was mentioned here before, but there is also an NPC called "Songbird" in the base game files.
She has 3 unique casual outfits, a netrunner outfit, a party dress, a "date outfit" and a halloween costume. But is not used anywhere.
Unless she is meant for an upcoming DLC, maybe a heist in that unifished casino location, the amount of manhours wasted on her is amazing.

So CDP has resources to create unused models, but they do not have resources to fix glaring defects.

Let's not forget they went to the trouble of voice-acting the entire Judy romance correctly and then decided not to bother creating any male-specific animations for it. Literally all they had to do to enable an entirely new romance for male V's with the hottest character in the game was animate a few intimate scenes. Nah, couldn't be bothered to do that.

And players end up downloading gigabytes of useless data. If CDP cannot even automate the process of only bundling used data with the game, how can they hope to deliver a breakthrough title?

Name someone hotter? I get it if you dislike tats or whatever, or if her asymmetric hairstyle gives you PTSD, but she is objectively quite pretty
She's fine, a nice girl you could meet in any mundane supermarket... or rather would be, if not for her awful tattoos and ghastly sense of fashion, yes. Not that Panam's wrench-jockey style's any better. Hell, your "clean cut" option is Meredith fucking Stout of all people. As for hotter? Evelyn's got the femme fatale thing down and Misty was a sweetheart, half expected the game to pull a Jaheira, and then there's that fancy joytoy you unlock in Kerry's questline.

But this is sad, we're plumbing new depths with this discussion... Cyberpunk 2077 really is the Johnny Silverhand game - he's got bombshell Alt, and V's gotta pick between a junk scavenger and a literal basement dweller.

Interesting, I think Alt has this 'porn star that's hit the wall' look to her that's really unattractive. I think Judy looks very nice but I guess some people dislike her look. Panam is honestly rather unattractive to me. Though she has a nice ass obviously.

Cheri Nowlin, the receptionist from Clouds, is IMHO the best looking female NPC in the game. Liz Peralez gets 2nd place from me, especially when I still had to play on "low" settings and she looked at least 10 years younger. :hahano:

I agree Evelyn's first appearance and the whole femme fatale was sooo well done, it gave me high hopes for the game. But we all know how it turned out.

Judy is kinda sorta cute, but she turned out to be a crazy stalker psycho, who will ditch you the moment you don't run away with her to fabulously {{{safe spez}}} Oregon. What pissed me off about her tats howeever is: CDPR couldn't be arsed to make proper art for her, a main character, instead they just stamped the same fucking rose at least 5 times on her to fill her up. I already noticed that during trailers and thought it was temp thing, but no, that was final. How lazy as an artist can you be?:argh:

Panam is... well, she has a nice backside. Aside from that, a dev modeling her after that chick from McGuyver he has the hots for is beyond creepy. Seriously. That's a new level of stalking.

River is simply the worst written character I have seen for a long time. CDPR does apparently not know the difference between "idealistic" and "lawful stupid". He behaves like an entitled little 14 yo kid. When his partner moved the mayor's corpse into his home, because having a heart attack in a cat house is not what he deserved to be remembered by, River's first thought is to rat him out to internal affairs. No wonder he has no friends, he would probably make sure his collegues pay every speed ticket they get. And his romance made me blow the virtual rape whistle.

Nah, my V sticks to the occasional hooker encounter on JigJig Street. Despite having a de facto monopoly, she only costs 100 eddies, that's... only two and a half buritos actually. Best deal! :obviously:

The game goes downhill after act 1. Story and character wise.
(Also gameplay/quest wise, but that's another topic)

Well there are some braindances on black market. :smug:
"Incompatible with your software"
I swear Judy did that on purpose to prevent V from looking at any other woman. Or parts of them. Severed parts. Actually... on second thought I am happy she did that. :hahano:

Cyberpunk and Witcher 3 are back at full price on GOG. Apparently CDP hopes that patch 1.5 will generate of lot of publicity.

They are back at 20% (Witcher 3) and 50% (CP 2077) of full price. This appears to be a typical "Black Friday promotion" - increase the price first so that it can be reduced after new Witcher saga announcement.
