Credit where it's due in the modding community - CET, TweakXL, ArchiveXL and Red4Ext all got updated on cue with the new patch and the Redscript dev confirmed compatibility.

Will have to watch the shitty Japanese pornographic cartoons show to be able to discern which secrets actually pertain to the characters, since the game is so big you can never be sure the secret you just found isn't actually an old one.
Well, you don't have to, you could just wait until other people do it and post about it online... Unless you want to watch the anime show...

So I had a skim of CDPR's REDmod info, and we get this:

Additionally, once you install the free REDmod DLC, you will be able to enable and disable REDmod compatible mods via REDlauncher and GOG Galaxy.

[...]

The game still supports loading old mods from the archive folder, but please keep in mind that they will not appear in the REDmod menu. New, REDmod compatible mods should be added using the new mods folder for the best experience.

Now this is making me antsy, "best experience" would suggest the new REDmod deployment isn't altogether different from the prior approach, but then maybe it is... I wonder if it'd be sufficient to just install the REDmod DLC to support REDmod-developed packages, but sidestep CDPR's integrated launcher and carry on manually. A big part of the reason I buy on GOG is precisely to avoid all this damned bloatware.

  • Sir John Phallustiff will now have a new Iconic effect, increasing damage when hitting NPCs in the face. It will also have a chance to stun enemies with strong attacks. Gamepads will now be constantly vibrating while holding the weapon.

  • Added more secrets in Night City to be discovered by players. Due to some technical challenges, this change isn't available on the previous generation of consoles.
This is interesting. Last patch also added something like this (same words even), and it was a a weird quest about grabbing a key that fell in the sea for a crying woman in the pier. Might be related to the still unsolved FF06B5 easter egg that Pawel sometimes comments on.

Ok and the proof? Because it's one thing to say it its another thing to show it. It's that secrecy that got them in trouble in the first place they obviously haven't learned their lesson.
If its not ready to ship then don't talk about it.

The 8th gen consoles were the target and only available platforms for the lions share of the development.
Yes, but by 2019 they should've realised that the PS4 + Xbone just weren't capable of properly running the game

Had they done that the game would not only be critically panned it
I don't know man...
One the major problems critics and players alike, blasted CDPR was for the 8th gen inability to basically run the game
Sony did the unthinkable and pulled the game out of the digital store and gave refunds exactly because of it
Even after the 1.5 patch, playing on PS4 is still a gimped version of the game

True, but it would've most likely turned into a disastrous financial decision given the unavailability of current gen consoles no one could have really anticipated or planned for.

This is interesting news about the expansion.

I am playing Cyberpunk 2077 now, bought it when it came out, it has come a long way. Now, it's a fun game to play, miles better than most of the crap coming out these days.

Is it a great game? Probably not, to me it feels a definite step below Witcher 3, but it's fun to play, I've had a lot more fun with it than with all the new releases I played this year (Elden Ring, ELEX 2, Expeditions: Rome, etc).

Insert Title Here
Press E to continue (N times) -> choose between three possible ending slides
Name me an instance in a game where you can't boil down the decisions and outcome like that.

One thing Cyberpunk does well is give you the feeling of how shallow and lonely your experience was, if you bum rush the ending without engaging in any of the side quests. I did that for my first playthrough and it hit me hard.

Same thing with the shortest available ending. It feels earned, logical, human and obvious. I forsee it becoming a staple ending in future RPGs.

Lastly, the most glorious of all endings isn't even available unless you fulfill many hidden criteria. Pressing E to continue won't ever get you there.

What actual gameplay improvements have they made?
- Driving (especially on KB + Mouse)
- re-balancing many of the combat trees. (like Knife Throwing wasn't really playable at launch, Quickhacking was completely overshadowing everything else)
- Street Cred mechanic feels like an organic part of the game compared to the pain in the ass iteration at launch
- transmog system

They added a steering sensitivity slider for PC controls, if you turn it all the way down to 0, driving cars is actually doable/borderline fun. At release, it was like trying to drive a weathervane.

Tons of bugs fixed, so you can play without them interfering.

Combat/stats/abilities/weapons have been rebalanced a bit, so they feel more appropriate.

The underlying game was always good, but those things above prevented the player from experiencing it at release.

That's nice. I assume they took out the bugs that make you go super fast so I'll have to actually drive if I ever touch this again.
Doubt this does anything since the big problem with the RPG elements is whatever you call the level mechanic. You know the thing that makes you die in one shot if you encounter the lv 20 cholo at lv <15~ and take him out in one shot at lv >25~ despite everything else being the same. Though I guess you have to actually fight the enemies if you decide to be a hackerman.

See above.
Many of the bugs were features and added some fun to what is otherwise a by the numbers open world shooter, major decline, bring them back!
See Above
The underlying game was always mediocre as fuck. Like something ubisoft would have shat out if they had to pick between making another Far Cry or another WatchDawgz and chose all of the above.

While CDProjekt and Ubisoft open world games share some bad stuff (spawning camps, idiotic weapon upgrades, etc), there is a fundamental difference in terms of meaning. CDProjektRed actually has good writers, which leads to interesting quests and characters. Ubisoft writing feels like MMO writing. And while there is pointless shit in CDR games, it's realtively under control, whereas in Ubisoft games, that pointless shit IS the game.

haven't played it, but wasn't Cyberpunk's narrative/characters its strongest component?
It is. I'd say that to a large extent the game could be considered similar to VtMB in terms of good atmosphere and narrative design (& being rushed), but - unlike the latter's hub-based design - the open world dilutes its impact quite a bit making it less memorable of an overall experience. When it's great, it's great; most of the time though it's just meh.

I liked the part with the mission that has a self-driving car then you actually get the self-driving car but it can't drive you around because the game's AI isn't capable of doing that
quality

1970: we'll have self-driving cars any day now!
2020: we don't even have self-driving cars in video games
