People gave CD project red too much autistic shit at launch, anyway, game was fine at launch, despite having some major shortcomings, mostly a little cut content and obvilously bugs.

If you could look past that, which wasnt hard, the game was quite a ride in 2020.

I remember the adventure that was being promised with the line "wake the fuck up, samurai..." and what we ended up getting was "don't fall the fuck asleep while following the marker to the next cinematic where your dialogue choices don't matter".

So, yes, that promise was a lie.

It had serious technical issues which haven't been fully fixed. There's the data streaming problem where night city and textures doesn't load in properly, especially if you're driving fast. In 2.0 they created the illusion of fixing it by adding a layer of low res traffic congestion in the distance.

Forever ago I asked if any of the quests were interesting from a gameplay perspective (one of them was).

Did the DLC offer any sort of twist on the usual outpost clearing and "press F to continue the cutscene" gameplay?

No. It doubles down on that sort of design. There's an extended scene in a casino that the devs are so proud of you can replay it back at V's apartment.

Cyberpunk 2077 could probably be regarded as the defining ‘rags to riches’ game of our lifetime. It emerged in 2020 to a woeful reception, boasting more bugs than any game ever released (probably) and hitting an all-time low with fans in terms of sentiment. It was an absolute shocker for CDPR, but it was ultimately turned around, and by the time the game’s first and only expansion was released, it was regarded as one of the best open-world games ever made.

Recently, evidence emerged online of a cancelled DLC set on the Moon, which has plenty of lore around it in the Cyberpunk universe. In a series of images, we see concept art, blueprints, file repositories, and some map-based data for what might have been the first out-of-map expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.


Never Going To Get It​

Phantom Liberty was released in September 2023 and emerged as one of the best expansions for a game ever made. It heralded a new generation of Cyberpunk 2077, which from then was penned as ‘Cyberpunk 2077 2.0’ – and for good reason. It was the ultimate turning point for the title, with CDPR signing off and acknowledging that the game was in the best state it would ever be.

Recently, images emerged on social media diving into the discovery of an unnamed Moon-based expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. In the game’s universe, the Moon has been colonised and cities have been built on the rocky satellite. It’s being used for resources and is a key point of interest for the corporations that effectively run Earth by the time of Cyberpunk 2077’s story. It reportedly has a population of around 58,000 people, and it would have served as the base of operations for Cyberpunk 2077’s second and final expansion.

In the string of images uploaded online, we get a look at file repositories, a rough map of the proposed Moon location, and shots of some early conceptual images and set pieces. As the story goes, CDPR originally intended for the Moon to be a featured location in the base game but recognised that it was too ambitious a goal, so they cut the content and instead decided to use it for an expansion – which ultimately never surfaced.

Cyberpunk 2077’s development has officially ended, so there’s no chance this will ever see the light of day.

They've only got themselves to blame for how they've handled development (& advertisement) tbqh.
The moon base map is already visited in one of the regular game endings if I remember correctyl. I am more curious about the big unused hotel complet on the ground that you can use tricks to get to. Maybe now that support has ended and thus mods don't break with every patch, some creative modders will restore the unused content!

There is nothing to restore. It's just a shell and low polly at that. From what i remember one of devs said that this was supposed to be some kind of heist mission but it got scrapped very early in development.

Ah, that's a shame. Does a level editor for Cyberpunk exist yet?

nope, though they recently released one for TW3 so maybe C77 one is on the menu in near or far future.

Let's hope so! The level editor for Bloodlines was released by fans years after the game and now we can finally create new maps and missions. It would be cool if the same happened to Cyberpunk...
