A "beat cop" is an area patrol officer, "beat" is slang for a regular area or field of activity
I thought it's coming from the cop beating the same path over and over as he is doing his patrol on foot.
it comes from what cops do to innocent lunchtime rowdies

money sink
the first news i watched in the elevator mentioned some nanomachine treatment for the absolutely monstrous amount of 700k per month. you can earn that amount in a few days of just grinding random mooks who sit on sidewalks. this is perhaps the single one game which mostly needed survival elements, you should had been constantly strapped for money, crushed by everything being so damn expensive, instead you're told you have weeks to live but are in fact immortal.
the game has no economy since it's piss easy and drops are bountiful, outrageously so once you reach 40, since this game suffers from oblivion-level level scaling, but only for equipment. mobs keep being pushovers. i could grind cops forever, but what's the point if you don't gain loot and neither xp from them?
this game represents everything "cyberpunk" shouldn't be: you're the punisher. all you do is punish criminals, since even policemen are identified as "beat cop", and when you try to do otherwise you're railroaded into paladin life choices.

I compare it to drug dealers. They have money but are either in prison or dead before they turn 30.

melee spec, gorilla arms, i just knocked out a man who's more like an armored tank who's also trained more than muhammad hardass bruce lee and his implants give him pretty much clairvoyance superpowers. according to lore i could punch buildings into orbit and every time i hit anything there's a chance i could start an atomic fusion. i open a door, a 40kg stronk womyn overwhelms me, i get the option "punch" but i lose anyway.

No, you got overwhelmed by the president of NUSA and a former CEO of Militech (not to mention a professional soldier with years of experience).

She might look like a frail lady but probably has cyberware that you never heard of, because it's not available not even on a black market.

Still, she can be beaten. You just didn't have it in you.

"Corny as it sounds", just makes it sound more corny. But this is Cyberpunk, so corny is the way to go.

I pirated this game. What the hell is wrong with the graphics; they look all plastic and muddy. I have been fiddling with the graphics options but nothing improves.

Looks worse than Half-Life 2 and F.E.A.R. which are sharp and clean.

That's how modern game engines look, unfortunately. I'm afraid it's just going to get worse soon, when raytracing will be integral part of game engines, and dlss/fsr will become basically mandatory (if you don't want to look at a slideshow). Just turn on pathtracing and dlss/fsr and witness our noisy/smeary/blurry gaming future. But hey, the raytraced shadow under every dumpster now looks much more realistic, so it's totally worth it, right?

FYI, the texture quality can be only be changed when you're in the opening menu before loading a save. I play at the low preset, high shadows, high LOD, high textures, no DLSS and I thought it looked good. But yeah, plastic. Guess there's no easy way around that.

they say there's nothing wrong with it cause only in a few years span of time you will be able to game at 6x res and dial back to native res

it used to be 6 months wait for stereo 3d fix in early 2010s when nvidia couldn't muscle stereo support into the game by devs, then things went downhill p fast looks like stereo was just the first casualty.

It didn't like screen space effects then screen space effects won and in order to fix screen space they messed up anything else. That's how good intended this stuff is.

People gave CD project red too much autistic shit at launch, anyway, game was fine at launch, despite having some major shortcomings, mostly a little cut content and obvilously bugs.

If you could look past that, which wasnt hard, the game was quite a ride in 2020.

It was complete dogshit

That's Yosharian speak for, "I couldn't run it at frame locked 120fps so I had a cry about it."
