Ahh, ok.
Does anyone know how badly Beth screwed them?

Edit: Also, what are the odds that it was Beth that called them about that original Kickstarter idea?

I'm sure they didn't get paid anything outside wages. That's entry level bullshit when you get contracted by Bethesda. Fargo may have expected that though. I imagine the real problem was that he wanted to invest in a good working relationship with Bethesda based on mutual respect (as supposedly existed between Interplay and its subsidaries in the old days) so that he could get some of that Elder Scrolls money to make a game like Dishonored or Fallout: New Vegas. Bethesda was using InXile as an obvious pawn to experiment with how a cheap/bad a generic multiplayer action game would sell if they stamped their name on it, plus some assets and resources in case they wanted to make more. Going in that direction, they got limited freedom to try and elevate the mechanics or material above Oblivion levels of generic and and a correspondingly small budget.

I think it sounds like a pretty good setup for a lighthearted comedy game full of stupid, shallow stereotypes, if they can write those. I'm thinking Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure here (which, come to think of it, probably has something to do with the original idea for Meantime). If it's supposed to be some serious business I can't imagine

So I'm just going to say it: That whole Meantime concept sounds stupendously stupid.

*the people who think they are still to see a good Sci-Fi cRPG are in the background, drinking themselves to death and, thus, not represented in this chart.

Why are people getting so excited over a trademark? For all you know, he could be just buying them when they're cheap to make a profit.

What's the Van Buren TM worth without Fallout, anyway?

Martin van Buren is unique among American presidents, in that he was the only one not descended from European royalty. In every American presidential election before and since, the winner has been the candidate with the most royal genetics. Hopefully the "van Buren" trademark is for a game where you play as him and fight the Conspiracy.

Well, given that Fargo said Gippers (a cult worshipping Ronald Reagan, which is cut from the game) is "first on the list" of potential DLCs for WL2, I imagine an expansion pack that revolves around the conflicts between Gippers and another cult worshipping Van Buren.

Nope, fuck you.
You can't destroy my hopes if I never hope in the first place.

Never mind that time travel is a shitty plot device.
Edgy!

Turns out time travel stories can also be really fun and interesting. It's the kind of idea that science fiction is for. If you prefer amazing stories like "What if cars could go 10MPH faster?", good for you I guess, but honestly science fiction just isn't for you.

This reminds me of the time that everyone assumed the (not yet officially announced) Project: Eternity was an RPG based on The Wheel of Time.

They specifically stated and repeatedly stated they were only assisting on that title. I don't see the connection.

Did he? I mean directly like in "Bethesda did this" or "Bethesda is like this" not some innuendos.

Because:

1. I don't see Bethesda giving "blessings" unless they have something to gain anyway.
2. If they have something to gain they wouldn't give a fuck about some innuendos. They're a business not high-school kids.
