My problem is that no company has the balls to go full penetration. Porn is everywhere, why do games shy away from it?

Besides the valid and important argument of moral degeneracy, you also have the fact that sex scenes in any game are cringe as fuck and don't contribute to the gameplay experience in any meaningful way
They just exist for the free marketing that the shock value and outrage bring and to appeal to retards that think maturity equals sex, violence and moral ambiguity

Anyway...
Your argument is also stupid because you're presuming that any of the hundreds of hentai games released since the 90's don't exist

Sex and nudity is fine, especially in this setting, but polygonal humping is cringe as fuck.

Putting Sex in a AAA video game is hardly an act of rebellion against prude boomers and seems more like something an angsty teenager would do to shock his parents. But at this point CDP is obliged to add sex to every single game they make since people just expect it.

Why not show it? Oh well a few more years and people will stop being unrealistic and have the balls to show it
Some actors have small dongs and reluctant to show them; some are gays and pretend to be straight (Tom Cruise, John Travolta) and won't fuck a woman.

Anyway, if you need some hardcore sex scenes in prestigious cinema, I'll recommend you to watch the masterpiece known as Green Elephant.

It's highly amusing to read all these "degenerate" remarks. Ever occured to you that maybe this game simply isn't made for you? Or you want to play it so badly but nudity and sex is what stopping you? Just... move along. Also don't tell me you go into pornhub comment section in order to discuss moral degeneracy there on a daily basis.

As for necessity of including these sort of things in CP2077:

a) the game will have plenty of absolutely 'unnecessary' in a sense detached from gameplay, plot etc crap as is
b) it's nice to actually explore this theme in a literally morally degraded world state and then discuss which interesting takes were made and which are outright false. I mean, it's a game for adults after all.

Honestly cosmetic MTX in a multiplayer shooter is hardly the end of the world. It's not the best, but if it means CDPR get to make more single-player games then I'm struggling to give a shit.
The problem is not that cosmetic mtx in a dumb multiplayer game is some kind of big sin. The problem is that once you see how easy & rewarding it is to take candy from babies your days of honest labor are numbered.

The game features over 1000 NPCs, all of them have their own unique lives and unique daily routines.
I am getting RADIANT AI vibes here.

NPC1: Have you come to see the light?
NPC2: I saw a Cybermudcrab the other day.
NPC1: Disgusting creatures, I stay away from them whenever I can.
NPC2: Any news from the other city districts?
NPC1: I saw a Cybermudcrab the other day.
NPC2: Disgusting creatures, I stay away from them whenever I can.
NPC1: Have nice day.
Player: Want to play Cybergwent?

You don't want a diamond encrusted golden cock ring?

Halfway through the game I'm going to get bored and respec my female assassin into a male melee fighter with a 12 inch neon blue cock.
I for one am looking forward to the inevitable gameplay videos of someone rolling a grrl in a short skirt, with a yuge dick dangeling out of it, and spending 30 mins using the game physics to slap it into every major NPC's face. :hahano:

Oh dear, I hope CDPR is aware of the can of worms they are handing out there...

I have a feeling that they are somewhat aware of the shitstorm that is coming from the dangerhairs. Pre-emptive strikes were already countered, plus they have Pondsmith with his BLM card to play if shit hits the fan.

Yes and that's exactly the entire problem with this game
CDPR would rather waste a couple of million bucks in cringe polygonal humping or any other superfluous and shallow gimmicks, all in the service of the "story", rather than making sure the game plays well and has some of the content they've iniatilly promised but had to cut because "Oh... we didn't have the money for those ambitions since we've pissed it all away in kool-aid features to appeal the masses"

They can go on and on about how they're making an RPG but what they're really want is to provide immersion and memorable experience. I'd say the ability to fuck some chick's brains out along the way in this game's world is more kewl and immersive than staring at train's window for 5 mins straight. Anyway, they have more than enough, even too many resources so we're talking about additional stuff priorities; roughly speaking, quality of the barebones would be the same.

Same reason why movies don't have it. Are you retarded? The moment you show that it becomes porn.
Why not show it? Oh well a few more years and people will stop being unrealistic and have the balls to show it
You're not getting it. Like porn movies, or movies that have porn in them, porn games, or games that have porn in them, already exist. They have since before you were born. The fact that you would like this particular game to feature hardcore instead of softcore has no significance or meaning, and getting your wish would mean no change whatsoever to the overall landscape of the medium.

You're welcome.

No a AAA rpg that goes all the way, why not?

Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith talks about the early days of making RPGs
In his PAX keynote, the cyberpunk creator talked D&D, Traveller, and the 'ridiculous' stakes of designing videogames.

As PAX's keynote speaker, Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith took a half-hour this weekend to talk about how he first got interested in games, how he eventually began creating his own RPGs, and some of the differences he sees between designing tabletop games and videogames.

You can watch the keynote embedded at the bottom of this article (and you should—not only is Pondsmith filled with insight and great stories, he's got an extremely enjoyable and soothing voice).

Pondsmith begins by talking about his early days of playing fantasy RPGs like Chainmail and Dungeons & Dragons. In fact, Pondsmith met his future wife, Lisa, during a D&D campaign DM'd by her boyfriend at the time, who kept trying to kill off Pondsmith's character. (Lisa would later create Cyberpunk's clown gang The Bozos.)

Pondsmith then began playing sci-fi RPG Traveller, which inspired him to start tinkering with the "house rules" and begin designing his own games. "I began to think differently about games," he said. "I began to look at how they go together, why are they fun, what are the elements of entertainment, what are the elements of storytelling, what are the elements of building a world?"

He also speaks fondly about the people he met in the early days of his career (including the creator of Traveller Marc Miller, and Car Wars creator Steve Jackson), and how helpful they were. "Game designers are friendly," Pondsmith said. "People have asked me, did you have problems getting into this business? No, really not, people were really friendly when I started out."

Pondsmith said he tries to be friendly to aspiring game designers too, "because I feel like I have to pass it on for all the people in the industry who were willing to put up with me asking dumb questions and give me really good advice."

While tabletop and videogame design have lots in common, one major difference Pondsmith sees are the stakes involved. Pondsmith says even today he could create and print a tabletop RPG for around $10,000, but video game production can easily run into the tens of millions.

"When I did my first really large videogame project," he said, "I went in and I said 'What are we budgeted for?' And they said twenty million dollars. And I went... 'I am now responsible for figuring out what to do with twenty million dollars. Oh, crud.' So, the stakes are higher."

With so much money on the line, Pondsmith says budding videogame designers will probably meet fewer helpful people than they'd meet in the tabletop industry.

"I think that's partially because videogames are a little more like Hollywood. The stakes are ridiculous, and there's a lot more of a problem with reaching and talking to fans directly. There's a wall there between you and the people who use your game."

Still, Pondsmith says, "Even in videogames you're going to meet people, just a fewer number of them, who are willing to talk to you about this mystical thing we call game design."

So I am, at best, a cultural archaeologist. One who never experiences the current zeitgeist, but reflects on it from the comfort of hindsight - with the detachment of a geology textbook discussing plate tectonics.

With that out of the way, how is what your saying negative in 2020? Sounds like perfect viral/free marketing. A wiser shim than me once said “any publicity is good publicity”.

Hard to say the what the real impact of a Kotaku article about "sexist" stuff is really. On some level any eyes on your game is a good thing, but considering how fast publishers often bend over and beg forgiveness they must see some negative. Maybe that's the best of both worlds, get the eyes from the controversy, get the woke points from the apology, and actually change nothing.

Always best to keep in mind it's all about money and power, on all sides.
