Most of the reviews I've read basically just say that it does a decent job of getting the gameplay from Human Revolution onto the tablet, but doesn't really do much with the universe beyond that.

So basically it's just a semi-decent spinoff that had some effort put into it, but is overall skippable.

I read that they "fixed" the boss fights and added proper alternatives as well as drastically improving AI. This shit should have been on PC.

Here we go again, again.

Deus Ex: The Fall PC edition heads to Steam

Following last year’s release on mobile devices, we’re really happy to now announce that Deus Ex: The Fall is coming to Steam on March 25.

The game’s been adapted for the PC, meaning (of course) full keyboard/mouse controls, but also a whole bunch of other little bits too - so if you didn’t fancy dipping into Ben Saxon’s story previously, now would be an eminently sensible time to reconsider. After all, the game was produced with the original creative team from the superb Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and there's the small matter of new tracks penned by none other than Michael McCann...

The Steam version will sell for £7.99/€9.99/$9.99, but if you pre-order the game now (or grab it for a limited time after launch) you’ll also get the original Deus Ex – Game of the Year Edition as well, for free... and if you’ve already have DE:GOTY, you’ll be able to gift it to somebody else instead!

So what’s on the complete feature list, compared to last year's mobile version of the game?

  • No in-game purchase options
  • 28 Steam achievements
  • Adjusted AI
  • Steam Trading Cards, Badges and (TBC)
  • Revised tutorial
  • Full keyboard and Mouse control optimisation
  • Rebalanced game economy taking into account no IAP
  • Microsoft Controller support
  • Removal of auto target options
  • Reduction in aiming recital size
  • Choice in cover style as DXHR (HOLD or Toggle)
  • Resolution options
  • Anti Aliasing option
  • Vsync
  • Control maps for keyboard and gamepad

It's still too much spinoff money-grabbing for me. I'll wait to see what DX4 looks like and then maybe I'll consider giving Eidos Montreal my money again.

After putting up with piss-poor ported-to-PC-console-games, now we get ported-to-PC-tablet-gimmicky-slot-machine too?

Deus Ex: The Fall releasing early!

So you know how we said that we were going to release Deus Ex: The Fall on Steam later this month? We said March 25 was the day we’d be releasing the game.

Sorry. We lied.

We’re actually ready to go early, so rather than wait for the ‘official’ release date, we thought we’d just release it earlier instead. So the game will now be available on March 18 – woo!

Also, something definitely worth pointing out is for those of you pre-ordering, you can download and play the original Deus Ex game (which is bundled with Deus Ex: The Fall in a special deal) right away – no need to wait for March 18 to play that one!

So you know how we said that we were going to release a complete game? We said March 25 was the day we’d be releasing the game.

Sorry. We lied.

We actually really need money, so rather than wait to finish the game, we thought we’d just release it as it is. So it will now be available on March 18 – woo! The rest will be available when ready as overpriced DLC packs.

Translated marketing speak.

Heh, I need a new deus ex copy since my disc is wearing out. I would pay 9.99 for the fall and old Deus ex.

Or you can just buy the original Deus Ex for $6.99 and save yourself $3.

I'll wait for reviews and user feedback. On the one hand it could be a solid "mini Deus Ex" but, well, starting life as a mobile game means it might not do it for me.

I played it. It is a "mini Deus Ex" no so much as being a two-button iPhone retardo, but it's length. It's basically one Panama City hub with a total number of 4 small side quests. The game was obviously intended to be the first entry into the mobile Deus Ex episodes of at least three or four, but it seems to be way too late for that. They try to milk some more time out of this 2 hour experience by introducing NG+ among other things but unless you happen to have a tablet and can get it for 0.99$ then don't bother.

Too bad they didn't release on PC in the first place. We could have had a bunch of "Deus Ex: Episodes" by now, maybe.
