Don't know why you framed it as real-time vs. the world though. He was talking about D4 being less immersive than D1+2 specifically.

On that note, I have to ask if there are custom death animations in this game? They did a really good job with that in 1 and 2, but from what I've seen of 4, enemies just kind of fall over. Very weak.

That was more a response to most of the people here, not just nathir. You'll notice that after I single handedly and effortlessly destroyed RTWP in a quick 6 minute video, exposing it for the sham that it is, nobody had a single defensive thing to say. It was swept under the rug and you know why? Because I was right!

And of course it's less immersive than Diablo 1. Anything short of a From Software game fails to touch that masterpiece. Diablo 1 is a once in a generation type of thing.

RTwP is indeed half-measure faggotry. I enjoyed Icewind Dale and Hordes of the Underdark, that's about it. Thought most people on this forum either loathed it or thought it meh at best.

Well it's the weekend so of course. You seem mad. And yes I know for a fact I have the most successful youtube channel here because Edders was my only competitor (and it was argued that my channel got more viewership than his) and ed is now gone so I'm the only e-celeb left.

Anyways I have to run and pick up kitten food. I will boot up D4 when I get back. Currently lvl 35 and I'm starting to think my build is shit. It's taking me longer and longer to clear mobs and bosses keep getting less manageable. Might try ice sorce.

I am playing a barbarian, started as an arsenal build, switching weapons constantly, using Iron Maelstrom, Whirlwind, Deathblow, Lunging Strike. Fun build, and very mobile, but got a little tired of the switching, and respecced as a pure bleeding 2h sword build. Also very fun!

Been playing this for a week or two. Fun game!

I haven't played Diablo 3, but played a lot of Diablo/Diablo 2 back in the day. This game is a lot better looking of course, but mechanically, it's also a lot more interesting.

Diablo 3 is kind of like this but much shittier. Uglier game by far and the writing was garbage. D4 is better designed all around. 3 is alot of fun though. I'd recommend checking it out at some point. I'm glad you're having fun porky.

Lol, just fought this boss named Bramble to get an aspect of standing still

He has some bug, where he converts statues into minions, but they dont convert back if you die, so every time you come, he has twice as many minions. Haha, it got to the point I couldn't move inside his room.

In case anyone cares, this is what I learned about barb mechanics (online wikis are REALLY bad at presenting info so far, probably cause the game just came out):

Whirlwind seems to be more of an anti crowd skill now. It works wonders against regular mobs, especially large crowds, but seems underwhelming against elites/bosses. Maybe this changes later on with better gear/etc.

Deathblow is another skill like that, great against regular mobs because the cooldown refreshes when it kills them, but against bosses, it's just a high damage ability once every 15 secs.

A bleed build seems to provide better "consistent" burst damage against elites/bosses, though it's more challenging (requires much more positioning, movement, targeting, etc). Bleeds (Flay, Rend) don't stack per se, they just go into a queue one after another. So if you apply 3 rends, they will run for 15 secs (3x5), but still do one Rend damage at a time.

So my bleed build is something like (I am still experimenting): Flay, Rend, Ground Stomp, Puncture, Chains.

Flay and Ground Stomp generate Fury for Rend (and flay adds a bit to Puncture damage, and sometimes generates Vulnerable). Chains apply vulnerable much more consistently, and rend refreshes it. Ultimates don't really fit this build, imo, so I am skipping them.

The general rotation is hit Flay 2-3 times and Ground Stomp to generate enough Fury for at least a couple of Rends. Apply Rends, then Puncture. Use chains before to apply vulnerable and reposition high priority enemies.

The damage comes from puncturing serveral Rends and Flays together into one burst of damage. But also from stacking these:
+ strength
+ high crit chance and damage (passive key skill that applies crit to bleeds, bleeds apply slow + 9% crit chance to slowed enemies, crit gear)
+ damage over time
+ damage to Vulnerable

Seems D4 is following PoE design, map/dungeon bosses are a joke while white mobs can one shot you:


That is nothing like PoE. Getting one shotted outside of bosses is extremely rare and "white"/normal monster can't ever kill you in one hit, because there is no level scaling. The so called oneshot deaths in PoE (99% of them are not actual one-shots) are rare combinations of an enemy having stacked buffs from map mods + crit-ing you or dying from avoidable game mechanic.

Why am I even replying as none of you know what they're talking about.
