Does the new class look interesting at all? Would I have to replay the entire base game with a new character to get to the expansion?

Admittedly yes.

You can choose what campaign you do but you could just watch a recap. This is a continuation of the base game's story.
I've completed the base game with a Roguey character, which probably still exists if Blizzard didn't delete my data for some reason, but I'd like to try the new class. Then again, replaying the whole base game would be a chore and I'll probably get burnt out before I ever get to the expansion (which is exactly what happened with Shado of the Errdtree!).

So... continue with the same Roguey, or switch over to the DragonSpiritborn?

Oh, the tyranny of choices and consequences!

People never take into account that millions ontop of millions of people flock to a new Blizzard release and they flood the servers which is why their games always have a rocky launch. They are so loved that they aren't allowed to have a good launch.

And by "People" you mean Blizzard, because they fail to prepare for this.

It's not failure, is math. The costs of implementing what is needed do not outweight the benefits. If they would be hit with a wall of chargebacks, stuff would change. But it's obviously not the case.

Eh, only got to play for a couple hours (having a job is lame). I need to see more of the Spiritborn to decide if it sucks or not. As of right now it doesn't feel anywhere near as satisfying to play as the Rogue but I can say that about any character. The Rogue is just too dope. Didn't get to try any of the new side stuff. Just followed the main story. So far it's just more D4. Welp that's my review after playing for a couple hours good night.

By online D4 guide builders new class has a bunch of builds that can do all content while older classes (except for Necro) have way less. Especially Rogue which has 2 builds that work in endgame.

I don't care about that gay minmax crap. The Rogue is the funnest character to play as. Always has been.

It's still failure, and you presented one reason for it. There are also less costly options to deal with it.

A good part of this isn't just the servers getting flooded, but the fact that they are not competent enough to recover from that state.

I started a Barb in new season since I have not played one yet. New skill Mighty throw is supposed to be good.
Leveling up with Whirlwind is painfully, even worse than D2 barb..
