PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Divinity: Original Sin 2 A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath
Makes sense, but it is not how it works in game. These distractions (like getting gun back) improve your chances so to speak.

I wasn't gaming. I was role-playing. I don't think I've ever been that immersed in my role in a game, not even with PS:T.
In my playthrough I never got my gun back. I didn't want to work for Evret.

So are there any significant things to be done behind Kim's back? Sure, little things like the boots, but given there are pretty robust mechanics for Kim coming and going (sneaking out at night, or sending him to deliver the corpse), and given the nature of the Evrart/Joyce setup, I would have thought that the whole point is have dumbass PC go back to Evrart alone and cut a stupid deal, things like that. It's disappointing that there's not more there.

I remember on day 2 sending Kim to go take the corpse to the Precint and was going around talking and doing side quests, one of which was Joyce's so i was looking for the drug dealer, found the racist driver and i just couldn't get him to talk about the female driver at all, no matter what option i picked, he just said something about the RCM not being in charge and how great and mighty the Union was and blah blah blah.

Day 3 i go back with Kim and suddenly the dialogue opens and i managed to actually get some information, while it's true you can only do some stuff when Kim isn't around, the same can also be said about parts of the game only being opened when good old Kim is around, by the way, is there anything to do on night?

I only went out to talk to that diplomat and get my gun back, never really explored much at night, the detective does need to sleep after all and it didn't seem like a lot of places would be open or that dialogue would change too much at night.

That sucks shit. I never thought it would be a super nonlinear game, but I'm starting to suspect that it's actually a very linear game.

Tried barging into the bookstore without even talking to the girl or lady, ignoring the protestations as hate-superstitions-brawny-cop pulled open the curtains. Turns out lady just goes OH BTW GHOST IN THERE ANYWAY FINE YOU GO IN I GUESS

Also as far as I can tell once you pass the Drama check, doesn't matter what retarded shit you tell her she believes your tale about being a ghostbuster

Would you go against a guy that just broke down your door by running into it twice and has probably been acting and looking like a drunken crazy bastard going to a place you believe is cursed?

No, you let that man in and hope he doesn't do anything.

I'm having some doubts about the game's random number generator. Try purposely savescumming. It took me between 4 to 6 attempts on average to beat a 40% or 50% skill check. Just to be clear, the savescummed checks are rerolled each time (some games like Eschalon saved the random seed to try and prevent that).

Could it be that the game is using a wrong formula? There's a difference between 2d6 and 1d12.

I've managed to savescum even impossible checks by retrying for that sweet 6-6.

True. But how many attempts did it take and were the rolls consistent with the percentage value shown in the dialog interface?

Quite a few, over a dozen anyhow. And I wouldn't say they were consistent, but we're dealing with the probability of rolling two 6s for an automatic success here, not that of the percentages based on skills.

The liberal vision quest would have led you to that dungeon, in search of the skull of a famous interior designer, rumoured to have an immensely valuable amount of cocaine encrusted in its nasal cavities.
ah, the Cocaine Skull described by Idiot Doom Spiral and immediately recognized by Electrochemistry - when you want to accept the quest he tells you it's impossible while the road next to the dog Harrier ran over is closed and you can't assemble a Indiana Jones-like expedition etc.

I wonder if it's possible to dodge the second shot (the impossible Reaction Speed check) during the tribunal?

I have succeeded Impossible checks before (during the coast phone call there's a Volition 20 check, and I actually succeeded with a 3% chance -- still went on to call though), so unless the game goes out of its way to screw the player over, it should be possible and the results could be interesting. I have never emphasized Motorics or Reaction Speed so it's unlikely I'll ever get to that situation myself.

Maybe, but some impossible checks really are impossible, the military bunker near Land's End got me curious and i save scummed a lot to enter it and nothing, even if you suceed the door is closed and Kim talks about how you don't always get answers or what you want in life, sometimes winning results in nothing happening.

Finished the game last night. Overall I give it high marks. Loved the overall quality of the writing, game world and character system. The end did bother me a bit, but not the extent that I felt it significantly ruined the experience.

The railroading at the end didn't bother me at all because the game tells you it is coming. When I found Ruby's hideout, I had an appointment to get my gun but didn't have the gun yet so I turned around. IMO, the false signature option for Everett's quest should more explicitly state that you are just going to have some bums sign their own names and that you're not forging the names and screwing the fishing village over. What confused me is that i saw no difference between getting the wrong signatures or sending the envelope with no signatures after having been seen in the fishing village.

The part I didn't like is not really being able to solve the crime on my own. I knew I still had to check on the island to see if the shot came from there, I just couldn't. And I didn't expect or need the "help" the game gives you in figuring out that you need to go there after the Tribunal. I guess whether or not you can get the shooter to confess is the test on how well the investigation went but it feels anti-climatic after being given a huge red arrow pointing to the killer. The ending conversation makes it clear that what the game is really about Harry's conduct during the investigation and "what kind of cop are you". Fair enough. Turns out the "along the way" meme being posted in DE threads is actually 100% accurate. I understand why they don't want you solving the case before the tribunal because it is a very cool sequence that you don't want to miss. But, at the very least, the player should have the option of mentioning the island during the tribunal and if that happens, the red arrow shouldn't occur.

Unless Paranoia somehow manages to be a masterpiece, Disco seems primed for that RPG of the Year title.

What's the competition at this point anyway? TOW turned out to be a squib, Stygian faceplanted, PF:KM was last year... what else is there in the running?

Was good. I'm replaying some parts to see some different outcomes. Wish it would've been a little longer, though.

Rene, I trust you, tell me if I gonna hate myself when purchasing Stygian after DE?
