Time to pull an allnighter playing through the final cut while consuming industrial quantities of coffee, black tea and cigs. :positive:

Didn't make it out of my room yet, the narration is fucking awful. I don't think the voice actor had any idea what the context of the lines was, as he read them in his monotone voice.

Not to mention that he often puts the emphases on the wrong words. Still not unbearable, but meh.

Got Revacholian Nationhood, didn't internalize it yet. I wonder at which stage of the game the quest appears. Four out of five fascist characters are located in the first zone, but the Cryptofascist is in the second one.

On a different note, there are supposed to be new clothes available as well. Are they scattered around the city or have they been simply added to the preexisting vendors?

Let us know if the final cut is still more or less completely linear with only 1 conclusion to the investigation.

Sure thing, fam. I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you though. :M

There'll be people who'll complete the game far earlier than I shall. It's late at night, and I've made the mistake of starting on hardcore mode, which turned out to have meant a lot of pointless savescumming.

Will the steam auto-update force me into this new version? Should I keep it disabled since I hate full voice acting?
At least the game still runs fine directly from the executable.

You can choose in-game which mode of voice acting you prefer.

I played it for 3 hours this evening. Haven't turned off the full voice acting yet, although I was also skeptical at first. It's nowhere as bad as you make it out to be. It brings a certain freshness to my second playthrough. However, classic mode clearly remains the best choice for a first playthrough.

The VA also outright butchers the text here and there. Thus far, the narrator dropped the 's' at the end of the plural word and - in a different unrelated talk - said 9 instead of 11.

Thank you. I just dislike full narration in rpgs in general, prefer to read at my own pace and leave a bit more to imagination. I was in the mid of my second playthrough, I think I will update and keep the old voice acting.

Hey babies, wake up from your asleep. What exactly does the rebalance of health items entail? Do I need to update my autistic house rules?

Cautiously optimistic re: the new VO. Did they switch out the Chapo Class Reductionist people (Smoker-chan and Kortenaer-kun IIRC?) They were the only ones in the original bunch I didn't like.

EDIT: Narrator VO seems fine to my ear except for the glacial cadence, but listening to the same voice for half of the script seems really overwhelming, and I think it's more fun to project your own personalities into the skills. I see why they added the "Psychological" VO option (which disables the narrator but keeps the rest of the voices) - it is likely what I will end up going with.

Does this make it any good?

If you didn't like it before, you won't like it now.

Unless you're one of those sub-humans who actually want everything to be voice-acted, in which case my answer is "possibly".
Having voice acting in the original was indeed bad but now its even worse with the re-dubbing of old lines being of lower quality than the original. Compare the two iterations of ''fuck does cuno care'' for instance.

Do the redubbed lines carry over to classic mode? That would be truly horrible. EDIT: Reading the thread, it seems like they do. That sucks.

The game was made in Unity, right? I'm not exactly an expert, but I know it's a piss easy engine to work with. Decoding the compiled files, less so. I dunno, the gears in my head are spinning on this because I feel like this is going to be one of those "mods will fix it" things (along with some of the portraits, maybe) and I don't really want to wait for someone else's mod

It's less about being whatever passes for bad and more that alot of the characters have lost little bits of their original VO that made their sparse voiced lines memorable and unique. Garte's lost his nasally tinge, Klaasje doesn't sound nearly as anhedonic as she used to and Lena's traded her grandmotherly cadence for a slight southern drawl.

Played a few hours of Final Cut so far. Made Harry HARDCORE TO THE MAX, HARDCORE TO THE ULTRA just for the hell of it which might've been a poor decision since it's been about a year since I played so I'm not really min-maxing, but it's worth a shot. Previous Harry was all physical and this Harry is all feels and thinks, and even in this short span of time I've seen a few fairly large things I didn't even know about the first time. Didn't know you could figure the gardener out in day 1, for example.

Voice acting's been largely good, but like Hong said there are a few oddities. I think I've seen maybe one or two un-voiced lines and then there have been a couple instances where the voice actor says something different than what's written. Not the end of the world since it's still worth reading the dialog, but still. The actors have been good, I especially like Garte's nasal and kinda whiny voice, but HOLY GODDAMN FUCK, WHO DIDDLED THE CUNO? He went from harsh obnoxious iconic posterchild of Disco to just kind of a kid. I'm not even sure if it's the same actor any more and they just had him redo all his old lines, or if it's someone new and they redid all of his voicework. Disappointing since Cuno being a horrible little shit was the most memorable bit of the voice acting in the base game. Cunoesse sounds the same but Cuno threw me for a fucking loop. Speaking of fucking, still disappointed that faggot's censored. Bitched about it before and I'm bitching about it a little again!

As far as I know I haven't bumped into any new gameplay content yet but enjoying playing the game again. Even with the little oddities here and there the voice work seems like a net positive to the experience.
