One minor annoyance with Dishonored.

The radial menu for selecting spells is also the radial menu for selecting weapons and the radial menu for selecting usable items.

Instead of segregating them into a weapons menu, spells menu, and items menu, everything is put together in a single radial menu. That just strikes me ass a very counterintuitive way of handling things, as if switching out weapons is the same thing as casting a spell.

In fact, this game has this dual wield annoyance, where casting a spell requires keeping a hand free. If you have a pistol in your left hand, you must switch your pistol away in order to cast Rat Swarm with your left land. Why? Is a spell basically a weapon that you wield in one hand?

Another thing that baffles me is how Possession works.

If you possess a body and run away to another place, why does your original body get teleported to the new place along with the possessed body? Shouldn't Possession only allow you to navigate instead of somehow manifesting all a new in a new location? Shouldn't Possession come with the risk of your main body being killed while you possess another body?

I am sure such elements may change, but if Possession works this way, it is virtually a cheat code! Imagine JC Denton using Possession on a NSF trooper, going all the way to the top of the Statue of Liberty, re-appearing in his normal body there, and confronting the NSF commander!

You won't be able to run it on your shitty computer anyway Wyrmie.
MP3 is set on High by default on this rig, so what is your point anyway?

Strangely enough, I thought Codexers were above this whole "My hardware is superior to your hardware" business.

Wyrmlord: From what I can tell mana drains quite quickly with possession. It's not the kind of thing where you can just possess a guard and walk over to the endgame- more like a quick chance to get somewhere or take someone out.

Welcome to Harvey Smith-the-shithead world. Always blaming someone else.

The dude did Deus Ex Invisible War and when this piece of shit failed he actually blamed... gamers for misunderstanding his VISION.
Hey, that's not true. He also blamed his divorce. And his developer friends who told him to streamline skills.

There's also this Deus Ex post-mortem flying around where he talks about IW, their intentions, why some stuff sucked in the end, etc.
Is at least interesting to watch.
He sure has made some questionable decisions, but given that he also worked on some masterpieces, I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt for now.

But hey, expecting valid and level-headed criticism and common sense something else but KKK-mongering is too much to ask from some people.

That's what I was referencing. :P

And right after the "my developer friends gave me bad advice!" part he mentioned how important it is not to make a game for a dozen guys in their basement. Even though the problem with Invisible War was that it tried to do the opposite of that. What a maroon.

What if the dozen guys in the basement ARE his developer friends?

I agree with you that the gist of what he said in that video is strange from our point of view ("nerds demanded I dumb down the game!"), but who knows what type of people he hangs around with?

So, basically he has no personal vision for his games. He is a hustler, stealing ideas from all kind of places and if it works, he enjoy the praise, if not, he pass the guilt to someone else.

I think you are demanding too much. Do you realize how rare it is for a developer to even admit that his game sucked in the first place? The guy went on camera with Warren Spector and admitted that they fucked up a game. Who cares what exactly they blame it on?

Yeah next to Mike Laidlaw's piss poor excuses and EA's "We are disappointed in the fan reaction to our game" Harvey Smith even admitting that Invisible War was a screw up is a pretty big deal.

Looking p good. Good thing that the levels are big and open, judging from the videos released thus far. That was one of my biggest concerns about this game.

Lloks like thief. Just without the difficulty and the elements from Dragon age 2; press a button and something awesome seems to happen.
