The difficulty complaints are just fucking bizarre. I dropped down to easy just to see what the big deal is, and I was plowing through shit. If the game is too hard, put it on "Easy." If it is still too hard, go take up knitting you fucking idiots.
They didn't dig deep enough or explored the skill sets.
In other words, they should've listened to Jahan:
A lot of people are clueless on those multi-classing and prefer to go traditional fighter, mage, thief, cleric party.
Which is fine, but some fights just require that extra 'cheese factor' like:
- Teleport as a 1st level Air Spell is just too damn good.
Even a 5 INT character can derive mileage from that re-positioning. It needs to either be replaced with a knockdown attack like Gust of Wind, or be resistible by Body Building.
Cause as it is, a Warrior with Teleport can contribute so much in battle at such little cost. Even with the long cooldown, a crucial pickup and drop of an enemy can be turned into AOE dmg by dropping it on a group, or effective crowd control skill. It might've been funny watching 4 x Lv 1 Air Mage just dunking a boss over and over like a game of volleyball but seeing it work for almost every encounter made me think it's just lazy developer decision.
I'm not surprised many new players don't see this. They thought mage should cast spells and warriors should tank. Which the latter can't really do at lvl 1-6.
- Oath of Desecration is just free damage.
It's is a decent party buff idea - but the binary 100% or nothing buff needs to go away - cut it down to 50% and scale up to 5% per INT after 8 or something. It's not a great pick for low INT mages, but 8 INT mages have no reason not to pick this up. The bonus is just insanely good when you apply the 2x modifier to AOE attacks. Not to mention there are super high single target damage moves out there like Death Punch that simply say 'Why the fuck not? Do it.'
At its current state, there's just no excuse not to buff one/two of your damage dealers pre-combat with OoD - it lasts 3 turns.
It's just insane seeing a 3 AP buff giving DOUBLE damage for 3 turns. Literally converting 6 AP (common attack move cost) into 12 AP worth of damage. FOR THREE TURNS.
After finding out about what 'broke' the game, most trash fight devolve into going through the motions, taking very little damage, and resolving them in just 2-3 turns. Boring.
- No voice over, or 'how I prefer to read spoken lines' syndrome.
The whole of Cyseal quest chain can easily net them at least 1.5 level from simply talking and minor combat. Taking them from level 2 to 3.5 rapidly can make it much easier to face a lot of encounters out there, especially once you picked Jahan and Madora. But of course with the modern bio-crowd obsession with cinematic presentation, they don't really think any of the conversation are that important. They skimmed through, got bored, decided - fuck this let's go out and kill stuff to level up faster.
Which usually leads to this:
I jumped into random co-op and see this all the time when I let newcomers lead. Two of us, level 2. Taking on 5 x Lv3 Zombies? Yeah it's possible, only if you're not a retard who wants to 'swordplay' with a mage.
