I'm pretty sure I must be way over 40 hours in and I'm lvl 14, still not finished with all the Silverglen stuff. I just keep getting lost etc. Just now I finished about 1 hour long battle with the big statues near the hunter's edge, in that dungeon. The screen was so full of elemental effects that my FPS dropped to like 10 and made the battle last even longer, but I did it on the 1st try without any reloads.

The game is awesome and mostly because of the combat system which is surely one of the best out there. I still don't like most of the dialogues except a few jokes and I don't like the art style.

I've found some Codex of Pestilent Thought and I guess it might have something to do with this webzone here?
And there was a Hiver sitting in one of the inns. The whole dining room looked stuffed with backers' named characters.

Another reason to njot trust Steam. L0L A) It's users are bullshitz. and b) It cna't tell time. c) It includes when games are idle.

The fukkin' game at 187 hours. LMFAO

O RLY?

Even if DOS was 187 hours, I'd still enjoy the 30-40 (or 10 0r 100 hour depending who you ask :P) hour JE more. :)

I enjoyed JE. Wasn't a big fan of the combat because I've played a lot of 'real' action games (Devil May Cry, etc.). However, not at all saying it's terrible. But melee was clunky and a little simplistic (again in comparison to a good action game).... Quite possible that a magic focused character would've been more interesting. And I did like all of the non-combat aspects of the game.

Anyways I don't really care to compare games anymore, at least those that are similar enough in quality. It's just the really shit games I'll disparage. I just realized it's silly to have a staunch opinion on specific video game... Instead I just focus on specific weaknesses/strengths of certain aspects of the game, you learn a lot more about game design that way.

It really wasn't. Magic chars had only two attack styles available to them out of 4 (thanks karma system), and the first one you get becomes obsolete pretty fast. Shit becomes very boring after a while.

And somewhat predictably...

I've seen lots of reports of people really enjoying Divinity: Original Sin -- including PC Gamer calling it the 16th best RPG of all time -- but I'm just not there. I liked Original Sin, but I didn't love it, and it's not even my favorite Divinity game (it's actually third for me, behind Divine Divinity and Ego Draconis). Some of the problems I had with Original Sin -- like the lack of movement keys -- will no doubt get fixed eventually. But other problems -- like the storyline that is too basic for a 100-hour game, and the difficulty that starts out on "brutal" and ends up on "cakewalk" -- are probably here to stay.

Still, while you shouldn't necessarily believe that Original Sin is the best thing since sliced bread, it's still a worthwhile purchase. The campaign offers 100 hours of content (which will only grow larger once modders sink their teeth into the game), there are some good puzzles and fun quests, and the combat engine is unique and interesting. Plus, there's always that chance that I'm in the minority here and Original Sin really does deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Baldur's Gate. I'm just not going to be the one who does it.

He's right, though.

Good, but not great and def. not in the same league as a modded BG2.

May have to wait for future big mods/patches/add-ons to fix things.

he's absolutely right. except, perhaps, his ranking of divinity titles. also not sure about the movement keys thing.

It has possibly the best pathfinding I've ever seen in an Isometric game -- lack of movement keys seems like a meaningless quibble.

lol it shits on every IE game ever when it comes to the technical stuff. like your clusterfuck of a party actually never ever steps on a visible mine. this one thing totally amazes me. The combat shits on every IE and IE clone ever except for maybe ToEE which I didn't play..? I can see how storyfags may not like it at all and I understand.

I just wish the waypoints were named on the map because I have no idea which one is which half the time. I wish I could zoom in on the map and when I turn it off, have the camera positioned at that location. I wish the targeting system got cleaned up a little bit. There are times when I can't target stuff that seems to be clearly in the line of sight and then I have to search for that single molecule on the enemy's model for the target to work but then they fucking move and I gotta start all over. These are only insignificant complaints however, the game works great.

Hey I discovered a cool way to clear the path ahead when I suspect there are mines there. I use Firefly and set everything on fire very easily instead of randomly fireballing the road.

Combat that becomes pointless after the first third = failure.
