I think someone who has played modern zoomer shooters thinks it's an artistic style.

The first game with weird proportions that has made an impression on me was Dishonored, which coincidentially got so much praise over its distinctive art style. I didn't like the big heads even back then.

In another thread, I was complaining about purple and some guy told me to go outside because there is colour irl. My job requires me to drive hundreds of km all over the county. So as an experiment, I went ahead and counted every instance of purple I saw in an 8 hour day. Final count was 3, all on signs and one of them was taco bell. Purple can fuck off, we dont need it.

It's the neon purple that is the issue, not purple in general.
The overuse of this color looks cheap, like lights in a night club, like a shitty chink mmo.
There is plenty of flowers and fruit that are purple but none of them are of the neon variety, neon colors just don't appear irl.
It screams fake, it screams unnatural.

It's both a visual trend and bisexual lighting (I think someone else also mentioned this in this thread a while ago). I think most of the time when that colour combo is used it's just people following a popular trend and doesn't really mean anything deeper, but in this particular case I would be shocked if the Veilguard team weren't aware of it and doing it on purpose given that all the companions are bisexual.

'Popular trend' would go hand-in-hand with the color-coding of games. They chose purple and pink specifically because it's both girl- and queer-coded. Considering those are the very target demographics Veilguard is marketed to, nothing else would make sense. Baldurs Gate 3 has already chosen blue, as in male coding. EAWare knows that it wouldn't be smart to try to compete with Larian directly, so they went the opposite way with their color-coding. Everything else about Veilguard also fits this demographic like a glove even if they didn't intend it from the beginning, like the simplified combat and character development. They put all of their money on the story, romances, and hair and makeup options.

Perfect example actually.
The one on the left is ridiculous, cheap, plasticky looking abomination. Neon purple everywhere that hurts the eyes. The cherry on top is that it is a man cosplaying as a woman. A man that can never reach the grace, beauty and subtle nature of true femininity.

The one on the right is a beautiful woman with exaggerated makeup and headpieces to indicate that she is a dangerous evil witch. None of the colors are neon, they are mixture of dim with a little touch of brightness. The whole design just falls perfectly in place. Underneath all that is a beautiful elegant looking woman that just captivates you with her beauty and grace.
One of Nomura's best designs imo.

Nope, I'm up and down the countryside every day, down the dingiest unpaved backroads and it's just trees mostly and farmer's fields. Lots of dandelions. If I saw that field of purple, I would set it on fire. Purple is done for me, I'm through with it. I've seen enough purple for ten lifetimes in the last few years.

If that means giving up on eggplants and flowers (which are a scam that girls use to emasculate you by tricking you into wasting money on dead weeds.) then I'm ok with that. Send them all to the incinerators !!
