Calling it now - ME5 or whatever the number is now will be shit.

I feel uneasy at the thought of a group of space marines with assault rifles and shotguns sitting around correcting each other about the proper way to apologize for misgendering someone.

Lol. Lmao even. You think you'll play as a space marine? You'll play as some annoying bitch that allied itself with some injuns aliens on some shithole planet and will spend the game killing said marines for being racist colonists.

Also, I can't put my finger as to exactly why but I can't stand Jason Schreier. What a clown.
Probably the only video games journalist I can recall by face and name, and he has managed to get a lot of inside information just by interviewing annoyed developers. He does good work, and you do benefit from it, even if you end up watching someone else's retelling of his journalism, because you can't stand him.

How far in development is ME5? If not that far, there is time for course correction.
It's likely further along than people realize. Pre-production started 4+ years ago, had a small team getting the ball rolling and now the entire studio is working on it. Expecting a late 2026 / early 2027 release.

This guys is an activist with some connections to the industry. The fact that he objectively shames developer studios because they are too white, but never talks about the real important stuff like the "Stop Killing Games"-campaign is everything you have to know about this rat-faced kike.

This has to be the gayest, stupidest, lamest out of touch shit i've read in a while. Peak woketard's humor i guess.

Also WWE wrestling? lol what is this? 2000s? Who the fuck even cares about WWE today?
Libtards have been basing their right wing strawman on Stephen Colbert sketches since 2005. They're all hillbillies who watch NASCAR and wrestling and they hate science because of creationism.

The funny part of the post is that he's written up a fantasy where he is trying to make himself look really cool, but even in the fantasy he is unemployed.

Yup, four MAGA bros spent an hour asking questions about some shit tranny game, as you cleverly twisted the truth around your finger to trick them into buying it.

Hysterical!!! Trump's still president for the next 4 years tho.

Honestly, after today's revelations about Veilguard, I feel hope. This was the last assurance I needed to know that we've turned some major cultural cornerstone, and that we're heading back towards the saner world. Maybe not absolutely sane, but saner.

It's not so much MMO combat as much as unfinished. It oozes incompleteness from every orifice. Not a single class is well designed or balanced, especially the specialisations. Auto attacks are usually the way to do max DPS because a lot of the abilities are a net DPS loss due to how the animations work. Mages' schools vary wildly in effectiveness and usefulness too. I've tried to make a debuff-support mage in the past, but it's strictly worse than being a damage dealer. It's a mess.

I agree with the first part, even if there is an element that is perceived as MMO standard like cooldowns, they were pretty pointless as the combat never revolved around them. Unlike combos (also stamina/mana management) that are a staple of action games. If you wanted to optimize combat you had to do combos, for damage or CC it was the best way to beat combat encounters. Some people on the Codex ofc don't understand gameplay mechanics and parrot shit that sounds good, but is wrong. If Dragon Age went the MMO way it would had been pure incline, and I'm talking about the time when MMOs weren't shitty action game, but instead shitty RPGs. As we see what we got is not MMO combat, but action combat and the reason why MMOs are also in pure decline gameplay wise as well.

I have to say, there's something extremely disconcerting about the style of these AAA games. BG3, Drag Age: Failguard, Ass Effect, The Dog Itcher III, CP2077 (CP stands for Cheese Pizza btw), etc. There is so much put into animations and cutscenes that what should be games seems to resemble more and more interactive movies.

Seeing some of the videos of this most recent Drag Age, it's just holding down a button or pressing a button (is this what's meant by "press a button and awesome happens?") to see numbers constantly pop up on screen much like new obsidian games or even VTMB. 99% of a TES game is often just holding down a button and most of the time there are no numbers because you're just moving the character around. Hell, this is even the degenerate direction of the original Diablo.

I think the industry has really departed from these games should be a long time ago. They should be computer games, not videos games. The point should be to use computers to automate all the calculations and such which results in a lot of time saved in gameplay so that the player can focus entirely on the strategic and tactical part of a game. Whereas a video game is barely a game resembling more of an interactive movie. Action games of all varieties, if it weren't for the dance-dance revolution timing-based gameplay, would have nothing to distinguish them from animated movies. And unfortunately many tactical developers, especially Larian, think it's a good idea to make their games unnecessarily slow by incorporating an excess of slow animations for actions. Considering something like KotC1+2 which have minimal animations or something like Underrail with simple animations you can multiply the speed by a factor of five which speeds up the gameplay greatly, you really see how much time is wasted by these animations for everything. With them gone or simplified and speed up, the turn-order would run 5-10 times or even faster with the only limiter being you thinking or the computer running calculations.

I think this is too optimistic take. I doubt we are "turning some major cultural cornerstone", considering that reviews for this are still "Mostly Positive (73% out of 16,480)". For comparison, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide got waaaay below 50%. Even now, after two years of patching and adding content, it sits at Mixed (69% out of 83,447).

At best BioWare will take a hit and MAYBE (it is a very big "maybe") some companies will take notice that excessive wokeism doesn't pay (and that you still need a game to be decent on its own merits at the end of the day). But I personally think for that to happen there have to be more financial disasters so the whole process is proven as sustainable no longer.
