A trans guy's criticism of the game:

It's better than the other video someone posted with the guy talking in an intolerable gay voice. This one's possible to listen to.

Big kudos to that chap. If all Trans people were as sensible and honest as he is in that vid, then there'd be far less hate for them.

Regardless, that video demonstrates why these noodlebrains shouldn't get involved in game development. The last part about Taash's notes shows how they are unable or extremely unwilling to separate fantasy from real life. He goes on and on about how problematic it is to be able to read Taash's private notes, but who the fuck gives a shit? It wouldn't hurt my suspension of disbelief. You find yourself doing a lot of things in games that you know would be unacceptable in real-life, but that's how it's always been. Games are a welcome distraction from mundane rules of conduct and physics both and that's why we love them.

Fans haven't enjoyed the series since Origins and it's clear that EA won't let anyone make another one like it, so the series is dead either way. Better to have a sendoff like this so that maybe EA gets the message at some point and tells Bioware to create something truly mature and complex for a change. A real RPG, preferrably without woke. If they have to "restructure" Bioware to accomplish that, all the better.

I mean wasn't the series cooked already with Inquisition?

Ten years tells me this was already a dead series.

That's like saying Baldur's Gate is cooked after 22 years of no games after BG2.......... ultimately there's nothing stopping Bioware from making a successful DA4. Other than their incompetence.

DA3, whether you like it or not, sold 12mil+ copies. That's why there's a DA4.

However, I dint see this one reaching even a 1/3 of that anytime soon, and that 4 million number is being generous.

Hahaha this is literally like generic oblivion npc conversation.

They should've just let chatgpt do the thing. Even AI generated convo would feel like Planescape Torment writing next to this.

I have played machine translated Japanese porn games with better dialogue than this

Imagine being so talentless, idiotic and braindamaged by HRT as a writer, that your drivel being replaced by chatgpt would feel like an improvement for the game.

I like the cookies better.

Enjoy what world? They nuked southern Thedas. Basically everybody and everything you know from the previous games are probably dead.

1. Shove out slopware
2. Be immediately hostile to a large segment of audience
3. Give a giant middle finger to existing fans

These people hate you. And no amount of groveling reddit mods or big daddy EA money is going to hide that.

PS: the Circana numbers come from a dude called Mat Piscatella, an ultra woke journo, and when I tried looking for his twitter account I discovered he ragequit twitter and deleted his account because of Musk lmao. He is active on that bluesky site that is a huge leftist echochamber

What happens when the corpos run out of worlds with established fanbases to ruin??
THEY START REMAKING THE REMAKES
DONT YOU SEE IT?! ITS AN ENDLESS LOOP

I know but if they kill off the fanbases then there's no nostalgia foundation to build the remake off of so I'd figure it's no better than making a new game at that point.

Let me put it this way: Zack Snyder has wasted nearly a billion dollars with all his garbage movies that all flop, but studios keep giving him 9 digits budgets. Why? Because he was successful in the far distant past.
The exact same thing with videogame franchises. Alone in the Dark has been rebooted 3 fucking times, and 3 times it has flopped. Expect another one in a few years.

It's hilarious because back in the day i ignored Origins because it felt like dumbed down trash and decline of Bioware.

How far we have come...
It kind of was incline over the dumbed down trash that KOTOR, Jade Empire and Mass Effect were.

VS

Yeah it was all part of BioWare's fiddling around with variations on introducing action gameplay into their CRPGs - and Origins was notable at the time because it hearkened back to the by-then "traditional" isometric BioWare of the Infinity games, the biggest thing about it was that you could just about play it tolerably well in the traditional top-down isometric style, at least for the combat.

Personally, as someone who spent a fair amount of time enjoying MMO style combat, I never really begrudged BioWare their experiments with 3rd person. And I think in terms of end-user slickness, they just about hit the sweet spot on the third-person combat with Inquisition and just needed to retain for the next DA game something like that along with a better implementation of the zoom-out to top-down, while at the same time making the combat meaningful enough to have to go top-down sometimes, and be rewarded for thinking more tactically.

To me it's all still a lot to do with the interface. You need to suggest an optimal way of controlling the game while at the same time letting people customize it however they want.

I actually think the perfect (or most satisficing) CRPG interface system is the modded BG3 one (where you have the camera mod and the WASD mod working together, and you have the option of making a definite change of control system from WASD meaning character movement, to WASD meaning camera movement). Being able to zoom right in on your wee guys in 3rd person perspective, enjoy their hi-rez finery and looks, and steer them around like that for a bit, and then being able to switch to straightforward quasi-isometric at will, is the best of both worlds.
