I feel like I've seen this exact post with this exact wording in numerous places on the internet for at least a year. We know from the Capcom leaks that DD2 was in an unspecified stage of development, but I'll believe the actual details when I see it.

Monster Hunter Rise would seem to throw a little wrench into that "leak" given it's a Switch game running on RE Engine with large levels and from what I've heard it runs even better than World did despite being on weaker hardware.

There was a leaker (that one that leaked RE8) talking about Capcom working on RE Engine for larger environments. They guessed it was probably for Dragon's Dogma 2, (and it probably also was for that) but that was also before Rise was announced and they said it would also be on RE Engine as oppose to MT like World was.

Rise asbolutely doesn't work better than World. It is 30fps with dips. Moreover its "levels" are nowhere near complexity of World. They are essentially just bigger levels with PSP like quality.

Whatever they will go for World 2 with RE engine or MT it all depends on RE ability to scale up to really big maps. Which is even bigger question when we talk about Dragon's Dogma which should have incomparable bigger world to MH maps.

Personally i am hopeful that they didn't scrap Panta Rhei engine and will reuse it for DD2:

And doesn't look that much better than 3DS/PSP game despite having twice the power of PS3.

Monster Hunter World is shit and the game was constantly dipping below 30fps on PS4, Perkel is lying. Rise runs better than World on PS4 did. Period. The maps are also not sectioned off like the PSP/DS games as he's claiming, they are one giant map, just like how world worked. Also the "complexity" of World's levels are absolutely shit.

Except Rise is dipping below 30fps. PS4 MH did dip but at least game looked great. Rise doesn't look that great to warrant such dips is my point.

So far i am enjoying it more using a guide for all the quests (not the actual quests themselves but hints of where to find the quests givers) because i felt i was missing a lot.

Also i always chose the Warrior class and never made it far with it, but the Archer with the daggers and how smooth it feels just makes it good to play.

However i have no idea of what i am doing, i am just buying combos/armor but i have no idea of what is going on with my stats and if playing archer thoughout all game would get boring.

Right now i am escorting the hydra head to reach the capital (never made it this far) also i am getting attached to my pawn, i just love that it learnt from my autistic ways to break down boxes like i do and it does exactly what i want in combat.

She is just a loveable goof.

It feels strange, the Warrior class has flashy as hell attacks but i felt weak when i saw the damage i was dealing.

When you reach the capital, you gain access (via the Innkeeper) to the three advanced classes vocations and three hybrid classes vocations, so that once you've reach full rank in Strider you can, for example switch to Ranger (advanced version of Strider) and later still to Assassin (hybrid of Fighter and Strider). This should stave off boredom. :M

Smaller creatures should go down easily, the bigger one have weak spots, easy to reach while playing Archer. If you're 1hander then you can climb up on bigger one, if 2hander then order your pawns to take them down or expose their weakness.

I also start as a melee for Sinew trait (or whatever it was called) for more carrying capacility.

Just finished it for the 1st time, great game. Some jumbled thoughts follow.

The proverbial diamond in the rough. Raw but what was done well has rarely been bettered. The armor layering alone is miles ahead of anything newer I've played.

Excellent combat system. Ran Strider till about level 27 then saw it out as a Warrior. Finished at level 58. Was a bit pissed off with Warrior by the end, felt a bit rigid compared to Strider. I was playing on Switch so choppy performance in the more chaotic post game fights may have contributed to my frustration. Will get it on PC sometime and try out the other vocations.

Liked the story and the NPCs as well. They are both a bit underdeveloped but the flashes of inspiration that are there leave a lasting impression. I'm a big fan of cyclical narratives in video games. Big Greg manages to be an all time great game antagonist with minimal screen time.

I chose peace as my actual ending then reloaded and self cancelled to get NG+.
Went with Quina as the beloved because brunettes are the champions choice. She also has the most meaningful connection with the Arisen based on her background text and her presentation in game e.g.
    Show Spoiler
She is the only non-pawn character that knows the PC well enough to intuit that it is not really the Arisen that turns up on the beach after the NG+ ending.
Can't help but pine after what might have been if the devs had been given more time and resources to flesh things out.

Have you been to Bitterblack Isle? If not, nope, you haven't finished it. ;)
Well worth buying for PC on Steam or gog btw. The better performance makes a difference.
You could buy for PC and play solo, if that's your thing, easily doubled the game's life for me.

Not only Quina, but also Mercedes and Selene
    Show Spoiler
realize that the Arisen is different in the beach scene during the ending, although Mercedes doesn't trust her initial perception.

Mercedes: "It is you...Isn't it? Of course it is. I'm sorry. You just seemed...changed. But I suppose it isn't you who's different. It's everything else, and you who changed it..."

Selene: "You're... like me. Aren't you? As my grandmother gave me life, he/she gave you yours... They gave us death, and with it true life... This is the world he/she wanted for us."

Selene is why I went for the non-pawn qualifier. While she may be human by the end of the story she starts as a pawn. Hands up re Mercedes though. I'd managed to stay away from story spoilers on the wiki as much as possible but did know that the last high affinity NPC you talk to before handing Qunice the stones would be the one to greet you post game. I couldn't test Mercedes out but was able to try both Madeleine and Selene with the same save game.

It speaks volumes for the game's quality that it was able to get me invested in which character is the significant other of the PC despite nigh on minimal interaction or development. Who Geralt ends up with in TW3 is the only ingame romance choice I've put more thought into. Or at least considered the choice beyond that which is self evident:

Didn't do BBI. Lately I've been on a finishing games crank using the completion of the main campaign or quest as the nominal end point. If I really like a game I've been making a note to come back again in future. I will defnitely revisit DD on PC at some point and do the DLC content.
