Well I heard it's FULL OF BUGS. Exactly as majority of Russian games. It looks like Russians are not able to selfeducate.

The first games didn't had this many bugs however, did it?
The only I found where to start the game because it didn't like resolutions lower than 1024x178(?) and also on notebooks with two video cards it didn't like the intel one.

At least if this old one removed most bugs with time then it means this new one has hope.
The problem is when it is released bug as hell and they never patch it enough.

Don't worry they switched to 3D and created new GFX, they introduced a lot of bugs.

The original Eador had some bugs. I think. There were some bug fixes in patches. But I had no bugs at all. Game was very polished. The only bothering thing I can remember is unoptimized pathfinding algorithm when your hero moved 6+ provinces in one turn - it took long time to calculate his path. Some minor oversights were fixed almost instantly after clear feedback. Patches were more content additions/tweaking than bug fixing things.

But you should not expect this from new release at all simply because such original exists, I'm afraid. The first game was a game of dream for one man in full control of it => its quality.

Don't get me wrong: I wish all the best for this release. But life is life and I cannot ignore what I see, what I read etc.

I preorderd the second it was announced here as well.

Funny thing, by the way: the change in your behavior during this thread. Starting from "sucking cocks" and all such colorful cocky things, and ending like calling this game one of the best TBS ever made in very calm manner. Eador effect, I wonder, kinda awed? Or exhausted? :D

Typical codexer behaviour. We all start out acting tough at the faces of new games to prove our 1337ness, but eventually broke down in tears crying like a baby in the blossoms of the few good games that we acted tough to before because deep in our heart we lacked and yearned for love and trust thanks to the declining game industry.

What are you talking about. I liked the game from the second i played it. The sucking cocks thing had nothing to do with my impression of the game Because i hadnt even played it at that point.

Sucking cock is just DakaSha's natural state.

By the way, will this game run on a shitty laptop from 2009?

Been playing this on and off since last weekend, especially during my lunch break at work. Is it me or is it insanely difficult? I finished the tutorial without a problem, but trying to conquer any shard after that is impossible, i always end up getting overrun by the AI.

Yep, even so i'm getting my ass handed to me. Must be all those years of psychological condition from mediocre strategy games... or i'm just that bad. :)

Should i continue playing it or should i wait for the new and improved version? I've read it's basically the same game in a better looking package.

Yes its difficult. Even on easier levels you need to expand fast to compete with AI. Granted half the difficulty comes from not knowing events and mainly units.

Well you'd need about 40 shard loses on beginner before you'd actually lose the game, thus as long as you'd try different things you'd became better.

However, a difficulty of your opponents changes, and you'd encounter opponents on a master level which are PITA.

Yes, but by that time he wont be limited to lvl 1 troops in his stronghold.

Campaign overall is WAY harder than skirmish games.

Don't be afraid to abuse that go back one turn feature until you get a handle on the game.

You also lose when there are no more shards to attack (and new shards only appear when you win), so losing 5 shards in row is instakill.

I have bought it from gog several days ago and so far I like it (conquered 8 shards). However, as others pointed, the game seems ridiculously difficult even on mid levels. I'm playing on skilled and it's ok, but on expert it's so frustrating that it's not fun at all. It seems the developers wanted to make the middle level as normal, but on release they realized it's extreme for those not knowing everything about the game mechanics and renamed the difficulty levels to more appropriate terms. How can Expert be balanced when even if both sides' troops have the same HP, the neutral stacks are twice as bigger and at the slightest mistake you get trampled. Anyway, I'm enjoying it a lot, it's a pretty fun indie gem.

Make sure not to make hasty decisions campaign-wise. There's a point in the campaign when you can win [somewhat] prematurely (if it makes sense). Just don't activate things you're not sure you want to activate. Can't be more specific, or else it'd be a spoiler. :D
