You can even go the whole game without leveling
just like in every other soulsborne game
in terms of difficulty Elden Ring is slightly above Demon's Souls
the good thing is you can disable Easy Anti Cheat and run the game offline, which will be amazing once mods come in making the game an actual challenge
i am wiping bosses down one after another, and some of the time not even dying, very un-souls like, and all I am doing is using melee, nothing else
Can't refuse the accord / spurn the keepers in other games (other than killing them)
Also I'm quite certain you' haven't reached
Margit
yet, otherwise cool

Anyone got it working on PC? Just seen a scathing review about the PC port.
Worked yesterday, had a blast. Unplayable today, without me changing any settings in the game. Crashed my machine like fully forced a reboot on launch. After that, game would load but would boot me back to title menu because "framerate too low for online play". You can't even quit the game once this happens because it literally kicks you all the way to the first screen before any of the menu options come up. When you press a button, it gives the framerate message and kicks you to that same start screen.

Launched game in offline mode, was able to load my save. Framerate is a slideshow no matter what I do with settings or where I go in game. Again thoroughly baffling given the game played just fine the day before. SO, yeah. Hope FROM fixes this soon because I sure can't.

Of the three people I was intending to play this with, 2 of us can't play the game at all after hours of troubleshooting. I at least got to play for one day. Other person could never get the game to do anything other than crash.

If they're getting a white screen on startup ---> crash have them disable the Steam Overlay AND reinstall epic games store

I expected the game to be very fun but less unique and atmopsheric than Demons and Dark souls 1, and that seems accurate so far.

The open world is nice for quests though, and it's nice finding scraps of paper that give you directions to loot. Following landmarks and directions to find a location in an open world is fun and so few games have done it since Morrowind.

Rolled a Warrior and made my way to Stormveil Castle. Will make a more detailed post with my observations once I take a break from the game, but all I'll say for now is: this game is fun.

I am not disputing that it is fun
what I am saying is that once the community of modders has its way with the game it will be 1000% better
there is a lot of things that can be changed in the game and balanced without removing quality of life

i am still wondering where is all the armour?
at around 15 hours in DS3 I would have an entire wardrobe
I only have an incomplete armour set from the first area

that being said I have a bunch of magic equipment, which is all useless, and I can't find all the colossal weapons, I do have one but I need to level up a lot to use it

Tried running the game on my potato PCs, so here's some more data for anyone who cares:

My desktop:

Windows 7
i5-4460 3.20GHz
16GB RAM
Geforce 1060 3GB

On the desktop it flat out refused to work, most likely because of windows 7. I didn't find any useful discussions on the topic other than "it's not listed in the minimal requirements so it won't work" so decided to experiment myself. I tried googling the errors I was getting, fiddling with DLL files but nothing worked. Apparently because the game requires DX12 it just won't work on Windows 7 even if you launch it with -dx11.

My laptop:

Windows 10
i5-9300H 2.40GHZ
8GB RAM
Geforce 1650 4GB

On the laptop it ran "fine" on medium settings. Not silky smooth 60 FPS but playable, at least for me, cause I'm used to playing demanding games on shit outdated PCs (my first playthrough of Dark Messiah was at 15 FPS  ).

Not ideal, but looks like I'll be playing on my laptop.

The game itself is fun so far. I liked the first boss, the knife & hammer guy. Gonna restart with a new character and actually take the time to properly configure my controls, read the dialogue and explore cause I was speedrunning everything to see as much as possible before deciding if I should refund.

That's pretty dumb that they made the game easy. You can tell that this won't be remembered a decade from now like the first Dark Souls is. Game of Thrones is quite a garbage tv series besides the first season. If that's the show/book they are adapting, then you already know that a large portion of this game is trash.

Fake news. I just had an epic boss fight.

Someone want to (honestly) tell me when they've beaten Margit? Because I'm having a really hard time understanding where these "too EZ" claims are coming from. That's from someone who has played Demons Souls through Sekiro to completion in the Soulsborne catalogue, minus Bloodborne.

I just beat him at lvl 20. He is a trap boss -> it's harder with summons ;)

Edit: Whoever complains about difficulty is retarded. The game is not easy. I beat the boss with a mace and it was the right level of difficulty. Epic fight.

He is weak to bleed. It took me 30 min to solo him but it was awesome.

I beat Margit but holy shit I got my ass handed to me like 10 times, beefed up, came back and spammed summons. Wolf pack + that sorcerer guy from the summon sign next to him.

Beefgate boss.

I know I'm retarded but I never summon on my first attempts to kill a boss. FFS that npc is overleveled in order to help scrubs. Are you a scrub?

Guys, what are your favorite weapon abilities? So far, I really like the uchigatana unsheathe + RT, it's amazing to use against slow enemies just before they attack. The halberd charge attack is also pretty sweet and has good range. Any other cool ones?

Sorry for the multiple posting but Bloodborne is in. That's all I'm going to say.

In fact all FromSW games are in Elden Ring and ... I love it!*

*I did not play the Bloodborne part but we will see.

The game just crashed after 20 minutes (for the second time). At the exact same spot too. I remembered the decorated tiles I looked at during the first crash. I might try to lower the settings like someone suggested earlier in this thread. Or wait for a patch. Shame, I almost got the bear down.

I know he did the steam overlay thing but not sure about Epic Store. I'll pass the info along, thanks.

Meanwhile I'm discovering that ALL my games run with slideshow unplayable framerate post-Elden Ring, so now I'm thinking the game somehow fucked something fundamental on my machine.

'Suppose imma run around the open world for a bit more, try to get a better weapon (I can fucking use), titanite it up and come back.

No, you're supposed to go in naked with a club, run towards the boss, and roll at the right time. Easy, dude.

Thank fuck this is a different type of game, finally.

Well, besides Sekiro that is.

What are you talking about? I'm playing like this and it's still working.

So I would say Margit is one of the hardest bosses in any of the From games. I think this is to encourage the player to go out and get as strong as possible before facing him, but at the same time, it's like a bold-faced challenge to all the fans who've played the games up until this point. I felt conflicted about it, turned to go and get stronger several times, but ultimately came back for the pain. It's a great fight, the game is not too easy - at least up until this point - and I ultimately wish I would have just done what my RPGamer instincts had told me and gone out and gotten stronger. I'm glad I persevered, but it was a stupid perseverance that I won't repeat for the rest of the game.

I am happy that Elden Ring is the way it is. And I can see why people have said it's taken the genre in different and better directions. I can't wait to play more of this tomorrow, and for many days after, and for many years after.

I agree. Except one thing ... you can beat him at lvl 1 ;)

Any enemies can drop them so far, but its more rare than before, also some set looted in secret areas.

i will buy this game in summer and i want to avoid spoilers ( idk how to do it for 4-5 months) , so i need to get the out of here really fast. Just wanted to know if the hype was too much or game livevto expectations. Also too easy?

Relax. Except performance issues, this is GOTY 2022.

Based on what I've heard the sentinel boss at the very start of the game (it's almost the first thing you see after leaving the tutorial area and entering the open world) is definitely also deliberately placed there to hammer the point home.
Seems like you're definitely expected to go out and explore.

Except when you are retarded like me. It took me 2 hours and 100+ tries (!?) but it can be done at low level.

he drops a halberd with required str 30

The battle axe wild swing is cool.

The lordsworn greatsword has the Souls golf swing move which is pretty sweet for all your "To the Moon!" needs.
